Inspired by Terronium-12's thread on people's top 10 racing games, something that has been buzzing on my brain lately is shooter games and I wanted to make a thread on them in a similar vein to his. Shooter games have been around for a while now, many have been made over the years, we’ve all heard of them and they have quite a pretty large presence in gaming to this day. Many of us have probably played a number of them over the years, which begs the question. What are your favorites? :)

Whether it be 1st person or 3rd, post yours here and tell us why! They don’t have to be in order if you don’t want them to be and even if you have under 10 shooter games to post, you can just post what you have. Honorable mentions are also welcome as well.

Descent or G-Police - because the vehicle you were controlling/dashboard in the first person view magically stopped my motion sickness and made them the only FPS games I could ever play without feeling horribly ill within ten minutes.

Operation Flashpoint dam i miss that game. First one I got hooked on,think it was the first one to have decent AI ie: do a sniper mission and the next time you done it the %#@!&*s sneaked up behind you and filled you with holes:)

In no particular order:

  • Spec Ops - The Line (massively underappreciated title)
  • Resistance: Fall of Man (great story and much on-line fun here at GTP)
  • SOCOM Confrontation (hard as nails - but great fun)
  • COD 4 (still a benchmark and turning point)
  • Far Cry 3 (doesn't hold up as well in terms of replay - but at the time, just wow)
  • Killzone 3 (great story and much on-line fun here at GTP)
  • Operation Flashpoint
  • Rainbow 6 Vegas
  • Rainbow 6 Siege (before it got too silly - so first 3 seasons or so)
  • Battlefield Bad Company 2 (when it was still a bit silly)
