in europe at least. Like i said $500 seems reasonable but our conversions seems way off the mark.

In 2006 sony had $600/£420 now in 2013 ms have $500/£430. I don't know how the markets have changed since then but surely not by that much.

£429 = $670.

NO one was expecting £299-350 for the next gen console. You have to be insane if you actually thought it would be that low. Seriously, you are the ONLY person that thought it would be that low.

Um, he's talking in £'s. For you the console is costing the equivalent of £320, so bang on that price. For us it's costing £430.

If Sony can get in $100-150 cheaper they are going to own this.
Never going to happen. If it does then you are right, fairly easy decision between consoles. I just don't see it happening. IF it does, then PSN wont be free.

Well, the US prices are without taxes if I'm right, but still...

They are but as I say when US people were paying $599 without taxes for the PS3 we were paying £420. Now the US people are paying $100 less for the XB1 without taxes yet we're paying £10 more than PS3. Madness.

If PS4 is £350 or less it's going to be an easy decision for most people I should think.

It could do, because in theory they can sell it for anything they want. These are loss making products anyway based around the same business model as printer ink and shaving razors.

If they are willing to give away an extra $100 and maybe get that back with a few extra launch games people buy it will be a winner. No one is asking them it give away $400+ dollars like they did last time!

I wouldn't be surprised if Sony just called an emergency meeting among their executives who are available. They have such a huge chance here.

On the Xbox. Going to be a no for me unfortunately.

Overall, I think the conference was good. Lots of games, and a ton of gameplay. Forza 5 and it's new AI feature seems interesting, and of course it looks stunning. Also liked Project Spark, and Titan Fall does have some potential. Though I honestly don't get why you need to shower people with XP for the tiniest bit work. Just annoys me.

For me, the standout was MGS. Looked absolutely fantastic. Will definately get that game. But! Not for the Xbox. They might have a good game line-up, but it still doesn't change all the BS they are pulling with DRM, Puplishers and always online.

If Sony is smart, they price the PS4 lower than the Xbox, and cash in on all the negativity surrounding MS currently. And of course, there's still some questions regarding DRM on the PS4.

By the way. Am I missing something, or is the GPU still not announced?

Sony could very easily take more care to make exchange rates line up more and make a big difference in price.

I totally feel with you (I bet you never expected to hear this from me ;) ).

I live in Switzerland and I seriously expect shops listing it at 700CHF (swiss francs), and 1CHF is about 1$ nowadays.

Most likely some smaller shops will have it at 650, but yeah...

The PS4 is expected to be clearly cheaper in production. So it's good possible that it starts at a lower price.

Plus, I don't think that Sony wants to only make profit in the last 2 - 3 years. With this fail of MS and the (potentially) great looking features of the PS4, it's their chance now.

The conference was pretty good until they just killed everything at the end with the European price.

I guess i'll buy one in two years+ and get Forza 6.

Most likely a reduced X1 at lower price will be avaible then. Without all that TV/Multimedia stuff... PLEASE! I don't need that stuff!

I'd probably buy a cheaper purely on gaming focused X1.

Yes, we're definitely agreed on this one. Everything in that press conference, good or bad, just went out of the window for most Europeans I imagine.

If PS4 can be something like $450/£349/€400 they'll be laughing.

Just so Americans know. £429 is our $599 no go area. PS3 was £429 and $599 in the US.

I think MS should be aiming around £350 or lower. At least even keep it with a 3 in the price, like £350-380 or even £399, crossing £400 seems an odd choice considering US is $499. I think 400-500 US dollars is fine.

Good conference, I see the prices not lasting long or with decent bundles with Sony competing at the same time so I'm not too hung up on the price. Quite impressive.

Want to see more on the Black Tusk game
