So GT5's got changing weather and day night cycles during endurance races? Well that's all very well, but how exactly are we supposed to know what the weather will change to? I remember somewhere I read, and I'm just paraphrasing here, "You will get weather forecasts etc. but they may be wrong" or something like that. But where? Don't tell me it's got to be patched in. If you've already got the weather working, shouldn't the forecasts be working too?

What level does weather come in at?

I am at Lvl 23 and haven't even seen any "fixed" weather (eg wet races) let alone random / variable weather...

I came across rain in the Super GT series around Suzuka and also on the Dream Car series (dream car is one level up from yourself if I remember correctly). I've not come across a race within which the weather changes as you race, if it does happen and you do get weather forecasts maybe it's only on the endurance races at Suzuka, Le Mans and The Nurb'

I've seen weather changes in Spec B. Either in the Dream car series or Formula GT or both. I've seen weather changes in special events (maybe just rally). I also ran a practice race at La Sarthe where it started raining during the day, the rain stopped some time during the night and it was sunny the next morning.

I remember in the rally special event intermediate one of them started dry and then rained a few minutes into the lap. Pretty awesome! 👍

Rally special beginner event I had light rain for a bit of the final special stage, and that's an early event.

So if I go to practice, within GT mode, and select free run, would it change weather/time of day if I keep driving round?

I had weather change in ummmm the Nurb 3 laps race in Dreamcar series. Started raining and after 1st lap all the AI car went to pit to change tire (had already soft tires). Which gaves me a nice lead :D

RedBullRacer : I'm not sure about practice but I saw it happen during Free qualifing in online lobby, we did Suzuka and we started practice with sunny condition and it went into rain after 3-4 laps of time attacking.

The weather ALWAYS cycles in arcade races... Unfortunately for my non-racing cars it always STARTS with Rain!!! And never gets dry properly, even after the rains stopped, which it will do.

I ran a few laps in free run and didn't notice a change. Maybe I needed to do more laps to notice a change. However the race I did was 6 laps and it was night after no more than 3 laps.

It's been a while and I'm 94% of the game yet I've never seen the weather change in an enduro race, nevertheless a regular race. The only exception is dream car and I think one FGT race, but the weather is fixed never variant. I mean I wish that during the enduro that it would change, would make the game more realistic. 💡

On the maps that DO feature "weather change" the weather always changes the same. Nurb for example, starts off with rain, then clears up for a short time then starts raining as it turns dark and keep raining for some time.
The weather, while it changes, isnt very dynamic.

I've seen nothing in my races... I am almost done with the game too.

Lol..... according to your sig, you are about halfway done with the game, unless you mean you are just about ready to quit. :dopey:

We use variable weather in our online series all the time, you never know when, or if, it will rain. The time change can be controlled.

Threads like this make me realize that there is an offline variant to this game. Again, no idea why one would play offline and not play online.

There are several tracks that can be configured to have sunny, raining, or variable weather and can have time progression enabled.

Thread is from December 2010.

However it does raise an interesting point, I do remember them mentioning that there would be weather forecasts that may be right or wrong. What happened to those?

I remember this thread hell I posted in it :)

All I remember Kaz saying was that we couldn't make it rain if we wanted to because the game decided that, or some mumbo jumbo. So Kaz did get that part of the game right "Weather, but you can't really change it":guilty:

What still annoys me is that we can't run the time/weather courses in arcade mode with only one variant, it's got to be both. It obviously didn't occur to them we might want a wet race in the day or dry night race in arcade mode.
