This one^^. It is called 240sx 96'. 240sx means it was sold in North America, so it does not have the SR20DET. But why does it have the SR20DET in the game? And why is it 1996? S13 production stopped production in '94.

ALSO. Its name says 240sx, but why does it look different than a regular 240sx??? The bumper looks different and the sideskirts look different. The wheels look different too.And it has a wing.... I thought they didn't come with a wing stock??

One more thing... I didn't want to make a new thread for this. What track is this?

I found this pic from here http://community.us.playstation.com/thread/205909?start=555&tstart=0 and don't think i've ever seen that track before

Isn't that the GT4 track.
The little Italian town.

Can't remember the name.
Really fun track to drive.

Edit:
Found it. in the GT4 forum.
I think it's the corner on the far left

Its suppose to be an American version of the 180sx from Japan as the 200sx of that model is suppose to be the model from Europe.

I'm not into the JDM thing, but I am a car enthusiast and know more than the basics. THis car always made me wonder. This car's specs actually correspond more to the JDM 180SX wich was produced until 1998. I don't know if they mixed the names or what, but I was surprised when they renamed it 240SX when it's been 180SX in previous Gran Turismos. Maybe PD was lazy to model the US Spec 240SX and only switched the driver side of the 180SX and renamed it. Both cars are basically the same except from minor differences in the body kit.

So until a true JDM connoisseur corrects me, then this IS in fact a Nissan 180SX with an incorrect badge and steering wheel possition.

Oh, and the track... Yep, it's cita di aria. The hairpin right after the turn with the arch.

I believe it was sold in New Zeland as the 240SX with the SR20DET, but don't quote me on that as I'm not 100% sure.

The reason why it is a SR20 powered 240sx is because PD simply took their Silvia model (or the 180sx in this case) changed the name, the driver side and the logos on the back of the car.

Heck, even the years are wrong, the S13 240sx wasn't produced after 1994 and the 240sx S14 facelift was only available in the US in 1997.

Yes, I know that:)

Shame on PD for being so lazy:tdown:

Can somebody explain the difference in exterior appearance though? What model is it?

its the type x aero package. normal 180sx came in "pignose"

then second facelift came out

then 3rd
typex180front.jpg

its just really an aero package that imo looks the best, nothing else is really done to the engine but the pignose had a ca18det engine but after that they went to the sr20det

I owned a 89 240sx, I always said that this was stupid, I would have loved it if they added my ka24e and DE versions instead of all the silvias having SR20DET engines.
The only sr20 I know is the one my brother in law put in my 240sx after I sold him my shell caused I seized my ka24E
:(

Because PD didn't care. See: 2/3rds of the Miatas in the game, almost all of the Lexus models and most of the 3000GTs.

Wow, it appears I wasn't wrong then.

Btw, I just bought one of these "fake" 180SX from the UCD because of this thread... I'm waiting to see if the JDM spec 180sx Type X Aero shows up.

Man, this whole Silvia, 180sx, sileighty, 240sx is sure confusing...

JDMeddie

WAIT, WAIT, WAIT... Now I'm even more confused. That 200sx that you mention looks nothing like a Silvia based car where I live at. Is not even a RWD car. This is what a 200sx looks like over here where I live:

There are some of these that were badged as Nissan 200SX SE-R and others as Nissan Lucino, although in escence they were nothing but a 2 door B14 Sentra with a SR20DE engine, 4 wheel disc brakes, leather seats, defferent stop lights and front bumper/grill, plus all the goodies that you could not get in a plain Sentra B14.

Our (AU/NZ/EU) 200SX's were Silvia's, thankfully.

I always confused the Silvias, 180SXs, 240SXs, S13s, Sleighties etc. and this thread ain't helping :{
I did too until recently. But it's actually quite simple.
From wiki. :sly:

Silvia - The first S13 based production car. Different body with no liftgate.
240SX - North American version of the 180SX. Left hand drive with a 2.4 L NA engine.
Sileighty - A 180SX with S13 Silvia front end.
200SX - Name given to the 180SX in Europe and North America. This name was also given to the S14 and S15 series Silvia on the Australian market.
This could also be useful.

Thats quite helpful!👍

But lets add that there is a non S Plataform car named 200SX, which is the 2 door B14 sports oriented Sentra, known as Lucino in Japan which I mentioned a couple of posts above.

We had "Silvias", but they were the same US 240sx... Our 200SX like I posted above, were Sentras...

Yeah but they're KA24E/KA24DE powered and not SR20DET powered like ours. AU models atleast besides a few small localisation changes are rebadge jobs. Infact the S15 200sx still has Silvia written in the headlight.

It wasn't only available in 97 but 98 as well and the S14 U.S. 240sx was given to different face lifts for that body. The first came in 95 after the S13 was no more and that was the Zenki, and the second face lift the 97 one was called the Kouki.

Just a bit more information - the sil80 was never actually sold by nissan themselves, they where made by a company called kids hearts for a limited run of about 500.
The 180sx isn't called the 200sx in Europe, it's called the 180sx hence the 1.8.
There is also an other variation called the onevia (1+silvia=onevia)

If you have more questions just ask. :)
