WTF? Napoleon Dynamite?

What is up with is movie? Has anyone seen it? Does it have a plot? I have yet to figure out what it is about from the previews... who knows what it is about?

I hated it the first time I saw it. I now love it and can't stop quoting it! Everyone at school quotes it all the time. Throwing in "Your Mom goes to college" during and akward silence always gets a good laugh.

I thought it was an very funny movie. It might be an love it or hate it type flick for most people. I rented it when it first came out on DVD, it must've been good, because I want to see it again. Jamiroquai thing at the end was great!

I watched this last night and it has a handful of really funny parts. The movie itself is quite stupid and you have to have certain personality to appreciate the comedy. I would say rent it but dont expect anything at all and you might appreciate some of the humor. Overall the uncle was my favorite character. That guy was hilarious!!
Here are some of my favorite parts of the movie: "Warning spoilers ahead"
1.On the bus first part of the movie. "Napolean what are you going to do today"? "Whatever I feel like GOOSHHHH!!!!"
2. When Napolean jumped the bike and smashed his testes.
3. "We dont need a babysitter, Kips like 32 or something"
4. The uncle threw the steak way out in the road right into Napoleans face on the bike.
5. The uncle saying "Back in the 80's I could throw a football a quarter mile" then right after that he said "I bet I could throw the football over those mountains"
6. The Time Machine!! Best part of the movie!!!

Obviously you've seen the movie.

For everyone else, this film is definitely an acquired taste. Those who like it love it, and those who dislike it hate it passionately.

On the one hand, it makes fun of being a nerd, and some people have taken offense to the fact that this movie makes light of being bullied. Echoes of Columbine fuel their argument.

But to these people I say relax, it's just a movie. And a damn funny one at that. Its magic stems from the fact that most of us either knew someone exactly like Napoleon Dynamite when we were in high school, or else we were that person. For once the nerd is the hero of his very own movie. Lucky!!

Here are some of MY favourite Dynamite Moments:

1. When he gets mashed into his locker by the bully and does that delayed kick. The scene in the preview for the movie is a different take of him being pushed into the locker, and it's not nearly as violent as the one in the actual movie. Looks like it really hurt.

2. When he asks for the button from Don and then whips it down the hall, then runs away.

3. When Pedro gets sick and goes home and cuts off all his hair, then has to wear the wig to school.

4. When Napoleon gets a job transferring chickens into new coops. "Six dollars...that's like a dollar an hour!"

5. When Napoleon tries to feed Tina and throws the food on the ground. "Tina, come get some ham!"

6. "When Kip tries to demonstrate the strength of the tupperware by driving over it in Uncle Rico's van and ends up crushing it. Then he simply says, "Darn it!" and drives away.

7. The whole karate class with that guy from The Drew Carrey Show. Also when Uncle Rico is trying to sell the guy's wife the breast enlargment stuff and the karate guy comes home and kicks his ass.

**8. There's also a deleted scene on the DVD where they're all playing Dodgeball Baseball and Napoleon gets into a skirmish with Don. "Yeah right, who here's the only one who knows the secret ninja moves from the government?"

In short, the movie's bloody brilliant.

Its a good movie. The plot is supposed to be Pedro beating Summer in the President election, but that doesn't happen for 53 minutes.

Its a funny movie, but it does NOT deserve the funniest movie every slogan or award.

After reading the comments here i decided to watch this movie.The first time i watched i was like,wtf.Nothing made sense,lol.The second time was a lot funnier.It's actually a very good movie,pathetic but still very good.

It gets funnier every time you watch it.I love how Kip spelled the name of his date.La Fawnduh,lol.

I didn't get the humor. I just ended up thinking, this is retarded. The guy is a freak of nature and the movie is sad.

I turned it off part-way through.

I saw the quesa-dilla seen and the whatever I feel like scene, and the ramp scene, and the karate scene.

Ok here's the deal with the napoleon movie.......i spent 10 years of my young life in Idaho (thats where potatoes come from and also where the movie is filmed).
So all I have to say is that this movie is real...I mean when i saw it i thought it was a documentary. this stuff really happens in real Idahoan lifes...so if you're wondering what idaho life is like ..... well think what ever California was doing 5-10 years ago thats what Idahoans are just now getting into.....


and I have since moved from Idaho to Oregon......thus trading in my numchuks for a prepaid copy of gt4...there is hope for the world after all.

I never heard of it till a friend introduced it to me because he thought I was an asian version of him in some ways.. It was funny and I did have a lot of the same things growing up that he had. Kinda got forced into being him for Halloween too...

It really seems like the more intelligent people are falling in love with the complicated humor found in Napoleon Dynamite. The people that dont seem as intelligent, dont seem to understand what is so funny about this movie.

Umm, okay. But how are you judging intelligence? Are you qualified to a) make the judgement on intelligence and b) form the hypothesis that dumb people don't like the movie?
