Hey all,

I haven't been all that happy about being with Verizon wireless so I've thinking of either T-moble or Sprint here's why.

T-moble

seems to have a good plan (more min for the money) and they have the phone I want.

Sprint

Still new but gathering details, I like the "flexible plan" idea. I haven't looked at phones too much either.

My current carrier Verizon

I got 350 anytime min. for $40

The only good thing about this company is they probably have the best reception (depending on phone). I hate their phones and don't really like the store that I go to (the only co. store around my area).

Oh, the other reasons that might make me stay with verizon is that I like my Cell # (I know you can take it with you but I heard it was a ***** to switch) I will probably have $100 credit towards an new phone if I renew with a new plan and phone.

Hope I didn't miss anything. So, what do you think? is it worth the switch to a different carrier?

Thanks for your help

Nick

Don't do Sprint. I use Sprint and I am less than satisfied. For me to call home from work is considered "roaming" Just accross town.

I like my Sprint. However, it is a little odd. It decided I was roaming the other day. (I was in hollywood, and I live in the hollywood hills). However, it didn't see making calls home from Boston as roaming.

I have the Suncom/AT&T unplan, or whatever the hell it's called. $40 a month for unlimited local minutes, and unlimited long distance anytime. Works for me.

Get T-Mobile, I think it is better. But beware, make sure your plan has Mobile Instant Messaging / Text messages. A couple months ago I got billed 340 dollars for using AOL Instant messenger. (It bills you 5 cents ingoing and 5 cents outgoing for mobile im and 10 cents ingoing/outgoing for text messaging)

Really? wow, I have sprint with a sanyo 8100 camera phone but I never get roaming no matter where I go, and even if i do I don't get charged for it, I also have like 1000 anytime minutes, unlimited night and weekends, unlimited cell to cell minutes (so anyone who has a sprint phone I can call anytime wihtout wasting minutes) unlimited picture storage, unlimited internet, unlimited text and all that good stuff for 50 bucks a month :) and no thats not regular price, I get a discount through my dads job since his company is with sprint and I get their discount :D

Wow, this is a lot of mixed reviews... I'm not sure it helps? I'm mostly concerned with reception and price right now, then I guess what phone. Do any of you guys with sprint have info on this "flex plan"? That's the only thing that makes me interested in sprint, I didn't think they had good reception, although anything is better than cingular here.

I get recenption everywhere but the middle of the boonies in the forest camping but other than that I get service just about everywhere, If you want a good signal make sure you get a "dual band/tri mode" phone like mine (mine is a sanyo 8100)

A phone that has dual-band capability can switch frequencies. This means that it can operate in both the 800-MHz and 1900-MHz bands. So if it's not getting good reception it will automatically switch. In cell phones, "mode" refers to the type of transmission, there are a few digital modes (like CDMA and TDMA) and if it cant use those it will try the analog ones (AMPS). hope that helps :)

Bump.

Well in a suprizing twist I've almost decided to go old school! and get a pager. Screw the high cost bill and headaches of worrying about minutes. The one problem is where can you get pagers these days?? Anyone know?

Thanks

Nick

Race Idiot
Orange is, but i'm pretty sure that Vodaphone is worldwide.

Do you guys have pay as you go over there?

Vodophone owns part of either Cingular or Verizon. I can never keep track of all the crap going on in my industry.
