Nah. There's nothing there where the driver sits. Looks to me like the car got plowed into by a semi truck.

Looking at it, it looks like something very massive hit the drivers side from the front, moving very fast. Freight train highballing, perhaps? I'd hope it was only because he was parked too close to the tracks...The engine's probably unusable.

No, wait, someone was in the car. I can see where the Jaws of Life cut the roof open. I'd say high speed, because the left rear is missing, that indicates a rollover...

whatever it was, it was nasty.

I hope it was worth it to that dude. Because he's either a quad or dead. Money definately doesn't buy intelligence.

And on a funny side note someone already ganked the M5 badge.

OBJECTION!!!!

Just because it was a fast car you automatically assume it was the guy's fault. For all we know there could also be some drunk's Civic sitting nearby.

The entire front right subframe was ripped out, so I'm now 80% sure something collided with it, and I'm 50% sure it was another vehicle. It could have been on a high-speed two-lane, where approach speeds can easily reach 120 or 130 MPH. I wish I had the police report, for as they say,

"The suspect is innocent until proven guilty."

With what we have, I see insufficent proof to aquit.

TAKE THAT!!!

Nope, he's guilty. He himself had to of traveled over 100mph regardless of the other object that he hit or hit him. The likelihood of this being an innocent accident is quite small.

It has to get a salvage title from the insurance company (which it obviously will), then the owner will get reimbursed for whatever amount he is covered and the salvage title will be auctioned and whoever wins the bid gets to part it or rebuild it or whatever they chose.

It's not even in America (judging by the cars in the foreground), not sure where it is but they could have very different traffic laws regarding speed. But I've seen wrecks similar to that caliber with cars traveling 75-80mph which is only slightly above the limit.

Even if he was speeding that does not mean it was his fault, you can die in an accident at 40mph the same way you can die at 140mph...speed does not kill if you are responsible in the way you use it. People in Michigan drive at a constant flow on I-75 up 105mph at time and no one ever says anything.

Anyways I'm not sure what the mods policy is on threads like this, they typically to not like threads with photos if a fatality occurred.

True, but at this point, I don't think any of us know for sure if it was a fatality.

And I highly doubt anyone can say this guy was at fault. We do not know the story.

Happened in Malaysia.

Regarding speed limits, on highways its 110km/h (70mph), federal & state roads 90km/h (55mph) and town areas 60km/h (40pmh).

Whatever he hit or hit him, that sort of damage is a contact speed of well over 100mph.
If he was speeding , which looks highly probable to me, then who else is to blame?

A head-on impact where both vehicles are travelling at 70mph is equivalent to hitting a stationary car at 140mph. I don't think it was that fast. Looks more like a 100mph closing speed impact with something big, like a truck. An offset impact too, which is quite possibly the result of an overtaking manouevre gone wrong.

True extent of the damage is difficult to assess as (as has already been pointed out) the roof has clearly been removed during the rescue. I think that we all subconsciously assess damage based on 1980s impact structures, whereas cars will actively destroy themselves in relatively minor accidents now, all with the aim of dissipating the crash energy in a controlled manner. I reckon that was survivable.

That'll buff out.
You stole my exact post :D

You sure about that? wouldnt want to go crazy with those predictions :p

More probable possibility = HE was driving like a complete ass and HE hit another vehicle.

.'. MUPPET!

Edit:
What side does the driver sit in Malaysia?

Right Hand drive I believe.

Right Hand drive I believe.

In that case the passenger side took the brunt of the impact. It is very possible for the driver to survive.

We just have to hope he (/she) was not carrying any passengers.
