Endurance Races

We’ve had some incredible races in the iRacing Endurance Le Mans Series over the last nine months. We’ve experienced wins, tight finishes and coming back from difficulty to good results. However, this race would make everything else look like a walk in the park.

The iRacing Endurance Le Mans Series – or to put it another way, my favourite online racing series in sim racing at present. With its 6 hour races and multiclass format, including my beloved hybrid LMP1 class, it was always going to win me over.

As you may have read previously on the site, back in May GTPlanet member Brad McClaren (McClarenDesign) made the trip from Oklahoma, USA to Auckland, NZ (a trip of over 7,500 miles) to race with Hooncorp in the New Zealand 24 Hours of Lemons. Driving the #137 Commodore, Brad managed to survive the dark, the rain, and the opposition, with the team finishing 22nd amongst a field of 53 starters. The second Hooncorp car on the track, the #37 Pulsar, came 15th.

The 2018 24 Hours of Spa is happening right now. Last month, Toyota won the 24 Hours of Le Mans. These twice-around-the-clock races are a spectacle, of this there is no doubt, but has there ever been anything longer?

Sony hosted a small group of media at their Benelux headquarters in Amsterdam, yesterday, and our own Blitz187 was on hand to catch any and all new tidbits of information that might emerge (this event took place before the delay was officially confirmed). As usual, Sony was extremely tight-lipped about the game’s details and did not use the event to reveal any major new features.
