how about Billy Piper, ive just watched 25th hour again and hes very good in that, i also liked him in Saving Private Ryan.
I seached that name and some hot girl came up, and I know she wasn't in Saving Private Ryan. So I continued on searching and realized that you are probably talking about Barry Pepper!

Gil
How about Marg Helgenberger?
She played opposite Steven Seagal in one of his crap movies, but she was brilliant.
She's also very good in CSI.

Jennifer Aniston has more chops than she gets credit for. She gets noted for a lot of stuff, but she is pretty talented on screen as well.

Jack Elam, was one of the best "side-kicks" to ever show his ugly mug in a western.

Ernest Borgnine was/is also very wide ranging. From comedy, to action, to drama. He was a good good guy, and a better villan.

Jan Michael Vincent--before he fell into the bottle.
Jennifer Aniston's definitely underappreciated. Hey! Last two fellas are from "Air Wolf". :D 👍

woops my bad :dunce:

Its probably because i was watching the 25th hour while reading a magazine with an article on her. damm i mdumb sometimes :)

:D

Billie Piper is the latest in a long, venerated, line of 'Companions' to the various incarnations of "Dr. Who".

It's quite suitable for her name to come up in this thread actually as she has, until lately, been rather dismissed due to her fame beginning in the pop industry. I was at first prone to join the 'Anti' brigade when it was announced she was going to join the Doctor but she had the last laugh as she turned out to be pretty good :)!

I forgot all about this thread! I saw the DVD of "Disclosure" today, and I want to add Michael Douglas to the list. He's been in so many movies I've enjoyed, but I've never heard anyone say he's their favorite actor. If you haven't seen them, I'd like to suggest couple of good rental movies featuring Michael Douglas. One is the "Disclosure". Second one is "The Game". I really liked "The Game". It's one CRAZY movie. 👍

Jim Carrey Jim Carrey Jim Carrey. Ever seen Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind? Check it out. Same goes for the Truman Show.

Brad Pitt did impress me in Snatch, but there's no way he's better than DiCaprio, which is my next choice.

Oh, and how about Philip Seymore Hoffman?

...and Man On The Moon. Carrey is quite under-rated

Jim Carey is a suprisingly good actor, it's a pity it's hard for him to get out of roles that play on his comic style, he'd be great in a lot of roles, I've always though it's be cool if he got a role as a psycopath, but not in a Batman film.

Not really sure if either Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, or Jim Carrey could in any way be considered "underappreciated" or "underrated." But hey, that's just my opinion!

Cable Guy.

I mean like a more serious psyco like plain evil in a more adult film, I did forget about cable guy when I typed that post though.

I think Brad Pitt is a good actor and appreciated about right, Leonardo DiCaprio is probably underrapreciated at the moment, Jim Carrey I find is very underappreciated for his acting skills, he's a far better actor than people credit him for, he is recognised as good but I think he can be great.

I think Brad Pitt's acting ability is definitely underated. I think it's top notch. 👍

I saw this list of "Top 10 Underappreciated Actors" by Parade Magazine yesterday:

Brian Dennehy
Forest Whitaker
Steve Martin
John Cusack
Alan Rickman
Steve Buscemi
Gary Oldman
Kevin Bacon
Richard Gere
Donald Sutherland

I think Sutherland was in 1st and Dennehy was in 10th, but Parade Magazine didn't mark the actual rank, so I'm not sure. I really agree with the selection of Brian Dennehy though. I've liked his work for very long time.....

That list, with the exception of Brian Dennehy and Alan Rickman, is moronic. None of those actors are "underappreciated." John Cusack? He's been in tons of stuff, many times in the leading role. Kevin Bacon and Steve Buscemi are also in tons of movies, usually with pretty large roles. Does this magazine consider "underapreciated" to mean they haven't had many starring roles? I think most of these actors are good, but I don't really see how they're underappreciated. I personally don't want to see any more of Steve Buscemi, because he bores me now and he still hasn't done anything about his teeth. Richard Gere should be banned from movies from now until the day he dies.

Gary Oldman? Again, a terriffic actor who I don't see as being underappreciated.

And I hate Steve Martin, but he still lands leading roles in the crappiest movies of all, like Cheaper By The Dozen 1 & 2. And he's not funny. Revenge Of The Pink Panther is proof positive.

I love Alan Rickman, though. Why isn't he in any movies lately?

Anderton Prime

Besides Harry Potter, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and 2 movies coming out in 2006? :)

Nice list so far. I don't have any to add off the top of my head.

Brian Dennehy - Top Notch
Forest Whitaker - Ghost Dog Way Of The Samurai = top notch underated film.
Steve Martin - Agree with AP.
John Cusack - Again v-good actor.
Alan Rickman - One of the funniest and yet scariest actors ever. "Give him a big hand, he's British" lol
Steve Buscemi - Excellent actor and writer.
Gary Oldman - if you want to see him shine watch "Meantime"
Kevin Bacon - Tremors is all I can say.
Richard Gere - Sucks
Donald Sutherland - Very good actor.

Another Underated actor is Tim Roth who stars with Gary Oldman in Meantime.

I think I agree with Anderton, except on Gary Oldman, and I agree with you on Tim Roth. I'll have to check out this movie, "Meantime".

Yeh its an old "For TV" movie made in England in '84 it also stars people from various TV programmes. Very good film, although a little dipressing. I bought it on DVD a couple of years ago for £10 along with Made in Britan (staring Tim Roth)

No wonder I couldn't find it! I did watch this movie called "Romeo Is Bleeding", with Gary Oldman and literally bunch of notable actors in it, and they were giving some of their best performances. If anybody reading this hasn't seen this movie, I highly recommend renting it. 👍
