GameStop’s Summer PS3 Bundle Includes Gran Turismo 5 XL

If you’re looking to pick up a new PlayStation 3 in the United States, take a look at GameStop’s latest bundle, which includes a 160GB PS3 Slim, a copy of Gran Turimo 5 XL Edition, The Sly Collection, and a 30 day free trial of PlayStation Plus.

Priced at $249.99 – the same as a single 160GB PlayStation 3 at Amazon – this bundle essentially offers the games for free. In addition, keep in mind that GT5 XL includes all of the game updates through Spec 2.0 along with a $20 DLC voucher, which makes this bundle an even better value.

You can order the bundle online, or pick it up at your local GameStop store.

Seriously? You’ve bought another console for more trades? I’m sure some people think this a pokemon game rather than a driving game.

    2. velociremter

Haha. Not just for trades but that’s a bonus. I really want to do the triple monitor setup some day but getting a backup for original fatty is the main reason.

You shouldn’t use Wikipedia to prove your point. It’s user edited, so ANYONE could have written the part you are referring to. Simply put, Wikipedia is NOT proof.
    Sorry :-\ but it’s true.

  2. Amac500

Great, GT5XL is now available special for new players. So when do us loyal players who bought it when it came out get access to the goodies? I just want 1 stealth car, thats all. A SLS or a McLaren F1 or R10 would be cloud 9, then 787b. I missed my chance at the NSX and the GT-R because my ps3 Internet wasn’t working and I tried it when it was but it was to late :( If anybody has a card for one I will trade you ANYTHING for it, just name it I’ll find it and trade it.

Selling my Nintendo with Mario bros and excitebike for 20 dollars…..whats the best deal you seen now ?

  4. BlacqueJacques

Why settle for 160 GB PS3 when you can get 320 GB PS3 at alsmost the same price, or better?

Besides; how soon before the PS4?

I’ll make my 80GB last until then eh!

    1. teppischfresser

You don’t use the hard drive. But a 500 GB for about 100$. Tnever buy the more expensive PS3 just because of the HDD. And no, the 80 is NOT backwards compatible. The 60 was.

    2. Quakebass

There was a backwards compatible 20, 60, 80, and 160 GB model. I own the 80, and saw quite a few 160’s while looking for one. You just need to find the right model type. But it is better to buy a smaller-drive system and then just purchase a much larger hard drive.

    3. jgancherjr

Sony said ps3 would be a “10year” system. I’m gonna hold them to that and go ahead and trade in my Vita and games and pick up PS3 number 2!

  5. helix_9

I got a 320gb PS3 with modern warfare 3 for $189 last month from Best Buy. I would give this one a miss. There’s bound to be a better deal around if you look.

  6. SimonK

Nobody noticed they wrote ‘Grand’, not ‘Gran’. I don’t know why so many people get that wrong. ‘Tourismo’ is also common.

    1. teppischfresser

Yeah lol. They had it wrong too when the 80GB came out, they said it was backwards compatible, but it’s not.

  7. HKS racer

this offer seems good but if you consider:

    – 7 milions people already purchased Gt5
    – there are many people in the world not interested in gaming
    – no more pre release Gt5 hype (we all was expecting the best game of all times)
    – FM4 carlist and customisation

this bundle is quite a fail.

    1. TeamCZRRacing

Think about this: Would you rather have just a PS3 Slim 160 for $250, or would you rather have the Slim 160 and two games for the same price? I’ll take the latter, thanks.

    2. mcfizzle

I know someone who just picked this up. He’s a former short track racer and used to play GT on PS2. He saw my rig and started to become interested but was afraid of the initial investment. Once he saw this price and my offer to let him borrow my G27 he jumped on it. Not so fail huh?

    3. RACECAR

And you make this hilarious claim without noticing the other PS3 title included or the hard to miss 160GB PS3? Your comment is a fail.

  8. USARMYCOMBATVET

Great value for people wanting to buy a new PS3 console. I’ve never played the Sly collection. What is it like? How many games are included in the sly collection?

    1. gamerdog6482

The games were very good, made by the people who made inFAMOUS. Nothing lie it though. It’s a stealth game.

    2. HuskyGT

Sly Cooper is a great franchise. I have the original trilogy for PS2 and those games are a lot of fun for true classic gamers, but not for those people who think gaming means shooting strangers in a crappy and completely unoriginal shooter.

I don’t know how good they look for PS3 now that they’ve been upscaled to HD, but if the older versions were one of the best looking games for the PS2 then expect some eye candy. Not that graphics matter though.

      I would definitely buy it.

    3. CaptainHarlock

The Sly series is absolutely terrific. Great, colorful characters, compelling gameplay, fantastic atmosphere. Try to imagine what it would be like playing through a Warner Bros. cartoon. I have the Sly Collection and it’s a great pick up.

    1. TeamCZRRacing

It will help GameStop’s sales. GT5 actually has a good reputation outside of these forums. In fact, GT5 is the bestselling PS3 game of all time.

    2. mcfizzle

Not quite true CZR. GT5 is the top selling exclusive. I’m pretty sure the last 3 COD’s have sold better.

    3. Amac500

And to be far nobody on this forum hate the game, we are just too into the game and get pisses of by the Nissans they always add because we all want our favorite cars and track, lol. Game quality GT5 stills wipes the floor!

    4. Quakebass

      @Tintorera:

He stated that GT is the best selling EXCLUSIVE, not just general PS3 game. CoD is cross-platform and I believe it had more sales…

  9. HuskyGT

Oh, and I envy you guys in the US. The 160gb Slim I bought last year after my fatty died cost me $500 (US Dollars) and it had nothing but a DS3 included.

    1. luke4hay

Not me :-( Had YLOD 6 months ago and can’t afford a new one. Kept myself busy with the other 4 games though lol
