I've been working on this for a month or so. (Married....)
but here it is, the F1 race and how I did it.

First: I owe credit to these guys on this thread
The Final Race

Thanks guys.

I adopted a strategy to win 3 F1's in one shot. As this was the last race in Proffesional mode, the last Simulation mode race, and the F1 race, I managed to do that. (F688/S;F686/M;F090/S)

I pre-raced Seattle, Laguna Seca, and Cote D'azur. Though I included them in the order that you would normally race them.
I only have to qualify at Seattle to take the points lead and sweep the series.

It has begun:

The Garage looks like this:

347/375 = 92%
48 Gold License tests
Cars Owned: 163
Total Mileage: 10,367.0
Total Car Value 78,563,590
Bonus Cars 94
Trophies: 458

I have finished all of the Time trials except for TT10. I’ve got to shave 19 seconds off that one to win it. That’s not gonna happen, so…on with the show

Strategy:
Race: My points Second Place
Midfield 30 laps 10 6
Seattle 40 Laps 0 12
(Qualify in 1st place)
Grand Valley 27 Laps 20 18
Super Speedway 50 Laps 30 24
Rome Circuit 28 Laps 40 30
Test Course 25 Laps 50 36
Laguna Seca 33 Laps 0 46
Apricot Hill Raceway 27 Laps 60 52
Tokyo R246 25 Laps 70 58
Cote D’azur 78 Laps 0 68

Finish with: 70 68

I ran the F094/S set up stock (w/ oil change)
Spring Rate: Front 17.4, Rear 17.5
Bottom out the transmission.
Shock bound: F&R level 5
Shock Rebound: F&R level 5
Camber: Front 2.0, Rear 1.0
Toe Angle: Front 0.0, Rear -3.0

Brakes F&R Level 24

Gears looked like this: Auto Setting 37. Final drive at 4.062

LS Initial Front 0, Rear 15
LS Accel: Front 0, Rear 40
LS Decel: Front 0, Rear 30

Downforce: Front 0.70, Rear 1.50
ASM Level 5
TCS Level 2

Midfield:

Did not qualify.

I pitted on Laps 7, 13, 19, 25

AI pitted on Laps 8, 18, 28

I encountered lap traffic on Lap 22.

Best Lap: 56.551
Total Time: 30’36.452
Average Lap: 1'01.215

F094/S: + 50.571
F686/M: + 1 Lap
F090/S: + 1 Lap
F687/S: + 1 Lap
F688/S: + 1 Lap

Seattle (40 Laps):

VS. F094/s; F090/s; 687/s; 686/m; 688/s;

Did not Qualify.

Pitted at laps: 7;14 (came out 18+ seconds ahead of 2nd place); 21 (25 seconds) 28 ( 8 Seconds); 34 (24 Seconds).
AI Pitted on Lap 8 (686m;687s) Lap 9 (F094s 688s) Lap 10 (090s) Lap 17 (686m;687s) Lap 19 (f094s f688s) Lap 20 (f090s) Lap 24 (686m) Lap 27 (687s) Lap 29 (f094/s; F688/s;) Lap 30( f090s;) Lap 34 (686m) Lap 35 (687s) Lap 39 (688s; F094s)

Hit lap traffic at lap 27 (unlapped during pit on lap 28) and lap 32

Total Time 53’46.764
Best Lap 1’14.026
Average Lap: 1’20.669

F094S +55.637
F090S +1’09.416
F686m +1 lap
F687s +1 lap
F688s +1 lap

This one had already been raced, just had to qualify in first place.
Which I did with cow like driving and a 1’18.827

Grand Valley Speedway:

Did not qualify

I pitted on laps: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25

AI pitted on laps: 6, 12, 18, 24

Encountered lap traffic on lap 20

Best Lap: 1’26.882
Total Time: 42’37.201
Average Lap: 1'34.711

F094/S: + 43.134
F090/S: + 1’30.934
F686/M: + 1 Lap
F687/S: + 1 Lap
F688/S: + 1 Lap

Super Speedway:
Did not qualify

I pitted on laps: 8, 17, 26, 35, 43 (clocked the pit entry barrier. Made me jump.)

AI pitted on laps: 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48 (?!?)

Encountered lap traffic on lap 18

Best lap: 26.234
Total time: 25’45.094
Average lap: 30.902

F686/M: + 1 Lap
F094/S: + 1 Lap
F687/S: + 1 Lap
F090/S: + 2 Laps
F688/S: + 2 Laps

So the standings were now

Me: 30 Pts.
F094/S: 22 Pts.
F686/M: 17 Pts.
F090/S: 10 Pts.
F687/S: 9 Pts.
F688/S: 6 Pts.

This put me 2 points ahead of my strategy. An Unexpected turn of events. This may contribute to a better strategy near the end of the series. Also my oil light came on in this race. :(

Rome Circuit:
Did not qualify

I pitted on laps: 7, 14 and 21

AI pitted on laps: 8, 16 and 24

Best Lap: 1’05.351
Total Time: 32’35.899
Average lap: 1'09.854

F094/S: + 38.533
F686/M: + 1 Lap
F090/S: + 1 Lap
F687/S: + 1 Lap
F688/S: + 1 Lap

Test Course:
Up until this point I had been running my car with the stock settings, other than lowest possible ride height, and brakes set at 24 and 24, and rear down force at max (1.50)

I minimized down force, and adjusted the gears from Auto 37 to Auto 39

I pitted on laps: 8 and 17 (orange tires)

AI pitted on laps: 7, 13, and 19

Fastest Lap: 1’42.035
Total Time: 43’34.517
Average Lap: 1'44.581
Most all my laps ranged around 1’42.3XX The pitstops blow the average.

F688/M: +58.897
F094/S: +1’21.469
F687/S: +1’25.467
F688/S: +1 lap
F090/S: +1 lap

In running this race, I believe that it is possible to pit once. Both of my pits were on with 1 orange tire, the other 3 were yellow/orange.

When you start this race, jump to the inside of the track. The AI have no clue how to draft. By moving to the inside of the track, you eliminate any chance of the AI drafting off you, allowing you to run away from the pack.

Me: 50 Pts.
F094/S: 32 Pts.
F686/M: 27 Pts.
F090/S: 14 Pts.
F687/S: 14 Pts.
F688/S: 9 Pts.

Strategy Update:

Midfield 30 laps 10 6
Seattle 40 Laps 0 12
(I qualified in 1st place)
Grand Valley 27 Laps 20 18
Super Speedway 50 Laps 30 22
(F094/S came in Third)
Rome Circuit 28 Laps 40 28
Test Course 25 Laps 50 32

Tokyo R246 25 Laps 70 54
Cote D’azur 78 Laps 0 64

Finish with: 70 64

Laguna Seca (30 Laps):
F094/S

Vs. F094/H; F094/S; F090/S; F686/M; F688/s
Did not qualify, so started in last place.
Pitted at 7,14, 21, 27

AI pitted on Lap 9; 18; 27

Total time: 37’52.390
Best lap: 1’03.425
Average Lap: 1’08.860

F094/H: +12.931
F094/S: +24.722
F090/S: +45.273
F686/M: +56.293
F688/S: + 57.698

I pre-raced this one, so it didn't count towards the series.

Apricot Hill:
Did not qualify

Returned all the setting to prior Test Course race.

I pitted on Laps: 6, 12, 18 and 23

AI pitted on laps: 7, 14, 21

Hit Lap traffic on lap 23.

Fastest Lap: 1’01.523
Total Time: 29’53.572
Average Lap: 1'06.428

F094/S: +16.485
F687/S: +1’03.652
F090/S: +1’06.592
F686/M: +1 lap
F688/S: +1 lap

Tokyo R246:
Did not qualify

Due to the long straight-away, I lengthened my gears to Auto setting 38
Adopting a 5 lap pit strategy (4 pits), I pitted on laps 5, 10, 15 and 20.

The AI pitted on laps: 7, 14 and 21

Best Lap: 1’16.115
Total Time: 35’57.480
Average Lap: 1'26.299

F094/S: + 17.875
F686/M: + 54.991
F090/S: + 55.930
F687/S: + 1’00.946
F688/S: +1’12.073

I regret changing my gears before this race, as 6th gear didn’t have enough acceleration. It’s also likely that a 6 lap pit strategy may work better. My tires were orange/yellow every pit stop.

Cote D’Azur (78 Laps) :
Qualified for Pole Position with a 1’19.942

Pitted at: 6,13,20,27,34,41,49 (very red),55,61,67,73

AI pitted on: 10,20,30,40,50,60,70

Encountered Lap traffic at lap 17

Total Time: 107’44.829
Best Lap: 1’16.100
Average lap: 1’22.882

F094/S: +52.995
F094/H: + 1lap
F688/S: + 3laps
F686/M: + 3laps
F687/S: + 4laps

This was another race that had been pre-raced.

Final Points standings:
Me: 70 Pts.
F094/S: 64 Pts.
F686/M: 42 Pts.
F090/S: 30 Pts.
F687/S: 27 Pts.
F688/S: 15 Pts.

Thoughts

I started with a brand new F094/S. Chalked up 1011.2 miles, and dropped it’s horsepower to 774. After the oil change it returned to 813. So I damaged the engine enough that I lost 14HP.

I won 3 F1’s (F688/S; F686M; F090/S). Unfortunately, I never did TT10. So my percentage sits at 99.0%. Have to spend some time thinking about finishing that one.

So my final garage looks like this:
Prize total 11,851,500
354/385 = 91%
48 Gold licenses
166 cars
10499.4 miles
Total Car value: 82,163,590
Bonus cars: 97
Trophies: 466

And a total of 214 days.

Now to convince my wife to let me start over…

I just finished midfield....here's some of my specs

was racing a f094/h

had the gears a little low to give good pick up, considered this because of that one hairpin

best lap was a 55.082 finished in 30'10.XXX

was racing against two 94's one was a f094/s the other was a f094/h, these two gave me a little trouble in the first couple of laps, then we were normally 20 to 40 seconds apart from each other. Lapped them on the 28th lap. (they pitted in)

i lapped everyone atleast once. there was an amazingly slow car, think I might have passed him a couple of times.

I hit some traffic around lap 18, other then that it was pretty much clear, except for the lapping laps.

I did qualify (wanted to get gears brake levels sound) with a 56.9XX which put me in first.

just had a couple of driving technique questions......what's the best, "slow in fast out" "fast in, dang slow turn, then fast out".

I do the fast in mash the brakes speed out. this kicks the crap out of the comp but not sure if it's the best way........because of my technique i ride with brake setting 21. I found this also helps with longer turns that require a standard speed. Instead of riding one spead, I'll go fast, tap the brakes, go fast out of the turn.

like i said it works alrigh on the comps but not sure how good it really is, considering the comps aren't very good.

see ya

Yeah, that is pretty darn cool dude

Thanks for the props!! Very nice loooonggggggg detailed story. Anyway, I still have to get back on GT3 and finish it. Maybe someday soon...... Anybody else have some ideas for little "projects" like this, let us know. I think this could be some more fun later on.... :P

Once I've convinced the wife that it won't kill our marriage, I'm planning on restarting and doing the similar write -up for the rest of the game.

I won't do the arcade mode since it's the SAME as the rest of the game.

Till later,
AO

I've convinced the wife to let me restart the game!!

All it took was a $325 trip to the vet for our Greenwing Macaw.

I'm jumping on it tomorrow night. Hopefully by Tuesday I'll have most of Beginner league typed up.

Thanks for the support,

Till later,
AO

Just imagine the title

"NEW AND IMPROVED GT3 BEGINNER'S GUIDE"

He would have the most detailed guide to GT3 that would probably ever exist (in writing anyway). There are still some new members popping up here everyday. Even if you all have been around for a while like me, we still can't forget that people are still new to GT3 on a weekly basis.

Do it for the newbies :D

When I started GT3 I had never played ANY racing game for more than 5 minutes. I found the first 3-4 races to be so hard because I had NO skill and I was trying to get used to it all. I didnt know anything trust me. I went on the web and read walkthroughs and stuff and finally got the hope that I could do it, but a step by step would have been worth a million bucks to me.
