What is the best Prize Car you have won in Gran Turismo 1? Mine was the [R] FTO LM Edition from the us vs. japan event!:cool:
 
Mine was the black Toyota Supra LM Edition, from what I believe to be the Grand Valley 300KM. It made the white one look terrible, and it was well worth the 2-hour effort.
 
Gotta be the del Sol LM or RX-7 A-Spec LM. I raced the Country vs Country Championship almost 100 times (yikes!) to get those. PD should really fix their random prize car award system.

Oh, and the License prize cars are all worth it also.

I agree :), a sweet car and a great all rounder.The Cerbera LM is the best car in the game though.
 
Please, feel free to explain.

However, in light of the Dodge Viper, the Concept Car LM, the FTO LM Edition, the Mitsubishi GTO, and the Skyline GT-R V-Spec, I guess there is no real need.
 
By the way, what races would the FTO LM Edition be good in? I mean, just out of curiosity!:)
 
Everything it can enter it will do well in, I guess. The FTO LM is as close as you get to the perfect car.

Sounds great
Looks great
Drives nearly perfect
A real giant killer

The Viper GTS is my record holder for all races in Arcade Mode, the race modified '89 Skyline is my lap record holder for all time trials in GT Mode.
The Mitsu GTO or the Supra RZ are the fastest top speed cars ( depending on weather conditions :)) and as stated above the FTO is a great car as well.

I just love the Cerbera LM and was extremely annoyed to find it missing in GT4.

On topic though, the Supra is generally faster than the GTO because it doesn't lose as much speed on the bankings, hence it can reach higher speeds on the straights. I think this has got something to do with the drivetrains (FR against 4WD).

Out of interest, what is the fastest way to take the turns at the test track? Is it to keep to the inside all the time or outside? Or a smooth out-in-out is fastest?
 
I have a soft spot for the pink and blue Truenos, and the gold Miata.

That would make sense, as the greater amount of moving components may limit speeds at high g-loadings, aerodynamics and power aside.

I liked the Truenos as well, mainly due to the classic Shuichi Shigeno wheel design.
 
I dig Truenos, but only if they're white. In other colours it just looks "wrong". I like the carbonfibre-esque hoods on the prize Truenos though. The gold Miata is, needless to say, a classic.

Does Shuichi Shigeno has something to do with Initial D, by any chance?
 
Indeed he does. His anime series (there is proper terminology; odds are I'm not using it) Initial D actually has his main character driving a second-generation AE86 Sprinter Trueno, I believe based off Shigeno's own car. It features a carbon hood and (I think) a V6 engine (engine swap). The wheel designs between Shigeno's car and the prize car Trueno in GT1 are very similar... the anime artist's car would later be featured in both GT3 and GT4 as the Trueno 'S.S' (Shuichi Shigeno) Edition.
 
So Shigeno has an AE86 in real life, and he based a story on his own car? I know Initial D, and I've watched all episodes up to Fourth Stage, it's just that I don't know too much about the details/behind-the-scenes. From what I remember though, the new engine is a straight 5 cylinder and it has 20 valves instead of the usual 16. And it has a 11000 rpm redline. And the wheel design, isn't it a black 8-spoke rim?

It's been a while since I last watched it, so my memory is a bit rusty. Forgive me for any incorrectness.
 
All correct, except the redline for the GT3 and 4 versions is limited to 8000rpm (gauge reads 10,000rpm+), and the S.S. Version uses a V6.
 
Another cool car I won was the Impreza WRX from the Normal Car competiton because it came in orange! I wasn't even aware that the WRX came in orange because it usually comes in White, Silver, Black, and Blue! (WRX type R also came in Yellow)
 
Yeah some of the Prize Cars have unusual colours which is better than the "stock" colours you get when buying these cars from the dealership.
 
I see! By the way, what other colors can the prize WRX come in other than "orange 2tone"?
 
The guide should have that information, but I believe that it may be a certain shade of yellow or purple.

Update: There are two other colours, which are yellow and blue.
 
I see. By the way, what is the coolest "oxidized" color on a car in the game?
 
"Oxidized"? I'd have to say the alternate finish on the NSX-R GT2 LM, then.
 
Does oxidised means rusty? If that's the case then the DB7 you won from Mega Speed Cup, it comes in dark brownish red (burgundy, if you like).
 
What I mean by "oxidized" is when you can wash the car in the car wash. And by the way, is the luster on a car more noticeable on the "Day" tracks or the "Night" tracks?
 
Same for either. The day tracks have daylight, the night tracks have artificial lights. More light would logically come from more angles using the artificial lights, however. (this may not be featured in the game)

My oxidized colour scheme choice stays.
