I suggest going to the drift team subforum to see when whatever team you wanna join hosts lobbies. Then live there and show you have skill and maybe, just maybe, they'll ask you to join them.

I suggest you re-read this...

Acceptable Use Policy
You will not use “textspeak” (“r”, “u”, “plz”, etc.) in your messages. Decent grammar is expected at all times, including proper usage of capital letters.

...because right now, you're making a name for yourself for the wrong reasons.

Sorry I use an iPhone

Being on a phone is not an excuse for poor grammar/English....I'm on my iPhone right now. I think Daan was simply referring to your use of the word "wanna" as opposed to "want to".

To answer your original question - most GTP regulars don't hang out in public lobbies, must of us hide out in each other's lounges. That said, we do venture out into the open lobby from time to time.

A few of the teams here on GTP host weekly open lobby drift sessions. Follow the "Night Slide" link in my sig to go to the thread about our event :)

It will take some time to build your friends list, but once you've added a bunch of GTPers, you'll see we all tend to congregate together, so it becomes easier as easier to find good rooms.

Welcome to GTP

All i can suggest is become active and be sure not to drift 4wd.If you are learning on a steering wheel i have been tutoring people on how to gain experience at a much faster level.

But as mentioned above most will host private lobbies to keep out the newbies but on weeknights and weekends there are more than enough DORI rooms open.

I definitely don't do 4wd quite happy with the M3 GTR and Camaro, what's this whole lounge thing then, I've only been on PS3 a month so still learning, forza habbits die hard.

Yus!! We've converted another one from the dark side 👍

Lounges work just like Open Lobbies, but they are not listed in the "Open Lobby" menu on the main GT home screen. To get to your lounge go to the "Community" menu (left side of home screen). Here, you'll see your wall, a list of all your GT5 friends, as well as a bunch of other options including "compose mail", "receive gift", etc. Near the bottom of the "Community" screen you should see an icon that, when you mouse over it, it says "my lounge". Click OK to join your lounge. The first time you do, you'll have to adjust a few settings (these settings can be reconfigured by going through the options menu near the bottom left of the main GT Home screen).

The main "feature" of a lounge as opposed to a lobby, is that only people on your friends list can join your lounge (whereas anyone can join your open lobby).

On the "Community" screen, you can scroll through a list of all your PSN friends who have GT5 (ordered by either A Spec, B Spec, or Online Status). If you click on their profile pic, you get to see their "home screen", where you can see their message board, as well as a little more info about the player. From this screen, you can "follow" a friend into a lounge or lobby that they are already in (look for a small, yellow, round icon attached to their lounge icon).

GTP regs can be found in open lobbies, but you have to know what to look for.
• Avoid lobbies that have silly names (profanity, immaturity, etc, or rooms that have more than one purpose, ie drift/drag/trade). Look for lobbies with "CH" in the name, as this means everyone will be on CH tires. Rooms with "Dori" in the name tend to be pretty good as well, as a lot of noobs don't know that dori stands for drift lol. Hang around here long enough, and you'll learn the names of most of the GTP teams...any time you see a GTP team name in a lobby name, you're almost gaurenteed a good room.
• most GTPers tend to avoid the open lobbies where Tsukuba, Suzuka East, or High Speed Ring are the track. All are great tracks, but for us vets, are extremely played out. These three are the most common tracks to learn drifting on, so they tend to attract less skilled players...us GTP folk enjoy more of a challenge :sly:

The GT5 UI is definitely not the greatest (arguably amongst the worst LOL), so it can take some time to figure it all out. But once you get past the UI, the game rocks!! Hope this helps you find good rooms more often 👍

I'll just add another note: Drift with people from your area/country. It helps best to get to know "local" drifters more and get involved in teams relevant to your country. However, it's good to join the room of any GTP team regardless of country. In the teamJDMT rooms there can often be euro or US GTP members, as well as Japanese.

Just adding on twitcher's post from three or four posts ago...
-Nightslide-Team NEMESIS-Thurs @ 10pm PST
-Dori Matsuri- JDM_Tuning/JDMT-Every Friday 5.00pm to 8.00pm
-LoosendsDriftFriday-Loosends Drift Krew-LDC -every friday
-Team Driftworks- I see nothing on there Thread but I am sure they have something.

There is a few that I know of the top of my head, I just went to there GTP Thread and had a look for times,JDMT Have lobbies open just about everyday threw out the week, Team NEMESIS. I wouldn't have a clue and Loosends Drift Krew-LDC is not a big clan but is owned by myself, I generally have lobbies open, Team Driftworks- I see nothing on there page, Have a look threw the Sub-forum "Drift Teams and meets" But I would rather slide with any of the above teams, rather then Loosends. Because they have a higher level of skill.I slide with JDMT Regularly, SLAB, has rooms open all the time(from above) and he is a good drifter, talk to some of them about sliding with them.

Hope it help's.

If you wish to make a name for yourself, picking different name might help. Theres a ton of drift-monkeys out there, maybe something like Drift-Squid or Drift-Goat could helped you get noticed over the generic monkey.
Practice, over and over. Untill a team notices and thinks your worthy.

Good Luck from White Smoke Gang !

Sorry I use an iPhone
Not an excuse. Last I checked, an iPhone has a fully featured keyboard that appears on the screen for you to use. The bit from the AUP that I quoted doesn't go on to say, "except if you're using a mobile and then you can type however you like," does it?

Your next post was better though. 👍

I think Daan was simply referring to your use of the word "wanna" as opposed to "want to".
Nope. I was referring to the first post that included no punctuation apart for a solitary question mark. There should have been a few commas and perhaps a full stop or 2.

Cheers for all the replys, Nemesis looks good but that lobby would be 6AM here so no good. Few name suggestions then as Driftmonkeys always been mine on Xbox.
As for coming from the darkside it was more why am I paying 40 pound a year to listen to 9 year olds scream ;)

R3DTUB3 DRFTS3X  Best silly name lobby around. 👍

My friend makes a lobby called "DRIFT AND 🤬". I hope that doesn't count as breaking the AUP... :scared:

Also, just to add to this thread, you can add people. As twitcher said, GTP drifters usually stay within each other's lounges, so you can't get in unless you're friends with at least one of them. Why not send a PM to a team leader asking for a tryout and see where that goes? Worst case scenario is that he rejects you and you just have him as a friend on PSN, so you can still join him and be part of the lounge sessions.

If you're having no luck with it, Wolfpack is more than happy to give you a chance. We spend about half the time in public lobbies and the other half in private lounges. Add xX-nilo-Xx and we'll see how you do.

Best of luck from Team Wolfpack!
Cheers, Nilo.

That offer to the OP Only?

Sorry for the double post.

Last night I started a thread announcing that in the upcoming weekend, I will host a Back to School Drift Lobby. All the details are here and you're welcome to join.

So far, Wolfpack and RedSuns Mafia are attending. You don't need to be part of a team to join the lobby, however it could be a great way to "make a name" for yourself, as this thread suggests.

Got a drift challenge that has a 5% success rate called nightmare.135 people have attempted it.6 have successfully completed it.if u break the record of most consecutive perfect laps I will give u 6 cars.

I'm doubtful.

I have a drift challenge as well that has 100% success rate, which is at Tsukuba circuit. If you drift around the track, I will give you a bowl of rice.
