A new batch of Time and Drift trial events are now live in Gran Turismo 5, featuring the following cars and tracks:

Time Trial No. 23

  • Cape Ring Inside – NASCAR cars, untuned with Racing/Hard tires.
  • Trial Mountain Circuit Reverse – 345HP non-racecars with Comfort/Soft tires or less.
Drift Trial No. 23
  • Eiger Nordwand Short Course Reverse – Any car, Comfort/Soft tires or less.
  • Nurburgring GP/D – Any car, Comfort/Soft tires or less.

The game’s Online Car Dealership has also been updated to feature the game’s rally cars (here’s an overview of the current selection). Thanks to jables72 for the early tip!

jeez PD, my first lap on cold tires and i get gold for the Nascar, come on! i even messed up braking in turn 1.
Do they even try these events before they set the gold time? limit?

  2. Quakebass

I wonder – and I KNOW that this has been brought up before – if the rally cars are hinting at Pikes Peak or Rally DLC.
I know, I know, the counter argument is that “this has happened before”. BUT – look at the timing – POSSIBLY, not FOR SURE, the next OCD update will be in 2 weeks on thursday, and this update or the next MIGHT be the last OCD update before the December DLC, due to PD being busy with the DLC being released properly, they may not update the OCD until after the DLC…

OR its just a coincidence and I’m being “DLC Conspiracy Theorist”…

I hope its a Rally pack, and if it is, I’m going to assume it will include snow, maybe even snowy weather for weather change tracks, being released in December (AKA Snow season…)

    1. MadmuppGT

I bet you my left nut cars in the next DLC will be the Toyota FT-86II and the 2012 Nissan GT-R (mainly because those cars are already more or less in the game)

  3. Quakebass

I was about to do the seasonals… But then PSN was like NOOOO! WON’T LEEEEET YOU!
I wanted my 4 mil. credits… oh well, I’ll try ’em out tomorrow.

    1. MadmuppGT

Tell me about it, I was in the mood then nope, slapped across the face for even being so foolish as to think I would be allowed haha

  4. MadmuppGT

PSN is down, repeat we have a PSN down! just as I find out about the new seasonal event too… Timing is bang on!

    1. HPUnleashed

Yup, not only can we not do any of the seasonal events, but today is also the PS3’s 5th “Birthday”. What perfect timing to perform a 14 hour scheduled maintenance, right?

  5. Psycho Tuber

Hey PD if you put a SPA seasonal you might sell more DLCs. Do not worry about the cry babies that will say it is unfair. What is unfair is not to have seasonal for the track that was PAID for!

    1. erik1127

wrong. No one should have the luxury of using it if they did not pay for it, unless someone who has paid for it uses it online.
Sick of people wanting things for free on the backs of others.

    2. Greennarcotics

erik1127 did you even read what psycho tuber wrote ?. He’s talkin about having a seasonal event at spa for the people who bought the DLC. Also how can you just say Wrong he’s giving his view on the DLC, you may disagree with what he’s saying but it’s not wrong.

    3. erik1127

I may of taken it the wrong way, for that I apoligize. If it is possible for PD to make as seasonal just for people who bought the DLC than I agree.

    4. HPUnleashed

@Psycho Tuber: I completely agree! As of yet, I’ve had no reason to go and buy any of the DLCs, cause they don’t give any kind of benefit to those who purchase them.

    1. Vortex1be

Rally doesn’t suck. It takes more skill to drive and that could make it suck for you. Besides I don’t like Nascar but you don’t see me bashing on it.

If you don’t like it just don’t play it and shut the f**k up plz… Always this stupid whining over nothing…

  6. Greennarcotics

•Trial Mountain Circuit Reverse – 345HP non-racecars with Comfort/Soft tires or less… I wonder what car everyone will use for this hmmmmmmm I know R390 GT1 Road car the same car that gets used every other week.

I’m glad to see nascar in there and untuned which is good.

They should have that for every new time trial, tuned and untuned ie people who want to drive the R390 GT1 Rd car and people who don’t. :p

    1. will-i-am

I agree with 1 tune and 1 untune. But the nascar isnt a true no tune. Adjustment can still be made . They should just supply the car for an untune TT.

  7. Funky

Sweet, was just thinking the other day I wish there was something new to do with Nascar. I had alot of fun with the last time trial on Suzuka. Just in time before the Nascar season finale too, I wonder who will win? Smoke almost seems unstoppable with all of his momentum and wins in the chase but yet Carl remains consistent with good finishes. I like them both and will be happy with either result but I think I’d like to see Carl win his first championship a little bit more. I can’t wait!

  8. pathong

watching Nascar on TV is really boring, there is never anything happening

but driving them in gt5 is fun, 868hp and lots of tyre spinning, whats not to love :)

    1. JohnScoonsBeard

The nascar event is limited to 850bhp so any with oil change done will need to use the limiter. Spa could be a special event that is only accessible if you have forked out for the track. It’s a good incentive to purchase as long as there are other seasonals for the paupers.

    1. emeraldpython

It only sucks for one reason: there’s not enough rally tracks in GT5!

Remember when rally tracks used to be GOOD in GT2-4?
Grand Canyon? Tahiti Maze? Chanomix GT4 version? Even PIKES PEAK?

All gone for no good reason!
So in GT6, rather than getting rid of it, they should IMPROVE it.

    2. TokoTurismo

      @emeraldpython
I couldn’t have said it any better. :) Improvements makes perfect, and that’ll be in GT6. ;)

    3. Bom15

Imo theres not any really good realistic rally games on PS3. Dirt series is by far the most fun, but not realistic. WRC 2 is more realistic. But the menus suck, u gotta press x multiple times just for it do anything. And the proportions on the some of cars are wrong. And finally the liveries are wrong on the older cars, for an official game thats just wrong. But GT5 isn’t strictly a rally game. It tries to cater for every kind of motorsport so i let it off a bit. Knowing the GT series tho i expect/hope there will be improvements in GT6. On a personal note i would kill for an MG Metro 6R4 in GT (wink wink, nudge nudge PD).

    4. Eric W

I wish that they would split the GT series into other sub series or add-on packs. Personally, I could care less about the rally and NASCAR aspects of the game so that is something that I plainly wouldn’t buy unless it was better represented. NASCAR in Gran Turismo needs to be have a pace car and cautions!

  9. adramire

Why does PD use the same tracks over and over? It is always either cape ring, Tskuba or trial mountain sigh…cmon PD be dynamic and throw some real world tracks like oh I don’t know Spa?

    1. ml_paladin888

not going to happen. they can’t assume that everyone with access to the the seasonal event have purchased the track pack.

    1. jables72

this is the 3rd week in a row i wonder if there is a record of the most times in a row the same person got credit for notifying of the updates.

  10. Quakebass

The picture makes the track almost not look like Daytona… In my opinion, its the best NASCAR picture I’ve seen!
    (Good job ceiling fan!)
This will be the first time I’ve drifted on the Nurburgring… Also, any updates on what’s in the OCD update?

    1. GT5_Honda_Guy

That’s a great drift course, some really cool turns. Me and some of my friends drift on there quite often.
