I have to say...I really did not expect this Lemans TT to be this much fun after my horrible runs in the last 2 (Bugatti Gr.4 and McLaren F1 GTR Gr.2). My first lap (in the Nissan) was 3:33 and I thought I would struggle to Gold this TT but I somehow managed 3:28.5 in an hour by simply getting the braking points correct and be patient on the throttle in corner exits without pushing much. Then I gave the Mazda a try, which has much poorer turn-in (Less front downforce?) but much better corner exits due to having no turbo lags and low-mid speed acceleration. I pushed like hell, and ended up the exact same of 3:28.5.

Then I jumped back to the Nissan, the better turn-in almost felt like I was on RM tyres instead of RH . Making good use of the new found confidence I managed a 3:28.0 in no time and decided to go for a few more laps to get into 3:27's.

Here is the result. Definitely a one-off lap that I probably won't be able replicate. I was way too conservative in the corner leading to the Mulsanne straight as well as been poor in Porsche curve as usual but otherwise, quite proud of my effort. :) May be able to gain more if I used 3rd in corner exits like @Vule suggested...

(This was from yesterday evening hence the high rank - should have dropped like a stone for now)

None of my friends play GT7. I really want to add some people just to fill up friendly time trial leader boards. Im a lonely pleb who only plays casually with a DuelSense.

PSN: MadShark41
Please add me.
Added you, I could do with some people from GT, don’t have any.

PSN: emsixteen87

I’m going to give this one another go in the Nissan before turning off the PS and crying to my dog for comfort.

Is it possible to race against my best ghost/time, after having left the race or restarted? I can’t seem to find where if so and am wondering if I’m just an idiot.

A couple more questions actually:
  • I see the top ghost (insane!) shifts from 4th to 5th really late in the Nissan around 193~, is that a common thing and are there optimal points for the other gears too?
  • I’ve always played this game with TCS2, ABS weak, everything else off, and mostly on controller, with sensitivity 7, and the force feedback sliders both on 5 - should I change these, or?

Thanks in advance, I’m clueless, I just like to vroom vroom.

Yes it's very possible only if you have saved your replay:
  • Ghost setting
  • Add a ghost
  • Select yours
  • Enjoy

1/ I downshift when I feel it is optimal, not based on aliens driving skills because they don't drive like me (or me like them)

2/ If you're comfortable and fast with these settings, go for it. There's no generic settings for all cars on all tracks, so you should adapt yours based on how you feel the car on the track.

Lots of time left, every time I blink it seems like it costs 3 or 4 tenths. Mazda has always been my go to Group C car.
It would appear that the Nissan is faster, but would it be faster for me? Would it be worth a couple of sessions to try to
learn a different combo with an unknown result? Would learning something else new cause me to forget the combination to the safe?
Is it better to try and clean up the mess I have now rather than learn something new? Best decision would probably be to take a nap.

TT-LeMans-RCP-5laps.jpg

New 5 laps stint at Le Mans, this time with the Nissan, given how much this car was praised here.

Decent improvement and lot of potential to be exploited, best sectors are all over the place.

Invalidated lap 3 in the last chicane, great, that's lap 4 in the bin too, nearly improved my time again.

Lap 5 tried a new way to get into Indianapolis by not braking in the right before but I had so much speed that I did not brake enough before Indianapolis, but I had a lot of braking potential that I did not used. I think it's possible to brake after the right.

I should watch a lap guide to get better braking points in general. The two chicanes in the Hunaudières are a bit like russian roulette at the moment, I loose time very easily there, while on other laps I pass them correctly, need to find consistency.

Silver seems far though...

Life has been so busy atm that GT7 is at the back end of things :eek:. AnywaysI thought I was going to be super rusty, but the pace wasn’t too bad for hotlapping. I fear the WR time will improve and this will be a silver in no time. Fast times here y’all. Keep pushing! 🥵

I just sent it for the last two chicanes and gained 2/10ths lol

After seeing all the top times on the leaderboard and discussion here about the Nissan being faster, I decided to stick with it. Not going to bother with the Mazda if it's clearly the slower car overall. A slight improvement in a relatively short session (this thing racks up the miles fast, so it looked like a lot of time was put in compared to other TT's) after doing a bit more acceleration in 3rd gear instead of wheel spinning in 2nd. There is quite a bit of time to gain. It would require a full second pickup, but I think a 3:27 might be possible for me.

Good to know! My quickest time so far is in the Mazda. Might have to give the Nissan a run tomorrow

So this morning when booted up I noticed Kaj had joined the club, and my 29.3 was at exactly 3% 🤣, so there has been a Slaughter on gold medals 🤣🤣

Took the advice of getting in the Nissan, boy that is a different approach than the 787B, very hard to get on the power, that turbo is epic, and sounds epic too!
It's definitely faster when you sort of know where to to shift and shortshift into 3th on exit, but one thing I have trouble with is the shifting itself, lots of times it just doesn't go in 3th, rotate on 1th and altho I press twice, it just stays in 2nd, what messes up my momentem big time and have to deal with turbo supadoopa wheelspin 🤣

But at the end of my session this morning I did understand the car a bit better, lots of errors in the lap, misshifts, missed apexes and burning rear tires, but at least 2.67% and top 300 🙈🙈🙈🤣🤣🤣🤣

@Evilmuffin if you ask me it's definitely not the easiest one to gold, and I kind of like it,
It isnt my strongest track by far and had to work to get that, the problem is that time left on the table, I see hours of time to gain in this lap, but yes..... just a few corners, how hard can it be 🙈🤣🤣

@half_sourly ....I heard someone said something about a dutch dude and getting into the 27's quickly....
Never mind he probably switched names or something ......👽
Nice job mr stats 😁💪

 Thank you. I spent some time yesterday looking at Chafe's replay and was able to apply the odd bit here and there. As ever with these long tracks, I have no consistency, but managed one lap with decent sectors throughout. The spread is nuts - I'm 140th of 50,500 drivers, but 4.5 seconds off number 1!

For what it is worth, the main things that I think helped are:
  • Replicating his gearing - example shifting to 4th for Tertre Rouge, exiting most other corners in 3rd.
  • For the couple of corners where you exit in 2nd (Mulsanne, Arnage, Ford) - going to about 90% throttle steadily, then only to 100% when you have traction - removes or reduces the wheelspin.
  • I know replays show braking inputs later than they really are, but even then pulling back a bit on his braking points. Especially for the two chicanes down the Mulsanne straight - better to set up for a good exit than try and brake ten meters later.

A couple more questions actually:
As @Pesselles said if you 'save best lap' replay each time you get a PB then you can go to the ghost settings and load it...

You can then also set it a certain distance in front of you to stop it from being in your way, and then chase it...

I tend to start with an alien ghost at 0.3 ahead to see braking points and then as I get quicker I reduce it to 0.2 to better follow their lines through corners.

  • I see the top ghost (insane!) shifts from 4th to 5th really late in the Nissan around 193~, is that a common thing and are there optimal points for the other gears too?
If you watch @Tidgney guides, he will mention what is generally the optimal shift point for each car, some prefer short shift and some are better to rev right to the end.

Downshifting also has an effect on weight shift so sometimes is also better to hold A higher gear longer when braking instead of shifting down quickly.

  • I’ve always played this game with TCS2, ABS weak, everything else off, and mostly on controller, with sensitivity 7, and the force feedback sliders both on 5 - should I change these, or?
I tend to stick with ABS weak unless I am getting lock up, only then will I switch to default.

TCS I try not to use but some cars I need to and tend not to go above 2 if possible.

CSA is sometimes a blessing in disguise, I tend to use this now since the 1.50 update when I'm on the controller.

The force feedback sliders will not affect the controller at all unless you are using motion steering.

I used to always leave the sensitivity slider at 10 on controller and wheel but again, since update 1.50 I tend to have it at -2 near enough all the time as I get a smoother input and less snap oversteer.

Hope this helps you

(Disclaimer - I am a human, not like some of these aliens in disquise on here 😂)

I don't disagree with this post

(how to say I agree without saying I agree)

Thanks for the tips mate, I'll look into that, and will study the top laps for a change.
I can relate to the inconsistency and that was worse because it was my first run in the Nissan but felt better than the Mazda.
Braking is indeed a thing, and still figuring out if I do have to use 1th, in not realy a fan of it because I takes somuch speed out of it if you fail.

Lots of work to be done, 😁

The spread is indeed insane, and I wonder what the gold percentage will je in the end?!

I think im giving up...1,5 hours and still 1,7 seconds of gold time.Really frustrating stuff
Same here, 1.5 sec from gold now and 7.5sec from WR.... That's crazy.
Our level of frustration is beyond our most crazy expectations.

These kind of TTs make me realize how far I'm very from aliens and how my driving skills are still really poor. In fact, it's more educative than frustrating.

Unforgiving track limits.
Force Feedback that give my kidneys a workout.
A car that I don't quite have the reflexes for.
The Porsche Curves 🙉

All this is no fun for me. But I won't give up that easily. Gold seems far off but I'm hoping I can string this all together🤞

Started with the Nissan. Will get to the Mazda as well.

i thought i was much better ,atleast i was much closer before that summer physics update ,but oh well ,what can i do :D

My friend, race car is not to learn how to drive fast, but to learn humility.
Whether it's on GT7 or on a real circuit, there is always a faster driver, whatever we do, whatever the car used, whatever the budget, etc.

I thought I could at least score in gold for once at Le Mans (In fact, I did but was rejected in silver).

Here is Chafe's lap. I find it easier in YouTube where I can slow it down, stop, etc.

Thanks for sharing, it's so impressive to watch and very instructive.

(at the exit of the 1st chicane, I'm 2 sec behind.... :indiff: I've stopped the video here  )

Thank you for this video upload.
I find it very useful to have replays on YouTube, sometimes when I am at work, I want to see some lap, but I have to wait until I come home and turn on PS... But me suggesting it to Kaz won't make it happen, right 😁
Also have more wishes that will never happen, I wish video replays uploaded to YouTube could show both mp/h and km/h , ... Hmm... Maybe I should start with man in the mirror, I only upload km/h sooo.... 🤐
