We've all had them - great moments in games. They are what makes games fun to play; they make us react differently; make us laugh, make us cry... they are your Top 10 gaming moments.
Here's mine (in no order and some slightly anecdotal):
1. D-Day landings level on Call Of Duty 2. Made me want to shout "MEDIIIC!!!!" Really indepth and involving. Great experience.
2. Whilst playing GTA:Vice City online with a friend we got engaged in a battle with some nutter with a machine gun. The 'nutter' took me out and continued to battle with my friend. I spawned down the road, outside the policestation, jumped into a police car and sped down the road siren blaring. Approached the two still in battle, did a handbrake turn between them, my mate jumped in and we sped off again. The comment from the 'nutter' was priceless "You *******!".
3. When i played Half Life 2 for the first time i was totally stunned. "My god i can actually pick that up! Haha lets see if i can throw this coke can at that guard... Oh..." The whole HL2 physics engine made for a very memorable game. In fact thinking about it, so much stuff from that game should be in this list, like being able to throw stuff with the gravity gun like the saw blades and the harpoon etc. etc. etc. I could go on about this game forever.
4. Playing Grand Theft Auto 3 for the first time "It's GTA in 3D!!"
5. Playing Gran Turismo 3 for the first time. Me and my brother played GT3 for 16 hours a day for a week. Great memory, so much fun. We played so much over that period that the steering wheel i bought at the beginning of the week was broke by the end!
6. Playing Civilisation (the first one) for the first time was just the best. Great game, way ahead of it's time.
7. Mario Kart on the SNES was just too much fun in Battlemode. I've spent many hours playing that over the years.
8. Realising that you can control the the ducks in Duck Hunt with the P2 controller! Oh the fun to be had.
9. Pretty much anytime i go online and play Battlefield i encounter great gaming moments. Such as in BF:V i remember driving around on the scooter being chased by a tank. My housemate was on the same server and could hear the 'toots' from my scooter and couldn't stop laughing.
9b. BF2: Was a medic on a roof with other members of my squad. One member got shot and fell off. I jumped off the roof (one of those massively tall buildings), pulled the shoot and landed on top of him. Pulled out the difribs and brought him back from near dead. Just love to think how that must've looked for him.
10. I still feel chuffed to this day for getting All Golds on Mario Kart 64. Pretty much the only game i've properly completed
So. Your turn.
