B.A.S. Racing Team Tryouts

Firstly, we are a racing team, not a drag or drift team.


A tryout for B.A.S. Racing will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 4:15 PM Eastern Time. We require you to join team servers at least three times a week, unless we are notified by PM or the Team Forum.

We strive for excellence. We will have team battles as frequently as possible. We will also have a team race at 5 PM Eastern Time daily. We will have an external forum that you will have access to once you are accepted into the team.

Eight people will be in the team at any time. Two of those positions will be taken by the team owners, I (racerman13) and racekiller12.

The car used for the tryout will be the special Nissan GT-R Spec V released in two days from this post. We will be running with no restrictions, so I'd advise anyone participating to do an oil change, break in the engine, etc.

The tryouts will be as follows:

There will be four events (in the following order): a race at Tsukuba Circuit, a time trial at Cape Ring North, a race at Special Stage Route 7, and a time trial at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Points will be given as thus: 0 to the winner, 2 to 2nd place, 3 to 3rd place, 4 to 4th place, and so on. Participants will strive to have 0 points. Any ties for a spot in the team will be decided by a 1-lap race at the Nurburgring 24-hour circuit.

If we have over 14 participants, we will open two servers and the top 7 from each server will move on to the next stage (which will be on a later date (yet to be determined)). If we have over 30 participants, we will open three servers and the top 5 from each server will move on to the next stage (which, again, will be at a later date (yet to be determined)).

There are two things I would like to note. Firstly, I and racekiller12 are kids, and we do sound like kids. However, do not let this put you off. We are serious about GT5, and can easily beat the average person on it. I am on near daily, and GT5 is the only game I play. If you would like us to use voice changers during the tryout, please express that wish in your post. If the majority of people participating wish this, it will be so. However, we will not use voice changers after the team has been chosen.

Also, we are a clean-racing team, and if during the tryout you hit someone (and I mean hit, not lightly tap, etc.) I will ask you to relinquish any position you gained. If you do not, you will be kicked from the session.

No one seems to be interested. Could someone advise me as to why I'm not receiving any applications? I see much less detailed posts getting many applications rather rapidly.

Could be the kid thing... I don't care myself & I run a club already but a lot of people have an issue racing kids mate, your less mature X1 loving peers are to blame for that.

Perhaps put up a post asking to give you a chance to prove yourself? You shouldn't have to but it might be necessary unfortunately.

PS, great to see some younger racers being serious about GT5, keep it up & don't give up 👍
 
I don't know if mentioning this might help, but I and racekiller12 both also race road karts in real life. Staying clean is obviously a must there. That skill of staying clean and knowing how to drive transfers to any virtual races we do.

He and I are certainly not "X1 loving kids". We like to win, but I certainly would rather have a close, clean fight and lose than to just run away from the field.

I guarantee you, you won't be disappointed by the way we drive. I have, unfortunately, raced with immature kids that push everyone out of their way. I assure you, my wish is for fun, clean, competitive racing.

If you dislike the way we drive, feel free to remove yourself from the team. However, again, I can assure you that our driving won't disappoint.

Thank you, Heathenpride, for the tip. I certainly hope this post wasn't necessary, but it is certainly true that many players my age have ruined kids' reputation in general.

You are a rare lad indeed mate. Well structured sentences & grammar plus correct spelling AND you're a clean driver... There should be more young people like you in the world but instead its mostly muppets!

Back on topic:

I run a casual league with all sorts of members & you're both welcome to come along and have some races. We have regular daily members & others that drop in for a couple days then disappear so there's no set structure (eg a league) instead we set up races on our group page (refer my sig) and we go from there.

You could easily run your own group but still drop in whenever you like for the occasional race 👍

We have a race in 11 hours & 10 min, is a 35 lap race of SS5 with 540pp max & super GT's or gt300's, we have spots if you're keen :D
