shouldnt the moon, seen from earth
and the earth, seen from the moon, be bigger?

it's hard to find them in the sky, they are very small and shine like stars
i'm not a traveler but seen from portugal the moon is always very big and frequently close to the horizon line;having visible earth/moon would give very beautiful pictures and replays.
the replays should thake more advantage of views and wide panoramicas

There's no Moon in that shot, though you can see the light from it on the clouds. Did you look around the sky a bit more?

The Moon should be quite visible and easy to differentiate from any star - sometime it will be bigger (when closer to the horizon) other times smaller.

I think someone mentioned on th Moon thread that Earth is visible and looks great.

It all depends on where it is in the sky relative to the horizon as to how it will look.

Your pic does not show the moon as others have already said.

However, the moon does appear larger near the horizon than it does in open sky. This happens because if perspective and the way that the human mind references visual objects.

This is easily tested in a simple experiment. Some night, when the moon is in full view, hold a ruler at arms length and measure the moon at the horizon. A few hours later when the moon is high up in open sky measure it again with the same ruler at the same arms length.

You will find the measurements to be the same even though the moon now looks so much smaller. Why? Because in open sky there iss no comparable size reference for our brains to use so it appears to be smaller than it was when viewed at the horizon.

Wild isn't it?

Again though... your.posted image has no moon in it. I do like the picture though. Especially the way the moon has illuminated the clouds ;)

Ultimately, it depends on the field of view (zoom). With a narrow field of view, it appears larger, with a wide field of view it appears smaller. It's hard to compare a picture with what you see with the naked eye.

It all depends on the perspective used in the game, the human eye sees approximately at 50 mm focal length while the in game perspective may be closer to 28 mm (?). Look at a moon shot taken with a 28mm lens...it's tiny.

You think that with all the fuss PD made about getting all the details of the night sky accurate, they would screw up the easiest part, the moon...?

You're right, they would

How is the moon easier that the rest of the stars and planets?

The good old mind trick...

the stars moon modelling is just a gimmick/novelty. Its just another feature that PD is using to help market itself in some way. Even if you do somehow figure out that the maps are not accurate in anyway....who cares? even PD wont care.

Imo PD wasted its time and effort in creating it when the driving experience clearly needs more work.

The moon, or any stars not being accurate isnt surprising....more importantly, it doesnt matter.

i'm sorry the first pic it's from PD, i post it exacly because there's no moon and i never saw a clear moon in gt6.
is that picture above at gt6/daytona? i searched the moon there and havent found it at all! not even small
does the moon change sizes ingame? the bigest i saw is in the new picture at willow springs.

Lusitanuno might be right though... I have tried several tracks (Daytona, Spa, Matterhorn and Willow Springs) and only on Matterhorn I could identify the moon (at midnight) and it was pretty small. Not as big as in real life or the trailer.

You've been watching the V-Sauce vids :)

What about that Daytona shot you posted? It was very clear in that one, which correct me if I'm mistaken, looked to be from the game.

Look directly up in the sky in photo mode.
On the lunar missions, you can see Earth by doing this.

With the photo mode camera, look for the brightly shining Earth in the sky, and zoom in until max. If necessary, lower the camera exposure. You should see it.

Must be similar to 24h tracks, but it depends on the track's time when you can see it.

-i know about earth seen from the moon, thats why i think it is so small, cant understand why
-weel, i havent seen any picture with the moon bigger than the pic i posted above at willow springs, on some tracks i havent found it at all and in the ones i do it´s always small and bright(need zoom and lower exposure)

i must say that the other stars looks great and love night races (i know the moon its not a star)
