I have that game(DTM/TOCA/V8 Race Driver 2) for PC and i play it online very often. It's a lot of fun.

PS2 version also has an added track Catalunya and this adds 99 more races to the career mode or something. :) Plus PS2 will have Pro-Sim mode for use with wheels. :D

Got it for the Xbox, but I think I'll get it for the PS2... because of support for DFP 900 degrees and because of the inclusion of my hometown track...

best ever racing online experience! (besides GPL)

How good are the game's convertible models? I wonder if the convertible race shows driver's details; like shifting and steering, etc...

I have this for the X-box and I would give it a 9.5 out of 10!! The online is 9.8 out of 10!! Headsets, damage, pit in, 12 people. Just very impressive online and offline!!! 👍 👍 I will also get this for PS2.
Offline there are 20 cars!!!

Just for the record, there is a Pro-Sim option on the PC version aswell. The only thing that the PS2 version is getting added is the Circuito de Catalunya.

Yeah PC does have Pro-Sim, it was over the Xbox version I was talking about was all, you would expect the PC to have Pro-Sim.

edit: There's quite a fuss over it at cm's forums, the PS2 is also getting improved pro-sim physics too apparantly.

There´s a thread of this already.... but anyway, I think the release date is Oct. 7th actually. And I´m getting it as soon as it´s released.

I hope it won´t lag online.

Hey, looks kinda biotch'n ! Love all the cars offline, what would be good racing experience......looks like camaroboy's doing a little fender banging though....( ok in my books, but others may say nay )

Try driving like that in Pro-Sim and you would spin if you touched the grass, spin taking a corner too fast and generally have to be careful with the throttle as you can't go all out. Nice vid, driving's a bit destruction derbyish, I expected the racing to be like Touring Cars but that was just all out smash and bash. Venting some anger at all?

THat video was made by a friend of mine before I even had an x-box. I just had it at work and posted it. 👍

Actually I think the Xbox version supports 24 cars on track, and the PS2 will support up to 22 cars at the same time.

Most races wont have than many so its no big deal to start with. Alos Codemasters uses tricks and techniques to get that many cars, its not raw power.

I saw a GTR trailer yesterday and it says it will support up to 56 cars at the track. Now that sounds like fun! :)

I extremely doubt that you will be able to race with 56 people online on 1 server. That's just not possible.Offline however,it is possible but you will have to have a monster PC in order to see all those 56 cars in moderate detail. In the demo i got 60fps(limited at 60fps) with maximum detail but i doubt i'll even have half of that amount with 56 cars running on the track.

Well im using the PC version.

First : THE STORY is more then gaga then words of G:B:... belive me its really BORING.. at the end no bonus or more cars NADA NULL NIENTE NOTHING so hmm a little small with 50 races and with 99 it will change nothing...

so online it great but playing without collison-->with it it laggs to much----

so its just a ARCADE racer with freature like pro sim ( also incl. in PC V. ) but many cars sucks really, many are to slow others well........and the tracks are not good designed.

so enjoy the online part , and now my question : its poss. to play ps2 vs PC with that game ??

I had it for X-box. after the 50% mark it was all gold. lots of banging and crashing. very good game.

my question is; how do I play online, what equipment do I need and does dialup affect the racing?

thanks

On Xbox you need to purchase the Xbox Live! kit and a Broadband connetion only. For the PS2 you´ll need a Network Adapter. But it´s required Broadband connection for most games, this one included. Just a few old games can be played with dial-up.

Hey,you are from German Racing Freaks Satan-San.I used to race against you guys back with Race Driver 1( i was in the DTC and e-MTL aswell).Anyway, this game is definetly not Arcade. It's more Simulation then Arcade. If they manage to write a good netcode then there won't be much lag unless people start playing with 56k connections wich isn't all bad, just don't go to servers with more then 6 people.

EDIT
I just realizied you were talking about Race Driver 2.It ain't too bad but it's definetly not SIM.The Pro-Sim option is way too hard and the SIM option is very fake. You hardly need to brake, just steer in and the car brakes automatically. That's why i quit e-MTL because the game was bad.

I'm looking forward to it. I think it's out on the 15th October in the UK.
I hope the cars have a real weight to them and not all floaty and light, with a good feeling of the suspension.
I played Race Driver 1 but found the handling a little odd...all oversteer and tank slappers. But maybe that was just me!

It looks a lot better than Race Driver 1, though looks are'nt everything. Maybe my only possible gripe is the lack absence of certain cars. For example I know the Trans-America Champ Jaguar is in, but is the Corvette or the Mustang?
Anyway, I certainly hope the online mode works well now that GT4's online is delayed.

No Corvette but the Mustangs are in.Standard car,no racing version.Anyway, the handling of some cars is extremely easy, like for example DTM.Those things feel like F1 cars. You can practically steer into a corner at 200 km/h and still make it with ease. There are other series wich are fun to drive,so don't worry.I would still get this game. It's currently the best racing game on PC and that says a lot.

Does anyone remember the track that had about (4) chicanes right in a row? That is my favorite track in that game!! Laguna seca has (1) chicane just for comparison.
I only played the single player portion about 12% of the game. All my other time has been online. Absolutely excellent online. 👍

You mean Surfer's Paradise? At the back of the track there is a corner(s) going left, right, left, right, left.I don't consider it a chicane but it's similar.

The track im thinking of you go uphill for quite a while then you make a sharp left turn. Right after that it is all downhill chicanes just like laguna seca but there are at least 4 of them. You can look to the left and see trees and beautiful scenery.
edit: Oh then after you get thru the chicanes there is a slight left then wide open straight away for quite a while and a nasty 90degree turn to the left at the end and if you go too fast you end up in sand. After that is the finish line.

From wich series is that track?I can't remember a track that has 4 chicanes in a row.
