Well isn’t this interesting? To say things have been on the quiet side in relation to the anticipated Gran Turismo Sport would be an understatement. The upcoming entry in the franchise was first revealed late last year, and a public beta intending to preface the full-featured release was earmarked for an early/spring 2016 time table.
As we are quickly approaching the summer, many have been left with the assumption that neither the beta nor the full game itself would meet that deadline. French journalist Cyril Drevet recounted his visit to Polyphony’s studios earlier this year, commenting that the current status of the game was “complicated”, hinting that he believed the title could slip as far as 2017. This, compounded by Polyphony’s ongoing silence, gave cause for concern.
However, recently there has been evidence of renewed life in the reports regarding the game, accompanying the rumors of Sony’s refreshed PlayStation 4 (internally referred to as NEO). Phillipe Cardon, Vice President of Sony Europe, implied that despite the previous report, Polyphony’s first GT title on the PS4 was still on track for a 2016 release.
The most recent report lends credence to Cardon’s words, perhaps going one further by sweetening the pot. German website PS Inside has dug around the official press release portal of PlayStation Germany, and has discovered that not only might Gran Turismo Sport still be on track for release later this year, but it will release alongside the PlayStation VR on October 12th.
Sony has already confirmed that PlayStation VR will release this October, and while nothing has been officially stated one way or the other regarding Gran Turismo Sport, Sony has stressed their confidence in the racing giant debuting on the console as scheduled.
Not only is this entirely possible, but it would comfortably set up Gran Turismo Sport as the title to push Sony’s VR headset, and we already know that GT Sport will support VR out of the box, which makes this recent revelation all the more plausible.
Either way, when E3 opens in Los Angeles in six weeks, all eyes will be on Sony – and GTPlanet will be there!

As much as this is interesting, it’s sad how they just “forgot” about GT6.
Sometimes, silence is suspicious. Like a toddler, if you hear silence, you can’t help but wonder what they’re gonna make a mess of.
As for GT6, the silence has basically told everyone that they are done with it. Especially, since the last real update was in September of last year. At this point, I would be surprised to see an update for GT6 at all.
GTSport is questionable for me now. I would have to see some solid improvements before I would get it.
You can bet you exhaust pipe that it will, but it will most likely be advertised for The PS4k/Neo.
The longer the silence from PD goes on, the more and more it looks like GTSport may be tailor made for the Neo, at least to me. While it should also be playable on the standard PS4 my suspicion is that Kaz hit the wall on the PS4 and the game will only well and truly reach it’s potential on the Neo, certainly in VR mode.
Well I certainly hope all this is true. Hopefully they’ll meet this PSVR October deadline.
They have been awfully quiet about GTSport, and GT6 has been pretty uneventful for the past few months, too.
Cant wait to try PS VR, but seriously getting your hopes up for GT Sport, well we all know that is holding your hand out to see which one fills up faster.!!!!!!

Really, I thought they said SPRING 2016 not too long ago! Anyways, it feel good the prespective of so many racing titles coming out this year.
The beta is supposed to launch in Spring 2016.
Maybe they meant Spring in the Southern Hemisphere, which would mean September 2016. In any case we all know PD cannot be trusted when it comes to release dates & deadlines.

Just in case you did not get the joke ynot, flip October 10 (10/12) and you will get 12/10 hence December 10th.
My 2 cents – the VR mode for GT Sport will not work for our current PS4s, may need to upgrade to a NEO. (NEO and Morpheus..)
Or just play it on the PS4 without VR until you’re ready to upgrade.
