Phil Frank was/is a member here, although he used the username pfd... I think you may be getting your wires crossed on the "Phil Frank is dead" story though. It seems his father, the cartoonist Phil Frank, passed away recently, although I can't find anything to suggest that Phil Frank of Phil Frank Design/Nike One fame has died too...
Wikipedia article on "Phil Frank"
In Gran Turismo 4 the 2022 Nike One has Morse code on the right hand side of the car. When reversed, this reads "www.phil-frank.com", the artist commissioned to design this car for Gran Turismo 4.

Yeh, I saw that too, but whoever put that there has made a mistake - there is also a link at the bottom of the page to "Son's website" which has current (2009) material on it, and various news articles on the web state that Phil Frank Sr. had a son (also called Phil) who is a designer in Portland, Oregon - where Phil Frank Design is based...

So Sr was the GTP member? I thought it was Jr.
Then why would the Cartoonist (Sr) design a car for Nike when it is Jr who worked in Nike design and also worked in Auto design for Ford (Where he came close to Saleen) then helped design the Saleen S7 among other Saleen parts. Reading the Bio at Phil Frank Design and other details it all comes back to Jr. (including the Nike 2022) |

Also, while they may observe what people are discussing/complaining/raving about, they will NEVER acknowledge it for legal reasons. If they got involved in a public discussion and then implemented any of the ideas that were presented, they could be potentially sued for stealing the ideas. That's another reason why they will never respond to ideas emailed to them directly.
They are very unlikely to talk about features in public for the simple reason that you never promise anything in games development until it is actually there. Part of my job is discussing with gamers/customers about features. We've come across legal issues, nothing related to this. We leave stealing of ideas to Microsoft *runs* But yeah, PD will/do observe here. They'd never officially comment on it though. |
