We may need an update for the app

I was wondering if we could have an update for the GTP app. It's cluttered up and slow on the Android and iPad, and it doesn't support GIF's and some emoticons don't show up. And I know the iPhone/Pod is compatible with GIF's. It's a bit frustrating; I can't properly view the Funny GIF Thread.

Whaddya say?

I agree, but I think there should be a limit on visible GIFs. Imagine trying to load a page with 30 of them...non-stop crashing and hanging.

I think this will answer your overall question.

The app is still fully supported, but this is an error which can be displayed from time to time. The description of the problem it's reporting isn't entirely accurate and can be safely ignored; just keep refreshing the page, closing or re-starting the app, or sign out of your account within the app and then sign back in if the problem persists.

As noted above, the apps will eventually be replaced with a new mobile website which will fully resolve these types of issues. More information on that will be available later.

Yup. 👍

But until this arrives, have you tried clearing out the system cache ? I've an Android RAZR and it works just fine. Another thing to try. Try accessing the site via your browser instead of the app and see if it works any better.

Yes, support for GTPlanet's mobile apps ended in March and they will receive no further updates. I'm still working on the new website I mentioned in that other post, which will be optimized to provide a full experience across all mobile platforms.

To answer your specific question, yes, animated GIF files will be supported, as they are on any other web page.

Sounds good, thanks! 👍

I can't wait for this new website that's coming :D I hope it's coming along well, Jordan

Good :) 👍. Even using this site via safari on the iPad is a bit annoying in terms of web page navigation
