Live in Japan?
Love cars?
Got some spare cash?
Got a bit of spare time every Sunday afternoon?

If you answered yes to all of the above then why not buy a supercar, modify it and join this club?

This is jaw-dropping stuff. If you want more links then I'll send some. (Images are quite slow to download).

Enjoy!

If you were Japanese and money was no object would you really have a GT-R over a Ferrari?

I'm not sure about me, but I know quite a bit of people that would rather have the GT-R. Anyway, thats not really all that relevant, because its not like everybody there has all the money in the world. The question is what car you have, not how much money.

Yes, you're right, but the people who have these cars don't buy them for 1/4 mile racing, they're track cars and icons of motoring history. And whose to say that a couple of these people don't have 1500PS GT-Rs, if you've got the funds and are enthusiastic about the different aspects of driving then why not have both.

Hypothetically, if I enjoy taking my Toyota 2000GT to a concours event, then does that mean that I have no interest in taking my 800PS GT-R for a blast down a 1/4 mile strip?

Enjoying cars and driving isn't only about trying to squeeze as much horsepwer out of an engine, and seeing how fast you can go in a straight line, is it?

Only if you're American.

I can see your point. But, I'm not sure I agree. If all of your friends owned GT-Rs (and they might) would you get bored of them 'real fast'? Maybe.

Anyway, those car are Supercars, maybe it's a supercar club, not a performance club full of NSX's and Supra's and Skylines...

You're right, Cobraboy, it IS a (predominantly European) supercar club.

which is exactly what a skyline is....it was designed and built for the track...it did so good that it got kicked out of Group A racing for being "too good"

the skylines hold some of the fastest production car times on the nurburgring track in germany which is notoriously difficult and made to test the limits of any car. Infact when the R32 GT-R was being developed it set a lap record shattering the previous one by 25 seconds...do you know how big a difference 25 seconds is on a track? to add to that the skyline was undefeated in group N racing for 3 years and won 29 races in a row....i don't see stats like that from any ferrari...

so in no way is the skyline just a 1/4 mile car...just because it does exceptionally well in that area doesn't mean thats what it was designed for....the 1360 HP one was built for top speed.

I think we're getting out wires crossed here.

I'm 100% with you about the GT-R. My favourite car of all time is the BNR32 in Gunmetal Grey, I couldn't think of a car I'd rather live with. And you're right about the Skyline being one of the most phenomenol track cars of all time, in it's day it was unbeatable in Japanese and Australian racing and I'm sure it would have cleaned up in Europe and the US too.

Every time I see a GT-R on the street I get excited, even though, where I live, they're ten-a-penny.

The Japanese car club link that I posted is almost exclusively composed of European supercars. But, I think that they just take photos of different and interesting cars that turn up on the day. Hence the photo of the NS-X. If you look in the other galleries you'll find some GT-Rs to and even a VW Golf Clipper.

I just got confused when you mentioned the 1000+ PS GT-R on road tyres. I just thought you were missing the point, but you're obviously very well informed. No offence meant:)

Long live the GT-R!!!

:odd: how many skylines even enter? like 1 or 2? compared to the 1000000 ferraris and porsches.....and anyway thats an endurance race.....track car doesnt always mean it will be good at running for 24 hrs..

No, it's just that before you go bashing the Ferrari, I'd just show some evidence that the Skyline hasn't won something that Ferrari has, just like you did.

bah I'd take the calsonic skyline and beat the crap out of all those cars  but yeah I never said the skyline was the perfect car...there is no perfect car....no car can win at everything...some just do better than others...

That's your opinion and your entitled to it. But, I think I speak for the majority of GTplanet members when I say, please engage your brain before you criticise a post containing pictures that someone has taken the time to look for and post in this forum.

*cough* Formula 1, Le Mans *cough*

Uhh...what about Ferrari not winning that much?

Oh yeah, the R33 GTR set the new record at Nuburgring Nordschliefe, not the R32...;)
Plus that was back in, let's see, 1993-1994? Before the McLaren F1, Ferrari F50, etc...:p

I like that site.

no no no I was talking about the R32 and I'm right....LATER the R33 beat it....then the R34....etc....but the instance I was talking about involved the R32

oh yeah and the key word was PRODUCTION car ;) a McLaren and ferrari F50 are NOT mass produced production cars

and I never said ferrari doesn't win that much....I merely said I haven seen any running 8's...
