Getting a new 3d surround sound but my astro headset goes into the back of my ps3 via optical cable but awant my surround sound wired up via optical cable aswell :/ my tv has a optical input as well will that just be the same as plugging into my ps3 ? And with my Astros have just got a little cable really really thin will getting a new thicker gold plated one give me a better sound then using the standard astro one ??

Congrats on the new surround sound. I taking a guess that it might work. But I honestly don't know. You might want to consult with the manual to see if it would work

Are you running a Mixamp Pro or Mixamp 5.8 as well? Not sure on the Mixamp Pro, but the Mixamp 5.8 has a optical input and output allowing for S/PDIF pass-through from the Mixamp to other equipment like your TV or Surround Receiver. In that setup, the optical cable would go from the PS3 to the Mixamp, then a second optical cable from the Mixamp to the receiver.

Mix amp 5.8 wireless so optical cable to the mix amp receiver and then out put to the surround sound will that reakky work dosnt sound that promising because how will the receiver know when a want the srround sound and a will want the headset theirs no switch or nothing. like a said the tvs got a optical in put but will I get the 5.1 surround sound on my games even if it's plugged into the tv not the back of the ps3

Yep, those settings should work just fine.

Q: Why are there two Optical Connectors on the MixAmp 5.8™ Tx?
A: One is the input, for receiving game audio from your console or home theater system. The other is an output, in the event that you want to place the MixAmp 5.8 between your console and your home theater system. Think of it as an audio pass-through – whatever audio comes in the Optical-In jack is also sent out the Optical-Out jack.
