Cizeta V16T: It sounds EXACTLY like the real one :)

Wow! Finally!! Someone that noticed it. Good call!

Like 90% of cars sound great with their stock exhaust simply because it´s what sticks more to the real thing. You all know that putting a different exhaust into a car, will give as result a random engine sound that most of the time doesn´t match the real car´s engine. Except for some.

For me, the best sounding cars are, and in most cases just because they sound like the real thing, or at least have a sound that matches their engine(will mention a very few. Too many in my list):

-Blastolene Special (Jay Leno thingy. Full throttle in 4th gear at low revs. Third person view. Man!!)
-Cizeta Moroder V16T (This car is the most exact engine sound in the whole game, maybe. I simply don´t understand how can PD get the correct sounds with the most rare car, and mess it up with more comon cars like the Viper GTS...just an example.)
-Ferrari California/430/430 Scuderia
-Ferrari 458
-Ferrari 599 (omg. EPIC! I´m glad that PD fixed the sound that it had in Prologue)
-Jaguar XKR (Beautiful sound, specially when heard in third person. Probably the best modern V8 sound in the game)
-Mercedes SL500 R129 (Might have the same sound that many V8 Mercs in the game, but since it´s my favorite Benz, I have to mention it)
-Lexus LFA (Needs improvement though. It sounds too artifitial. But still, I´m glad that PD tried to copy the sound for a car that is known just for its sound.)
-Subaru Impreza WRX STi Spec C Type RA (Contrary from what people might think, it actually sounds like the real JDM Imprezas with the 2.0 engine.)

Cars that get fixed with exhausts:

-Dodge Viper SRT/10 ACR (Curiosly, it has an incorrect sound sample with the stock exhaust, sounding much like a 4 cylinder, or a racing flatplane V8. With the Sports exhaust, it does sound like a genuine Viper V10.)
-Honda S2000 (sounds much raspier and more like the typical tuned Honda engine with the Semi Racing Exhaust.)

And many more. Too many to mention...

And Finally someone make a really good post like yours sir.

Hell yeah, the Cizeta sounds really amazing! The thing got a V16... basically its like 2 V8s welded... and thats how it sounds.

Another car that I simply love its the E46 M3 CSL because it really does sound like the real thing in the 3rd person view... and its awesome because it does sound different than the regular M3 just like it is.

And after you see this video you'll agree with me. Enjoy!

Trust me, man! As a BMW lover, I know. I remember how they made the six cylinder M´s in GT4 sound different (M3, M3CSL and Z4M). And yes, the M3 CSL... third person view every single time I drive that baby! I´m kind of dissapointed that the regular E46 M3 has the same V8 sound from the E92, don´t know what happened with PD in that case. A sad mistake perhaps.

On the other hand, the E46 M3 GTR went the other way around since it finally sounds like a V8 (in GT4 it had the same L6 sound from the Z4M). You should try this one in third person view as well. That thing sounds amazing!!

Awesome vid, btw :D

Yeah! Bimmerlover here too, I could die for an E36 and E34 in GT5...

But I could swear that the regular M3 sounded correct... need to check it out again! About the GTR, hell yeah it does sound great!

...

Just checked and yeah, it sounds kinda like the E92... what a shame... BUT if you use the sports or semi-racing exhaust it doesn't sound like a V8 anymore and perhaps even a bit straight-6 a like?

Trevor Speed 12 - Unique engine sound to the car. Just a monsterous roar.

Chaparral 2D '67 - Brilliant classic American motors are the best.

F1 cars:tup:
69 camaro rm
The Ferrari 330 p4 sounds kind of vintage
The 10 million dollar alfa
Stock merc c63 sounds good
69 camaro z28 with sport exhaust

Hell yeah that 69' Camaro RM has a beautiful rumble to it.

Seriously? I haven't owned that car for months, but I seem to recall selling it because I was sorely underwhelmed by the engine sound (and the 430 sounds pretty weak to me as well, I like the 458 and the California though).

You are talking about cockpit or bumper cam, right?
I've come across many cars that sound anemic in those two views but quite good in roof/hood and behind the car, but that's utterly useless to me as I don't consider those two latter view points acceptable ways to play a racing game with sim aspirations (hood cam would have been somewhat acceptable, but in the vast majority of the GT5 cars it seems to be a roof cam instead, so you're floating around above the other cars).

Well, yeah, I agree with the Cali, and 430/430 Scuderia, but to be honest, they do sound close to what they should sound, although weak like you say. Now the 458, I have to admit it does sound like the real thing, although many say it sounds like a Honda(they should listen more carefully and compare it with the real thing).

As for the 599, I feel it´s the best V12 sound in the game, specially at low revs, and in third person view. If you remember the sound it had in Prologue, you´ll notice why.

I strictly use cockpit cam. I don´t care about being faster than others, I just care about enjoying the full sim experience the best way possible, and to be honest, I´m so used to it, that I get the best times with that view. It feels more natural. Although like you say, the sound with that view is kind of muffled.

With standards I use "hood" cam. That "new" blacked out interior view doesn´t cut it for me, because of the lack of visual reference, like the hood. Unless it´s the Prowler, Super 7 or any other open-wheeler.

When I´m just playing around with the car (premium or standard), I usually use third person, just to enjoy the sound.

Im surprised no one said anything about the Tom's Chaser it sounds really sick with a sport exhaust :)

I´m going to try that! The Chaser was one of my favorite cars in GT4. Come to think of it, I havn´t seen the Chaser since I bought GT5 last year. I´ll have check the UCD more ofter :D

You'll have a hard time finding one! :(

One of the rarest cars in GT5...

Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 Turbo, the old early 90's one or whatever. Man that V6 sounds fantastic. Exactly how a V6 should sound.

I apologize if its been mentioned but the Mazda 787B has the best idle sound of all the cars in GT5. Pure badass! I could listen to it all day!

For your consideration:
Nissan Fairlady 2000 with a stock exhaust has a classic nostalgic rumble. You would never know such a car could sound so like Thor gargling hammers.

The VW 1200 with semi-racing is, if I'm right in saying, the exact same noise as the semi-racing exhaust on a Mach 1 Stang.

Mercedes SLS with a stock exhaust, makes me wonder why people actually put a racing one on and yes I know it's for speed but to sacrifice a sound like that, insanity!

Lexus IS200 with sports I believe, a sound from The Fast and The Furious along with the R32/3 with semi racing exhausts and the R34 with sports.

For me the V12 Vantage is pretty awesome. From a stand still take of in 2nd gear and just listening to it burble as it builds the revs:drool:

YES! The top end definitely does not sound as good as the mid range. I love driving about slowly in London in 2nd gear :D

Fully upgrade the Isuzu 117 Coupe, it made my jaw hit the floor. I still think it's at least top 5 if not the absolute best sounding car for me.

You will thank me...

FWIW, a GOOD sounding car doesn't necessarily mean that it's a REALISTIC sounding car. A Honda Civic that sounds like a Lexus LFA may be a good sound, but it isn't a realistic one.

I've yet to find a car in GT5 that sounds within 90% of the real thing.

Whilst I agree that good ≠ accurate (necessarily at least; for some people, accurate may well be the definition of "good") I suspect you're exaggerating with your last statement. Perhaps you've only driven a handful of cars? And what of the attempt to assign a quantitative "rating" to something which can only ever be "measured" qualitatively?

Many of the stock cars sound close to real, at least if you consider the exhaust alone, since there is no intake sound in the game. The problem, as usual, comes when you start swapping parts over.
