What tires do you use?

I was just wondering what tires do you all use for your OWN cars, and what type of car do you use them on.

I have a 91 Talon TSi AWD, and I use Dunlop FM-901's in the summer. They are P205/55R16. This is factory size because its all wheel drive so a wider contact patch isnt really neccessary, and weight is important to me because the car is raced, and I dont want to be "ricey". In the winter (now) I use P205/55R16 Bridgestone Blizzack LM-22's. They are an incredible high performance snow tire that are alot of fun on the snow covered back roads for you rally enthusiasts like me.

The 'lude wears the ****ty OEM tires during the summer, right now it's on Blizzaks. Seems like they're the winter tire of choice.

The currently deceased CRX usually runs with BFG Drag Radials at the front, and Toyo RA1s at the rear, all in 15 inches.

crappy daytona 225/50/ZR16's on my Z. I really need new tires just because these just aren't pretty enough. can't decide between potenzas and toyo proxes....

For street use, the M3 sedan wears Kumho Escta MXs in factory stock 225/45-17 front, 245/40-17 rear. Astounding street tire for the money, very good tire at any price.

For Solo II, it wore Victoracer V700 DOT legal R-comp tires. 225/45-17 front, 255/40-17 rear. But right now, the car is not being raced :(

Our Focus has the OEM Goodyears on the rear, and some garbage on the front. It's what it came with.

Fortunately, I reckon the fronts will be shagged in about 6k, and I'll replace them with Pirelli P6000s.

I'm running Proxes on my Yukon/Xl.

I know it's not really the same as a car, but I swear by them for my SUV's.

I popped one after running over a screw though after only having it for about a month and a half.:irked:

It was a choice of Pirelli Scorpions or the Toyo's and I liked the Toyo's best.

The Neons are shod with Dunlop D60A2 in 205/60/14, but that's been discontinued. Decent budget tire, cetainly better than the OEM Goodyear crapola they had. The big Caravan's rolling on Michelin MXs in 17", baby.

My 323 runs 8 year old or so Bridgestone Terranzas on the back(to be replaced soon), and 3 or so year old Terranzas on the front. They are great tires. Even though the backs are pretty dry-rotted and balding, they really hold the road, I've never had the back slide out on the car, even in the rain. The fronts have like 80% tread left, and grip really well. They are starting to dry-rot, which seems to be normal around here. We're gonna get a new pair of Terranzas to put on the front, and put the current fronts on the back. But as it is right now, the Terranzas are just excellent in all conditions. Even with the way I drive(hard cornering mainly), the tires look exactly the same as when I started driving the car. And they have a great skid sound. :)
My dad's '86 RX-7 and his '93 Probe GT both run Bridgestone Potenzas(I believe that the RX has the RE910 model, don't know about the Probe).
Our '92 MPV uses Terranzas too.
My bro's cars, he changes tires so often I don't know what he has. At 1 time he had Nitto 450s(or whatever) on his '88 MX-6 GT, but now I don't know.
The worst tires in recent time on one of our cars were on my bro's '87 626. When he got the car from my uncle, it had these oversized Sears Hercules tires. The sidewalls were like 5 inches tall, and any kind of cornering made the tires deflect a heck of a lot. They couldn't grip a whole lot, and they would always make this high pitch squeal just under normal cornering. And in the rain you were screwed. :)

Right now, my Accord is on all season BFGoodrich tires. For the summer and spring it sits on 225/40/18 Falken FK-451's. I've heard that the Azenis is the better Falken tire, but oh well.

v700 victoracers 225/50-15 for track.

some ****ty 17 inch yokohama and bridgestones on the throwing stars. I plan on replacing with g-force KDs this spring. Ive run these on the stock rims before the v700s, very grippy. the azeni and ecsta mx are almost as good, for half the price, but with j-stock suspension, 245/225 KDs would just be too badass. Kds are wonderful.

Last summer/winter I used an all season Toyo FZ4, they were a great tire right off when the tread depth was good, once they got some wear on them, they dropped in performance a great deal. They only lasted a year since the treadwear was 300. They were great in the rain for the first half, but then started to hydroplane over 100mph. I once had some Dunlop Sport 8000's, which I was very impressed with, they had great straight line traction, this was when I had my FWD TSi, so I decided this time around to get the Dunlop FM-901's which were Dunlops new high performance tire. I highly recommend them for any car. In the rain they are incredible, you drive as if the water isnt there, you will search far and wide over any road for their breaking point, it is really hard to get them to let go, and they look pretty damn sweet too! They are summer only so I was forced to get some Blizzacks... Boo hoo (sarcastic) I love em to death:D

Goodyear Eagle LS P235/R16, by far the worse tire in the world for anything....well ok they smoke really good.

How about some of crappy tires you guys have had on your car(s)?

I made the mistake of putting a set of Pirelli P7000 SuperSports on the old '95 M3. I thought maybe I was buying a set of budget P-Zeros ---boy was I wrong. They were pretty good for the first 5-6k miles, then they turned to pure manure. They were noisy, rode hard, squeeled like a greased pig under even moderate cornering... I couldn't wait to get them off my car.. I can't believe they were compared to the Michey Pilot SX GT and Yoko AVS Sport.

Excellent topic! It finally got me searching for competition tires!

I have two set of wheels. Both are currently wrapped with 205/55/16 Potenza RE92s. The WRX wheels (16 x 6.5) I have will be for the street, when the tires are worn, I'll throw on the other RE92s, then different one after those. The 2.5RS wheels will be competition wheels, and after some research, looks like I'll use some Yokohama AO32Rs.

love your name....hehehe
I do believe that toyo proxes have won my heart in the performance tire arena. I saw them on a 911 turbo(98) tonight, OMG they looked soooo nice. now to decide what wheels they will be gracing....stock....or 18's......

Falken 225/45ZR17 all around. This car sucks when it rains gets all tail swing happy. my dad told me he almost lost control on a 40 mph street it was raining pretty hard though.

Send us a picture of the car with a handwritten sign saying "GTPlanet" in it, and we might think about believing you.

My family has all cars serviced by the local Volvo dealership, they usually install P6000s.
