i use x-port for hybriding and yea it's pretty much the same as sharkport..the only thing thats different about it is the way it look and how it cn be taken apart

How long is the cord? And do I have to be able to see whats going on, on the TV screen or can I just boot it up with the cd and wait a little then take the files off my card(any menus I have to go through)?

you can just get the ps2 and the power cord for it and plug it in the wall,then plug the xport usb from the ps2 to your pc...you can do it with out using your tv,but you have to now when to start the transferring...but i recommend using the tv first for first timer and have fun hybriding!!
