GT Sport Daily Races: Red vs. Blue

The latest set of GT Sport Daily Races is now available, and speed is very much on the menu. You’ll be heading to some of the most full-throttle tracks in the game over the next seven days, with a variety of pretty powerful machinery.

That’s most true in Race C this week, which sees you pick up the Gr.2 race cars for a 14-lap run around Red Bull Ring. The track has hosted two rounds of the Formula One World Championship this season, and now provides the venue for this virtual Super GT race.

You can pick any of the six Gr.2 cars in the game, with one car each from Honda, Lexus, and Nissan from each of the 2008 and 2016 seasons. As usual, the 2016 cars will prove the quicker of the options, but tire wear is also a factor this week.

With degradation set at 8x — one lap is worth eight laps of tire wear — you’ll need to manage the Racing Medium and Racing Soft stints, and Red Bull Ring’s awkward pit entry, to do well. Both tire grades are mandatory this week too, so you’ll need to use both during the race or face a one-minute post-race penalty.

Race B will take you to the fastest track on the F1 calendar: Monza, in Italy. Aside from five braking zones, you’ll be on the power throughout, using your preferred Gr.4 car. These are race cars heavily based on road cars — stripped back, caged, and fitted with racing grade components, but basically the same shell as their donor car.

This race comes up relatively often and it’s usually the home of the Bugatti Veyron Gr.4. The Veyron is a bit of an oddity in the race car classes, in that it has no Gr.3 equivalent so it’s the only manufacturer with a Gr.4 or Gr.3 car that you cannot represent in the Manufacturer Series. It’s also enormously down on power compared to its 986hp road car sibling. However it’ll likely prove the car of choice once again in this four-lap sprint.

Race A is a slightly unusual choice this week, as players will race the tri-corn oval at Blue Moon Bay Speedway. The game will provide you with a Chevrolet Camaro SS ’16 for the race, so it’s simply a case of getting out there and racing. We expect some chaotic final laps…

These three races will run through to Monday July 12, when another set will replace them.
