I would rather have more tracks and cars, but oh well this will give me something to do at college :D

For those of you who don't know....

Gran Turismo 5 continues to evolve well beyond its initial release, proving that some of the early reviews were pre-emptive, inaccurate write-ups of a game that has grown considerably since release. Yes, it’s still inperfect but as Polyphony’s online portion evolves at a steady pace and the number of races and features likewise, it’s clear that anyone buying GT 5 is in for a long-term ride.

The notion of the B-Spec races might confuse some still, but even if the concept of letting an AI driver do the donkey work effectively tieing up your PS3 is slightly alien, the idea that you’ll be able to do just that from a browser whilst in another room of the house (or at work) surely must excite even the most wary of gamers.

Polyphony boss Kaz Yamauchi has confirmed that this new part of GT5, dubbed Gran Turismo Anywhere (or Remote Racing) is still coming, and it’s due next month. It’s still not 100% clear what this feature will actually provide, but the official GT site clearly states that your PS3 will have to be running in order for the feature to work. Let’s hope it’s worth the wait and gives us slightly more control over our drivers.

This would be fantastic, I can now get B-Spec to level 40 (I've just unlocked Indy 500) without losing any play time, just leave the PS3 on while I sleep and that's it.

while you sleep? you can do that now. anyway, if you're sleeping you can't set up b-spec races so it won't really benefit.

where this will benefit is for those of us who work, or have a lot of school. we can run races while we're not at home. THAT is what excites me... earning money and b-spec EXP while i'm sitting at my 7-to-5 (9/80 schedule :D )

No I can't, I have school and my Mum will be able to hear the humming of my PS3.

No use what so ever to me ive completed b-spec mode lol, Sounds a really good idea though, being able to control it while your out. i can see people not getting any work done with this lol

Its a solution to a problem that should never have existed. Remove b spec beef up a spec events and prices and surely the game would be loads better off for it without the need for elaborate remote access and control.

haha ok well i meant college school in this case then... run races while you're sitting in class taking notes and your ps3 is on in your apt/dorm.

Ah, I wonder if I can do B-Spec whilst using the school's computers during ICT and at Lunch...
GT5 = GCSE Fail

As I see it, B-Spec is nothing more than a way of generating money to buy cars.
GT is a racing game, it should be about the player racing and generating money to buy cars.
Just increase the amount of money a player can make by investing their time by actually utilising their racing game as a racing game (wow, what an interesting, idea!).
Let expensive cars be sellable and STOP trying to turn GT into some kind of messed up clicky-clicky win-win web game.

I wish Kaz would serisouly think about what he is doing to this game. Its seems like GT5 is more of a player (less) game than any other game. I guess since he knew that A-spec would be lacking, remote control Bob from work will make up for it. Nevermind the power bill and the life of your console just to earn in game credits to buy/win a car. By the way I haven't grinded yet and there is no way in hell I'm doing a 9 hour race 9 times.

back on topic: I just don't see the point in having bob race a race that you can not even view. The only way that this benefits the player is earning credits while you are not home.

I like it. Now I can spend more time driving at home, whilst Bob drives when I'm at college.

Here is an even better idea: Drop B-Spec mode and convert B-Spec events to A-Spec Events. Then instead of spending time implementing "Gran Turismo Anywhere" implement saving in pit-stops and between championship races! The fact they don't do that makes me think that someone at PD is a raving lunatic!:dunce:

B-Spec is the worst feature in any game ever! What's the point of having your console on, having the AI drive drive the cars and having no fun at all? What's the point spending electrical energy pointlessly!!👎:yuck:

The new tagline for GT5:
Gran Turismo 5
It's so realistic, it has the carbon footprint of a real car

So he adds one thing to the game and because you don't use it ,it suddenly becomes stupid and un-neccassary??. Do you know what Kaz has planned for the future of GT5? If you do your the only one.

And yes B-Spec does more than give you money, you can train a driver to have desired attributes eg hot or cold headed, aggresive or defensive etc..How do you know in the future that events won't be held that require you to use a B-spec driver to drive for portions or other situations that require a b-spec driver with good skill such as the CE comp to win a car with B-spec driver.

Anyone else actually remember that Kaz stated GT5 will be like an 'evolving beast' and that Gran Turismo 5 " has only just begun"

It seems people just wanna clock the game (level 40) and then go back to COD or other said game, and i get the feeling Kaz isn't interested in pleasing these "quick fix" people.

People bitch and moan about every facet of the game it's un-believeable, before i joined GTP i hadn't heard all the wishlists etc... if it wasnt for online racing/leagues i sure as hell wouldn't have signed up. Take top gear track for example - Kaz has already stated the top gear track leaves open possibility's for Special online events for this track etc.. They will all come in due time, what's the rush to have everything right now It's the western world's attitude of now now now, i have to have it right now or not at all.
There is PLENTY of other content to keep you amused in the mean time.

Have people not seen how easily the seasonal events were added? The spot in the menu was already there before seasonal events came along- they didn't just think at the last minute to add them, the menu is designed to have the seasonal tab. It's very apparent to an observant person that GT5 has been made to be updated/changed/added to with ease. If people are still so ignorant to think this is the only events we will have for the rest of GT5 then so be it.
I can see a few places on the menu where there will be 'tabs' in future - Speculation

As for the grinders...lol well what do i say? Ever hear of special events, licenses, the races in A-Spec you don't like, Seasonal Events. I'm at level 33 and haven't had to re-do a single race , I REALLY REALLY don't know what this grinding nonsense is about. If your trying to just get to level 40 as quick as possible then yeah your gonna have to grind, but if you sit back and enjoy the game, play through the different content you will see there is no need to grind. Why the rush to level 40 anyway? You hoping for a certificate for your wall? The game doesn't change at level 40, so just enjoy it.

No I can't, I have school and my Mum will be able to hear the humming of my PS3.

What I understod from earlier news items is that your PS3 still has to run GT5 in order to use Gran turismo anywhere.

So for you this won't change anything, sorry.

So, once I'm level 40 B-Spec, what use is any of the B-Spec stuff?

I'm doing 90% of B-Spec with the TV turned off. I'm only completing the events for the car prizes and completion aspect.

Honestly, if a feature like this misses the release date, then it should have been scrapped, and the resources allocated to the multitude of things that need attention. 2 months after the game comes out, many people have already got to level 35 for the X2010.

I think we could power a small country for a year with the number of non attended ps3 hours this game has clocked up.

Btw, I love A-Spec and online.

I'm level 34 B-Spec at the moment - I just wish this 9 hours would hurry up so I can play already!

Ummmm case and point? Why are you doing B-spec 9 hour endurance during time that you want to play?
B-Spec can race while your asleep, your either making a stupid comment to emphasize your point or you really are silly enough to wait 9 hours so that you can race since there's nothing actually physically stopping you from racing.
I don't play B-spec personally (yet), because it doesn't appeal to my taste but i'm not irrational enough to think that every feature that I don't like should be tossed out.
There's actually other people in the world...

Dude, seriously take a chill pill.

I've been out for 6 hours, so Bob's been doing his thing.
It's a 9 hour race and I didn't know when I would be home.

How can you be defending B-Spec mode? Is there anyone that bought the game for B-Spec mode? Is there anyone who prefers watching the AI race instead of driving the cars? And if you are so bad at GT5 that you can't even gold any A-Spec event is the game worth it for the B-Spec mode? No in my opinion, you shouldn't even bother with a driving game!

You say I am not forced to use B-Spec mode. You are right, I tried it once it was awful and I won't use it again.

Some use B-Spec mode to get more cars and credits. Let me get this straight does this seem logical to you? Having your PS3 on, grinding B-Spec, being unable to watch a blu-ray or play another game, limiting your PS3 life, spending needlessly electrical energy, inflating pointlessly your electrical bill and if we count the total numbers of PS3 on grinding B-Spec hurting the environment without having some fun in return!

Way to go PD! You earned a trophy: Global Warming!:ouch:

Instead of tricking some players to needlessly use B-Spec, PD should just increase the credits from A-Spec events and give some proper prize cars instead of Daihatsu Midgets or VW Lupos.

And I don't give a damn about my A-Spec or B-Spec level. I don't even look at my level! I bought a driving game not an RPG.

And when a game developer spends time and money on a feature that no one likes (except maybe the brainwashed members of the GT5 Defense Force) while the core of the game have missing features (lack of cockpits, lack of mechanical damage in A-Spec Races, messed up balance of tires, no adjustable tire pressure, no saving between races and so on and so on) then this developer is no perfectionist but incompetent!:grumpy:

Of course the GT5 Defense Force will just repeat the same stuff about perfectionists and ever evolving game...👎:dunce:

Your not embracing B-spec for what it is.
You know those times when your watching a real race and your yelling at the TV "overtake him you damn fool" or "come on mate just hold on for the last 2 laps", well now you can do that, by managing the guy. Be the race engineer and actually direct your Bob.
If you just put Bob in a Enzo in the Sunday Cup your missing the point (cause you ain't even going to farm credits there! lol).
Try finding a car that is competitive for Bob to use against the opposition. The majority of B-spec races I've had to actually sit there and watch the whole race and give him encouragment/direction - thats the point.
Yes I could be doing the driving, but sometimes I've had enough of constantly passing crappy AI.
BTW I'm looking forward to this feature, but I fail to see how it will work as I've mentioned, it sounds like it will be purely for cash farming.

If B-Spec becomes multiplayer - that would be awesome! Managing your driver and strategy against other players would give B-Spec a whole new depth of enjoyment. Hopefully this is slated for the future - fingers crossed.

such a waste of time. they could bring in something more useful but never mind. TDU2 coming out shortly =)

Omg when will you ever get it, they will and are bringing in something more useful. This particular thing wasn't useful to you but you can be sure some of the next updates in the future will include something to your taste.

I completly agree with sk0pe.

And even if there is no use for it in the near future.
There are other people in the world you know.
What seems usless to one maybe what the other has been waiting for.

That would be fun :)

Which might be mildly entertaining if B-Spec wasn't so half-assed. If Bob actually gave meainingful feedback and you actually had meaningful input then I would totally agree with you.

Potential example - Bob says "Turn three has awful understeer", you use a nicely comprehensive menu system in the time you have before the next time he arrives there to ask him to adjust brake bias to 5/7 for that corner.

Reality - Bob arrives in turn three and spins the car out, you push the decrease pace button on the next lap in the runup to turn three - Bob spins it out again.

Rinse, Repeat.
