After participating in multiple clubs and laid-back race series, I decided to start one of my own, and this is it...

THE WORLD WAGON CHAMPIONSHIP
CLUB ID 1059865
FRIDAYS 17:30 EST/22:30 BST

The Rules

This series will be composed of 26 individual races held two per night with the exception of Round 13 and Round 26. Basically, since there's 13 cars, you are allowed to use each one twice over the course of this series, at any time. IE you can use the Legnum for Round 1 and 26 if you so desire, or you can use it in Round 5 and 6 if you find it suits a certain track and you want to get it out of the way. This will add an element of strategy and will force everyone to use all of the wagons rather than just the one they are most comfortable with. Don't worry if this sounds complex, I'll keep track of who has used what and make sure no one slips up.

All wagons will be tuned to 500pp on Sports Soft Tires, with all settings allowed except for wings and body kits. Anybody entering with wings will be asked to remove them. This will mean some cars will be faster than others but that just adds another element to the car choice process.

The first race each night will have qualifying, and will be 15 minutes long with normal wear, and the second will start in the finishing order of the first race, and will be 20 minutes long with fast wear.

The Points system will be as follows:
1st - 32 Points
2nd - 28 Points
3rd - 25 Points
4th - 22 Points
5th - 19 Points
6th - 16 Points
7th - 14 Points
8th - 12 Points
9th - 10 Points
10th - 8 Points
11th - 6 Points
12th - 5 Points
13th - 4 Points
14th - 3 Points
15th - 2 Points
16th - 1 Point

Your four lowest scoring individual races will be deducted from your total at the end of the series.

Room Settings: 4 stars, voice chat disabled, club members only (excepting practice lobbies) real grip reduction, light damage, real slipstream, weak penalty, grid start with false start, qualifying alone, driving line and ABS enabled

Etiquette
I'm not going to direct anyone to OLR guidelines or anything. Basically just race clean/how you would anywhere else, give people room, don't divebomb, be patient, it's just for fun, etc etc. I'm sure I don't need to tell anyone that.

ALWAYS CLEAR YOUR CACHE BEFORE YOU ENTER OR RE-ENTER THE ROOM. ALWAYS.

Saturday afternoon would be the best for me, but I might be able to join on other dates as well.

Would the Impreza wagons be available?

I'd like it to be 4 cars for now so we could switch every 3-4 races like we do in sick's series, and everyone gets to try each of them

OR we could just do it completely open to any AWD wagon and I could try to come up with regs to make them all somewhat even. I'd like to have success ballast involved somehow also.

Good idea. These are excellent Q cars.
I'm good for Fridays rather than the weekend but I'll always be a reserve as I can never guarantee I'll definitely be available for every race.

Looking forward to more specs.

Sounds great, i only raced the Impreza '99 Wagon so far, but a series around these sounds nice. 👍 I'm maxed out with GT6 racing though, as far as the Wisest Infallible Fabulous Entity allows, so any date would be a stretch for me. I see if i can make it to some races.

So basically there are 13 AWD wagons in the game, and since both stageas are the same except for the body kit, and there's 2 2.0 litre Legacy wagons with the same body kit difference, we can narrow that down to 11. (Yes, we could include the Mitsubishi Airtrek to make it interesting, and maybe even the Honda Odyssey)

So what I have in mind if we open it up to all of them is a 22 race series, 2 20 minute races or thereabout per night/day/whatever except maybe for one or two endurance-style races. You can/have to use every wagon twice, doesn't have to be consecutively or anything, just twice and only twice over the course of the season. Thus that makes it more interesting and even.

Thanks for the invite. I'm always up for something a bit different.

It can be a bit hit or miss but Fridays are probably best for me. Saturdays are not too bad, however that is also occasionally Reefer racing time. Heck Sunday is possibly doable. So I'll go with the flow.

It'll be interesting to see how you develop it.
(Don't make it too complicated)

Wisest Infallible Fabulous Entity
 One for a 4 letter word game. ;)

I'd be interested in joining this blue, but it's all down to the time - 12 midday UK time would be best for me. What pp are you thinking of?

Just bought my first AWD wagon there (Subaru Legacy Touring Wagon 2.0GT spec.B '03) and took it for a 5-min play to AH. Very easy to drive at 450pp and returned a time of 1:29.4 on ss which was a nice surprise as I thought it would have been slower.

It'll most likely be 500pp or thereabouts, probably on SS tires

If everyone will have to use all the cars twice, how about racing the cars stock? It would be a bit like shuffle racing that way, and if some cars are better than others it gives everyone a chance to have 15 minutes of fame

And if you can pick in which event you'll drive which car, that would in turn become a bit of a game within the game - determining which car would be the best for which event... and it involves guessing what the other players will use and what cars they've got left... it would be a bit like a card game, but with cars :dopey:

That would be the plan, except probably not stock since they aren't close enough performance wise I don't think. I'll test them all this weekend though stock and tuned and see how they stack up. I'm mostly trying to get the day and time figured out currently.

It seems like Friday 10:30pm UK/5:30 my time (I get off work at 5 and it takes me 10 minutes to get home) or Saturday 12-1pm UK/7-8am my time are the best options? It would be two 20 minute races so the aim would be to get it over within an hour and a half allowing for the inevitable network problems.

So I just tested all of the wagons plus the Airtrek at Trial Mountain Reverse stock, and they all were between the mid 1:43s and the low 1:40s. The system I came up with is this.

Airtrek, Legnum, Legacy 3.0, Stagea 260RS, Lexus IS: SS TIRES (all unrestricted)

Caldina, Legacy '96, Legacy Spec B, Audi RS6 '02: SM TIRES (all unrestricted)

Both Imprezas restricted to 440pp, RS6 restricted to 490pp, RS4 unrestricted: SH TIRES

If I left the Imprezas unrestricted they easily ran 1:39s, not even taking into account the fact you can adjust their differentials somehow even with tuning disallowed, which could make them much faster. The 08 RS6 has almost 600hp stock, and even at 490pp it still has 449, so it's definitely a big bruiser. It turns a bit better than its Audi brethren, but not much. It could easily get into the 38s and maybe the 37s if I left it unrestricted.

I was doing just 2 laps at a time with everything so I couldn't get too used to each vehicle, and each of them had oil changed and rigidity improved, and brake bias unchanged at 5/5 (which I would never use normally, I like a rear bias).

So if we left everything unrestricted, the cars would be 5-6 seconds per lap apart (at trial mountain), which wouldn't necessarily make for interesting races, but it would make for interesting strategy, choosing which cars to use when.

Or if we use the restrictions I just made up, everything is a bit closer. The Imprezas will always be faster since that differential adjustability makes a massive difference.

And of course, if everyone would rather tune than race stock, we can do that too. 500pp on SS is a lot simpler.

If there is a season 2 of the wagon championship, it'll be the opposite of this, IE if we do stock this time we'll do tuning in the hypothetical "next time"....

What is a Q car Suts?

What is a Q car Suts?
I always assumed it meant a type of sleeper car. Looks like a family car for kids and shopping but has amazing underlying performance and ability to humble other more sporty or expensive cars. I think it's a very British term and comes from use of Q-boats from WWII I think?

That's basically what I meant. An Audi RS or merc amg is a bit like this. If you're not a car fanatic you don't see the underlying potential!

They're just sleepers here. The Ford Flex ecoboost is my favourite sleeper currently on the market. Two tone paint job, 3 rows of seats, all wheel drive, and a 360hp twin turbo v6, what more do you need?

First post updated. I'll be around to open a practice/test lobby next Friday night. I'm going to a show on March 4th so won't be around to host but obviously anyone who wants to can practice anytime, and hopefully the plan would be to start the series the friday after that on the 11th.

^ Do I get bonus points for being the first to join? :P

I thought I was up late Jocke but at 4:21 you beat me!
Yeah granny's doing worse so I haven't gotten much sleep. That was actually 5:21 but because I'm logged in with a U.K. account it doesn't recognise my time zone. Who needs sleep anyway. ;)

Don't think I'm gonna manage the Saturday 7:30am morning slot (in Japan) you're running at, so have a good one guys:tup:
