I'll add that I watched a bit of anime when I was a kid, but I didn't think of it as anime. I just thought of it as really cool cartoons! Heck, I didn't even know those shows where Japanese back then! Here in the states as a kid, we had this thing on Cartoon Network called Toonami. That block of shows usually came on when I got home from school. I would always watch Dragon Ball Z, Zoids, and Gundam.
