what is the big deal with it to me its not that big. Maybe its the game play of it but i just don't like them... well maybe except for 7.
don't get me wrong i know they are good games but i was wondering if i was the only one they did not appeal to.

don't start flaming me, you fantasy lovers its just that i wanna know if i am the only one that feels this way about the series.

We love fantasy gaming in general, like Dark Cloud, Diablo, etc. We bought Final Fantasy X for our 11-year-old daughter, under the mistaken impression that it was actually a fighting game (turns out were actually thinking it was Tekken).

She seems to be enjoying it, but to me it is 75% movie cut scenes, with a few arbitrary bits of control thrown in. Dull as ditchwater. If they actually wanted to make an animated feature, they should have just done that, and skipped the lousy game play.

I get too involved in the story, yesterday I played for 9 hours

I remember the first time I heard of it, my friend says "hey you have to watch this scene from final fantasy" I say "WTF is that, porn?" and he laughs and says "no" You have to admit it does sound like a porn title.

I tried final fantasy 9 but I just could not force myself to like it. I hate RPG's. All of them. My brother and I are totally different. He's RPG man and thinks racing games are stupid b/c they are " the same thing over and over again". I disagree.

Up until FF7 the games were exellent.

But Ive played 8, 9, and 10 and Im not into them for some reason.

8 - story sucked, but it had some of the hardest battles in it.

9 - Sucked, plain and simple

10 - Ditto Dukes comment's about it being 75% watching

10-2 -

11 - Online only

12 - Looks like it's going to suck.

Square Enix seems to be taking a decent games series down the pisser to me.

I liked FF7(I actually finished it), Didn't like FF8(last boss too hard! Gave up...), but I liked FF10, which I haven't finished either... laziness.

i don't like Final Fantasy every one i know seems to think its great, but then again i don't like halo...i dont see the big hype about it and the game doesnt apeal to me...i mainly just like racing games and fighting games...hmmm :odd:

my only major problem with the games are they are like 26 discs long. who has that much time??

thats 4 cd's or 1 dvd. The reason they are that long is becasue of the FMV's length and quality. Way better than any other game out there.

Yeah, i bought FFX with my $20 gamestop card last week which I never play Final Fantasy series or RPG games before. But it turned out that I don't like it very much. I think i am action player, not RPG player. I am still don't understand why many people love this game. Usually, most games i always attract to, but this game, i don't attract to it.

its not that much (think about it) it took me 50 hours to beat this game and there was less than 9 hours of cinematics.

The only reason I play RPG's (only FF series) is because of the story. Nobody else in the industry can make a story that makes you want to almost come to tears IMO. It's like a movie to me, but FF7 was the best out of all the FF's. FFX is second.

Heh...I take everything what I said about FFX back. I like FFX. it is good! much better than i thought. :D Worth to get it.

I enjoyed most of them. FF8 had great story, 7 had good gameplay & 6 was just amazing...the rest, sadly to say, were very very overrated IMO

FF7 is great(maybe the best of them all)
FF8 is better (what the hell do you mean you cant beat the last boss? its a cakewalk!)
FF9 sucks(midget characters WHAT THE HELL?)
FF10 is ok(storyline was ok)
FF10-2 is great(choose your ending is ok but 3 characters? cmon!!)

overall the final fantasy series is the best RPG series ive ever seen

2 & 3 were the best, anyone who played them to beat them will tell you that. They did not need fancy graphics or cool sounds to keep you interested. It was pure amazing story.

#7 easily comes in 3rd out of them all for me. I remember putting over 200 hours on it the first time I played. Everyones levels at 99, 99 of every item, all weapons, all limit breaks. I must have played that game and started it over 6 times by now.

Final Fantasy 10 was good, but way too much show and flash for me. End boss was a piece of crap that I walked right over.

Final fantasy 9 kept me interested right on up 'till the last boss. I simply just stopped playing once I got there, I don't know why.

I played FF8 for all of 4 hours before I turned it off, never to play it again. I just finished FF7 hours before starting 8. . . so of course it tasted like crap when compared.

I too have never understood the mind controlling aspects of Final Fantasy. I've never been intersted in any RPG, though, so that might have a lot to do with it.

What I'm getting from you guys is that the game is more about the story and less about playing a game. That makes it less of an RPG and more of a movie. So Neon Duke's comment about exessive amounts of cinematics aren't far off. It's probably gotten more so through the series as well.

If you want a story game that is more play and less movie I STRONGLY SUGGEST picking up a copy of Ico if you can find it. The story is very intersting, the game play is FUN, the visuals are pretty darn good, and the cinematics are short and sweet.

When I was finished playing it, the only term I could find to describe the game was "emotional".

I'll give ICO a try, I'd have to say that while there are long cinematics the actuall gameplay far exeeds the amount of cinematics. RPG's also have addicting side-quests not related to the main event, that yeild great rewards such as secret weapons for completing. there are also multiple endings to the RPG depending on what descisions you make during gameplay. In the end it all comes down to personal choice. One thing I must say is that with any RPG you cant play it for only an hour then decide it's crap, thats what I did the first time I played, after giving it a chance I started liking it.

Uh....

Has everybody forgotten FFT?

I think it was a refreshing change for the FF series.....

It had a badass storyline too....

Though... I never got to beat it yet..... (Using a PC emulator sucks @@s in graphics...)

I beat the GBA one though (Story mode only)

I kinda want to try the new GC one..... Maybe 12 since it has the races from the FFT adv.

Hell... I don't have a PS2 or a GC so I'm totally ****ed....:banghead:

FFX2 is great!!Though FFX is my favorite....but X-2 is good l partly because of the main characters.(!!CHIKS!!) I also want to try FFXI (11) and FFXII (12) They look great!

FFXI is just a MMORPG with no story line, nothing like what you expect from a final fantasy I dont suggest you buy it at all. You WILL be dissapointed, I took mine back to the store. I'm downloading the trailer for FFXII right now. BTW did you hear that their supposed to make a FFVII remake with the original creators?

They are making a movie sequel to FFVII, called FFVII Advent children, it's the only thing i'm looking forward to that Square are making.

I just couldn't get into FFTactics, the battle system had way to many things to learn. It's more of a strategic RPG, than anything else, not the simple type where you just bash attack all the time. :D
