Who here doesn't like the camera angles in GT4 and GT5??

Moreover, I want the turn right or left function (pressing L2 and R2, or the buttons on the G27 wheel) slower. In GT5P, press the button and the view turn very quickly to left or right. I think it's too fast for me and could the speed of turning be adjusted by the player? It's not difficult to implement in GT5?

I complained so many times already about this ridiculous chase view but now I see it in the latest videos again..

Perhaps the japanese like it like this.. but I dont...

Also I cant believe Kazunori aims for a "perfect" game and overlooks this simple detail.

This view makes me feel like driving one of the first racing games in computer-gaming history ever.. (1987)

Umm.. Yeah maybe Kaz does aim for a perfect game.. He isn't overlooking it, In his opinion, he probably likes the camera. Yes, maybe they should add in another chase cam (Static/dynamic)-. but its not overlooking details.

[*note, however, I do agree that the chase cam is horrible]

Just because its been there for a while doesnt mean i have gotten used to it.

Fact is that its like you said, the car is moving the camera which just isn't how it is in real life. and Fact is that it makes it harder to play the game.

imagine driving your car in real life and your head was locked in the direction of the car. Yeh would suck right? and not realistic.

I need to be seeing the direction the car is going, if it starts sliding id be looking forward the direction im going not the way the car is facing.

im sorry but fact is that gt4 and gt5's locked rear camera is crap and really should be changed back or at least given the option to put it back.

it takes a sense of realism out of the game it doesnt help being locked at all.

True they should give an option for it, but realistically speaking you can't drive you car from 10ft behind it, first person view is realistic for driving. Don't get me wrong I used to use that view in GT3 for drifting and it was jarring as hell transitioning in GT4, but it forced me to use nose cam though.

Yep GT2 and GT3 were the best.

and the fact that its forcing people to go to other views such as bumper cam and interior view is proof that its just not right.

Needs to be changed back.

And interior view is awesome too but i mostly use chase cam so really want it changed back!! forzas chase cam is perfect!!!
 
I prefer using the bumper cam the most because it keeps me concentrated to run the track without going off throughout a race or time trial, I often feel it's very useful when I come in every corner and turn :)

I would like a view that is unlock in another way. Player can adjust the width of the area inside the car so that player can see whatever they like, such as, all or half mirror, all windscreen, or windscreen with two side windows. If player can adjust in their own way by zooming and moving the screen left or right, it will be very good and satisfy all player using cockpit view.

Exactly. If the camera "lens" and physical positioning is adjustable inside the cockpit, that would seriously make me re-consider using it. As it stands, I am more confortable with hood cam.
 
Funnily enough, if I was racing on-line in an important race, I would probably want fixed. But if I was showing off the game to a friend.......I would never pick fixed because it looks very stiff and basic.

I miss the loose cam too, an option in the menu to change the stiffness of the external cam might be the way to go. I would also love to be able to change how close the internal view is, as I might use it over bumper cam if I could get quite close to the wind-shield.

I guess more viewing options = better, at the end of the day.
 
All these opinions indicate that GT5 should be the first console racer to have adjustable views. You should be able to go into the options and edit the different views to your liking. Or even disable them if you never use them. Personally, I thought the roof view from GT4 was perfect for me. Center of gravity, a very good view of the road and some "peripheral" vision, locked to the car so it gave you a solid sense of how the car was performing in turns. And this view is in Prologue replays.

GT5 should make the driver view customizable, so we're all happy.

Now I like the idea of completely disabling viws that you never use to speed up the cycling process. For me, I'd only ever want hood, bumper, and cockpit.
 
Anyone plays with the external view + wheel?

I always use the cockpit view but Kaz did change the ext. view mainly because the players had troubles driving in the GT4 demos with a wheel.

My thoughts are that the fixed ext. view is much better for wheel users but pad works better than a wheel for a dynamic ext. view.

That sounds a good idea, maybe I'll use only bumper, roof?(I forgot the name, that we can see the whole cars including opposing ones when we control our car) and interior view. It's good to have a good view when we race or do a TT :)

Glad to have someone agree with me. Customized view is the way to go for GT series, especially for catering for the needs of different people. I found, when playing GT5 Prologue online, it's difficult to sense or see cars beside my cars, unlike racing or driving in reality. So, improvement in this area will bring a large degree of enhancement in online racing experience. That's just what I feel. What do you think, buddies?

I find the fixed camera in cockpit view extremely restrictive, and while head tracking might help, this is a huge unknown at the moment (as in, it may not even make it, let alone enhance the experience). I'm no 3D modeling expert, but surely if they have everything modeled properly, it shouldn't be too hard to allow the camera to be moved withing certain limits?
 
I never had issues with the cockpit view... It would be nice if you could move your head around though, like pretty much every other racing game. I'm guessing it's something they plan to implement, since in the same build the speedometer wasn't working properly. Speaking of, they need to let people disable the HUD entirely. I hate chase cam and HUDs, it feels like I'm controlling a toy car
 
This would be awesome if GT5 had fully adjustable views and the ability to choose which ones you can switch to.

would make GT5 the perfect game imo

So far, every game I played with the option to move the view inside the cockpit had clipping errors (that you can see through the arms or something like that). Imagine the flamewars and complains some people would start if that happens. :lol:

lol yeh, interior views not are issue though! its sweet! its the chase cam thats the issue!!!!

and i doubt PD would let clipping issues happen if they did have adjustable interior views ther all about the quality :)

Oh man, it would be a nightmare! :lol: It's bad enough reading peoples complaints at how bad the physics are purely based on Mimaximax's new video of the Enzo that he is driving terribly!

Thankfully, I find the cockpit view too restricting, and also far too dark. Hood cam FTW :)

If they allow the car to turn before the camera does, we might not be able to see where the wheels are at certain moments. ( altho the inside should always be visible ). On the other hand it does look very weird and static while racing, never use it. I vote for a top view :)

I agree that it is a good view for seeing how clean your lap is, however its not best for racing imo and all my mates agree with me.

Have you ever played Forza Motorsport? or Gran Turismo 3?

The way the camera moves in those games are perfect and is exactly what im asking for :)

the more view options the better :)

Yep, the chase camo is the best to check whether our lap is clean or not, it looks like the car we control doesn't move much from the middle of the screen.
 
Yeah i'm one of those fingers as well. I've always preferred using the chase camera because you get to see the car that your driving. But I change to the roof cam if i'm using the Ferrar F1 2007 in Prologue because then it's like the onboard cameras from formula one.

Cool, so which motor sporting event has the camera mounted 15 feet high and 15 feet back from the car?! ;)
 
Haha if only there was, I don''t know why I have always used it. I guess because when i was a really bad driver I found it hard to judge where the apexes were compared to the car (this is using the bumper camera). And now I just seem to be about half a second faster using the chasing camera. But I always find it fun to switch to cockpit view when I just want to enjoy racing.

^^ Yeah, jalopnik puts out some useful stuff sometimes, like when they taught how to escape from a sinking car, or how to jump from a rolling vehicle. :dopey:

Driving a real car from a chase perspective is impossible, you don't have sense of depth, speed or and even braking distances must feel anward, since you have to take the overall length of the car to determine when to brake and when to turn in, and honestly, I can't do it.

Yeah, I've seen sinking car stuff done by Mythbusters, very cool.

As for the problems you mentioned when driving a real car from chase perspective, that's exactly how I feel when I try that in-game. It just feels completely alien, but I know lots of people stick with it just so they can see they car they are driving, and I'm sure some people prefer it too. Not me!
