Xbox achievement list:

Couple of mentions of things I haven't read about yet, firstly the "realistic duration mode". And secondly judging by one kf the achievements, it looks like we'll be able to cross mount tyres at last.

Realistic duration mode, sounds interesting, does this mean longer stages, surely not ? Perhaps more stages per day ?

More stages per day would make the most sense. Given that WRC9/8 had a max of 6 stages per rally in career mode, and real life can have upwards of 12, I hope its that. Especially as some countries in WRC9 had 10-12 stages.

Yes I'd be up for more stages per day/rally.

Especially as they have a larger selection of stages now, as you pointed out.

I've definitely said this before on here somewhere, but the difference between 8 and 9 is like night and day. 9 was such a step forward for the series, and easily equals DR2 for me. It's also worth noting that WRC's tarmac physics are light years ahead of DR2, and WRC 10 has 7 tarmac locations...
It depends what you are looking for.
DR2 is atm a lot better than WRC.
Beside the driving which everyone has discussed for years.
There are also technical points in which DR2 is better. Most important is the VR support also better support for devices (wheel, handbrake, ...).
In game e.g. FoV settings incl. correct seat movement options and the good modeled cockpits. Im really liking the classic cars and the sound.

Multiplayer in DR2 is really active with a lot of daily, weekly, monthly events and a lot of clubs also with weekly and monthly events.

I wouldn't say it's a lot better. They probably on a par if anything. WRC has the stages, the career mode, superior tarmac physics, better weather effects. DR2 probably on a par with the gravel physics, has the car list, better online events, and overall better graphics presentation.

WRC9 edges it on next gen though, overall smoother presentation and visuals really Mke a difference there. Codemasters have it all to do when they take over the license because Kylotonn in my opion are setting a very high bar for the WRC license.

So what's it take to be fast at this game?
As with either semi-sim rally game today (WRCs or the DiRT Rallies), and in Richard Burns Rally too (the best and only sim to date), I believe the #1 factor to be concentration. Rally is an intense sport, and whether you are "simming" in RBR, or "simcading" in WRC or DR, you must be mentally strong and focused for 3 to 12 minutes, depending on the stage. Rally is a different beast compared to road racing, and if you approach these as "games" you will have a tough run through them.

In spite of my criticisms of DR and WRC, and my praise of RBR, the basics of success across all three are similar: know your limits, know your car, keep focused. All of these "games" provide a decent recreation of what rally is. And that means a balance of maximum concentration while constantly testing the limits of grip on treacherous narrow roads.

If you are a wheel user, it also helps to have your your FFB dialed in, since DR is lacking in FFB, WRC tends to have bad default FFB settings, and RBR, well, also needs tweaking since it's a 20 year old game.

Check out the news post folks.

Car list has been revealed including the 21 (!) Legends cars from 1972 to 2019. 👍

Now that's an impressive car list!

Let's hope they make good use of the Legends cars in the game. Cannot see them being available for career mode (would be illogical) . But it would be good if they're available outside of their dedicated event (which will probably be one race or one rally), in e.g. free play where you can race them on any of the rally courses.

So far, colour me impressed.

I'm really hoping that the historic and bonus cars can be used in Season mode, or at least in some kind of custom events or championships. It was really frustrating that the cars outside of WRC/2/3/Jnr weren't able to be used outside of quick stage or online, especially as some of them like the R-GT and R5 cars are eligible in the real events.
Also wondering about the lack of Fiesta Rally3, I know the category isn't fully implemented yet but the cars are already being used in FIA events (such as in Kenya) and the car was used in WRC 9 for Rally Star. Hoping it will be among the update additions.

Does anyone know if the historical events are full rallies? I'd be gutted if they turned out to be just one stage each.

I don't remember when and where but I read that Kylotonn aim to have all WRC winning cars before lost rights to Codemasters.

Looking to the car list I miss:

Abarth 131 (Markku Alen & Walter Röhrl)
Escort RS1800 (Björn Waldegard & Ari Vatanen)
Opel Ascona (Walter Röhrl)
206 WRC (Marcus Grönholm)
Impreza WRC (Richard Burns & Petter Solberg)
C4 WRC (Sébastien Loeb)

If they add some DLC probably will be any of that.

Also they can add the new i20N Rally2 that recently debuted.
Abarth 124 R-GT and Alpine A110 R-GT at bonus cars to compete against the Porsche on asphalt rallies it would be awesome.

If it follows WRC9 then there won't be a season mode for the classics but they will be usable in free play and come up in the weekly events. The season mode in WRC9 is career mode without the management stuff so I can't see that being any different for 10.

Hopefully they surprise us with a custom championship mode or something.

The ascona is in dirt4 im pretty sure, just got it and it seems a pretty nice sim style game to me, if set all for it, for all the negative around it, you can tweek the setups and feel it well to make it more to your liking. The external sounds are insane too hehe, i love good engine/exhaust sounds. Especially when you turn the cam to the front looking back, hearing the engine bay is awesome. Anyhow, just meant to say about the car, as i noticed some cars are different as well from dr1, dirt4 and dr2, like the old quattros.
I digress.. 👅
Edit: i mean different versions of cars.

I'm waiting for the first influencer videos ... in a few days the game comes out on steam but absolutely no information.

What's about:
  • FoV settings - seat movement
  • wide screen support 21:9 / 32:9
  • multi input peripheral support (wheel, pedals, handbrake)
  • meaningful ffb settings
  • physics thread bound to a multiple of 60 fps?

I played the demo a few months back and can say for sure it has ultrawide resolution support and plenty of FoV adjustment to get the in car view where you want it. I don't remember the specifics of the FFB settings and didn't try to attach peripherals separately. My pedals and shifter were connected through my wheelbase.

WRC 9 already has support that I can confirm for four from that list (the only one I'm not sure of is 21:9 / 32:9 widescreen support) it's unlikely that WRC 10 will remove them. Certainly, the WRC 10 demo supported those options.

European players are lucky, US players to my understanding have to wait until the 7th to get our physical copies at least.

Digital, too. 7 Sept. Only Deluxe gives an early unlock. I saw Amazon physical even for end of Sept! The WRC games always come out later in North America. This trend goes all the way back to the Evolution Studios WRC titles.

I am looking forward to this. As many here know I have played and have been closely following and reviewing the KT WRC titles since #6. PS4, PS4 Pro and PC. The steps forward have been monumental, but they still have a ways to go, just as they lose the license after #11. Since there is STILL no VR I will be getting 10 on PS5 instead of PC. Based on what I have seen with Wreckfest at 4k and 60fps on PS5 whereas on PC I could only pull off 1440p and unstable 60fps (albeit with good detail), I am eager to see how this title compares to PS5 Wreckfest and my WRC9 on PC. And I agree wholeheartedly with @cjr3559 comment today in the #9 thread: these KT WRC games @30fps on PS4 are brain-jarring.

Preordered the deluxe version today for the Series S. Next gen version weighs in at just under 33gb on the pre install.

I almost made the mistake of asking for this on PS4 for my birthday...when I now have a PC that will probably do it better! :dunce: Not being a surprise gift, it appears I'll have to claim the DLC for the Subaru on Steam a few weeks before my birthday. On the plus side, PC means I don't have to (and cannot) pre-order, so I'll have a window of time to read first thoughts here.

That's better. Pre-order-exclusive cars are scummy. The way things go in our genre, they know they've got people by the balls.

Pre-Order situation for PC is the same as for PS and XBOX. Link for Pre-Order on the publisher website: https://wrcthegame.com/

But after WRC 8 and WRC 9 (unfortunately I have both) and only played a few hours, I will wait this time until it's clear if the problems (micro stutter, physics and graphics thread not synced) are solved and if the cockpit view is implemented right with proper FoV settings, good modelled cockpits and exposure compensation.
