When the staff at VG247 got the chance to interview SCEE president Andrew House, they didn’t hesitate to ask him directly about why we didn’t get the Gran Turismo 5 release date announcement that everyone was expecting. His response:
“I am not going to make a prediction on that but I think you will see something on GT5 very soon.”
After the bizarre roller-coaster that has been GamesCom, even more people will be looking for solid GT5 details at the Tokyo Game Show, coming up September 24-27. As we have speculated for some time now, history shows that Polyphony Digital loves presenting information in front of a home crowd – but we’ll just have to wait and see…

i mean they did GT4 in an normal dvd with 800 cars and it looked great but they cant fit 1000 cars with damage on a bluray disc i dont get it

I can’t blame PD for holding out – the economy is still in the doldrums, and game sales are way down. If I had spent years on development I might consider waiting until the casual GT fan had the bucks to purchase it. Die hard fans will buy it anyways – regardless of when it comes out.
Of course I will buy this game in the first minute the stores are open. But I hope they don’t disappoint me any more. I love the world map, 1000 cars with a in car camera but not all with damage:(, 60 circuits etc. :) Let this game come soon!!! ;)
I mean wtf…it seems like gt5 is becoming more and more of a shitty game…I mean apart from the extended list of cars and tracks I don’t see any real advance…games have had weather, day/night and damage for almost 10 years…PD has been makin this game for more than 4 years…WTF, r they retarted or what?? I just hope the sim got better, it’s the only thing that will still make me buy this game..oh, and kaz seems like a weirdo to me..And as one of u noticed, damage will be possible only for 17% of the cars, I mean how is that possible?? Other games support 100% of damage to their cars..I don’t understand, can someone explain?!
I don’t think this will drop until after X-Mas now. I think they’ll wait as a lot of other games are dropping before or around X-Mas (e.g. Call of Duty Modern Warfare II) and they’ll not want those games taking customers away from GT5. I also think they’ve still got a fair bit left to do on the game to make it releasable. I wouldn’t even hold your breath for a release date at TGS, we’ll get another nice trailer and some more game play but we’ll not get a release date until gone Christmas time.

Yeah TGS will be the show for an announcement, then the show after that, then the show after that. I know I will buy this game the absolute moment it is on sale, but I am still sick of all this bullshit they are putting their die hard fans through.
Half the problem is, they don’t need to release this game at Christmas to make money, it will sell heaps no matter when it ships, so where’s the incentive for them to rush?

It’s less than four weeks till TGS guys. I’m intending to get out the DF GT wheel and get deeply acquainted with GT4’s Nurburgring and Prologue’s physics, so I can compare when I own the Special Anniversary Edition this December.
