Interesting new design surfacing. It is a new take on the car door. The explanation video does all the talking, so please click the link to watch this neat technology. I'm not sure how if it will catch on, the price or weight, but it is a cool idea nonetheless.

Think theres already been a topic on this, and the Z1 pioneered this kinda door system.
 
Worse idea than Lambo doors on Honda Civics... :yuck:
 
I think its pretty cool. I wonder if a four door application would be feasible....
 
I guess they must be based out of Detroit since they were in front of the Fox Theatre. But I think it's pretty cool and I would love to see it in person.

There's a Fox Theatre in nearly every big city. The company is located in California.
 
I think, "great, another thing that could break", when I see something like this. Other than that though, I think it's very cool.

I don't think it's as geeky as Lambo type doors. No offense to those who have Lambo doors. I think they are also pretty cool, and you got guts :D
 
I don't know why but I'd like to see crash tests of someone t-boning a car with this kind of door and then maybe I'll think about buying it. :dopey:

Yep i was sure id seen that before. I think there was a vid of a car with em doors just parked on a street or something.

My only concern is that it requires power. If you're in an accident or your battery dies, you could be trapped in or out of the vehicle.

Doors haven't changed in the last 100 years because, well, they're doors.

Good point. If you crashed into deep water I'm guessing there would be no way to get out apart from smashing the window.

Try Kaiser Darrin Roadster. (slid into the fenders.)

Leave it to a scrappy American Independent to pull off dissappearing doors first. Granted: they were sideways compared to the Z1, but they were a bit easier to access without vaulting over a gullwing-high sill.
 
Very cool indeed. But I'd only ever see it suited on a high-luxury vehicle such as a Bentley or Maserati (I'll keep the scissor doors for my Lamborghini thankyou).

But the most well-known Lamborghini, the Diablo, sure doesn't.
 
Good idea but its probably very expensive, unreliable and unsafe (in an accident) plus its hard to change peoples attitudes to doors overnight...

I absolutely love this! But, it's almost certainly heavier than normal doors, naturally expensive, and probably pretty embarrasing to get out of if you've lost power (The video mentioned a 'manual override', which I'm guessing means you can undo a latch somewhere, the bottom half of the door falls into the compartment, and you duck under the glass bit.). Actually, though, since it's all one piece, I'm expecting it to be very rigid in an accident, though it may be very difficult to open in a very enthusiastic accident.

Was this video made in 1999?
