He said the PS3 probably is worth $599. It comes with many advanced features, including the ability to hook up to the Internet. It also comes with a Blu-Ray DVD player that allows the system to play high-definition DVD movies as well as games with superior graphics.

I guess the PS3 will win the Japan market with the browser:

Here is the reason:

Japan will never change.

Hook up to the internet?

Hmm, it looks like Sony included more than just computer parts in their new console.

but its still an excellent movie! I hadn't seen that one before

..Wassent the PS2 supposed to be able to connect to and surf the internet as well?

Yup. But, Sony never released a web browser for it. But, the PS2 can easily surf the net.

Actually, if you get the Linux Kit that was shortly available for the PS2, it was very easy to go online.

The PSP is online capable, so if you're trying to suggest sony is just "promising" with the intent to deliver, you're terribly mistaken in your efforts.

I knew that about the PSP, I was just pointing out the fact that Sony had said the same thing before. If it works, kudos to them, if it doesnt, no biggie.

And they delivered with the Linux kit, which was fully capable of online webbrowsing. I don't see where you're trying to take this.

I think what YSSMAN is trying to say is that although web browsing was available on the PS2, it wasn't widely available to an audience who had the knowhow to use it. By that I mean, not everyone knows how to use linux. To make a good go of it, they really needed to release a specialised, easy to use, PS2 browser. I for one didn't even know that a Linux kit existed for the PS2.

Doesn't matter, Sony has already shown videos of the PS3 running multiple websites at once and switching on the fly between different browsers and different portions of the OS. Him questioning it is nothing more than his negative views and attempt to "bash" Sony. He's just very discreet about it.

I remember surfing the web way back on my Sega Dreamcast. I don't need my PS3 to surf the web but its nice to have.

I was not attempting to downplay the feature, I just brought up the fact that they said the same thing was supposed to happen with the PS2. I'm all for web-browing on the consoles, as it will negate the need for me to get out of bed or climb up the stairs in the morning...

I only brought it up because I remembered that it happened before, no gain for Wii, no gain for 360, etc. Just because I have said many times before that I'm not in complete support for the PS3 doesnt mean I'm going to attack it every single time...

touche. Personally, I will be lining up on release day (won't be much of a line, I'm in a rural area), well, thats if toyworld ever start taking pre-orders! I won't be cruising the net with it, as it is set up about 3 paces from my broadband equipped PC, but it's a nice feature all the same (if my PV goes down, it will be the only way I have of getting to GTP)
