Hmmm, no, not for several months. It used to be owned by some woman in Minessota, or some very random place.

Was this site really started on Jan. 25, 2001. It it was, happy late four year anniversary to GTP.
You could say it's the domain name's birthday, yes, but I usually celebrate May 15th, which is the day I officially opened the GTP Forums in 2001.

So, why did everyone leave GTF?

If memory serves me, there were alot of reasons. Kenji was having some server issues, so GTF was down for awhile. But I think the main reason was Kenji decieded to take granturismo.com in a different direction than in the past, and that made a quite a few of the regular's unhappy.

I hate to sound like a noob, but whats GTF?

Gran Turismo Forums. An old board that was as popular as this board is today. It was a lot simpler though. One day, as Space said, there were server issues and the forum was gonna be shut down for a while. Jordan came on and invited some of us to his site, GTP. The HMRCWG thread became a sort of foreign embassy for the many "refugees." :D

awesome. That was back when i did nothing worthwile with my internet time.
WAit, you mean you do wothwhile stuff now? I know I don't!

I think I'm an old GTPlanet member. I've been here since September 16, 2001. So I have been here for 3 and a half years. I just don't go and post stuff around, I rather go on and read what's been said and sometimes I post stuff around here. So it's been a long time and I hope GTPlanet will stay open for very long.

Congratulations all! Only a few more months untill my 3rd year here. (I know not this account, my first one)

Yep. Three years! Quite the while... Hey space!

Thanks for the mention, Gian. You can really tell when granturismo.com started falling off the ball.. Check out the logs on the Wayback Machine:

Sad. If you look at the months between May 11th 2000 and november 2000, the screenshots really showed a GREAT resource. Unfortunately it never got off the ground.. Sad really.

Oh well, atleast we know that Kenji's greedy, stuck up arse got a rather hefty bin o' cash. Most likely anyway. And yes, Kenji was greedy and stuck up. I knew him (not person to person, but i've talked to him enough.)

EDIT: Oh, and im not an oldie! I mean, i'm only 17... Thanks for making me feel like some old geezer. :guilty:

Quite easy to tell, go to their user profile and check their last activity date.

Not really worth bumping such an old topic for though.

But for what its worth, i kept switching between the GTF and GTP MSN group, and joined up at the first proper GTP forum after Jordan created it. I'm the 18th registered member on GTP here. :P
