I don't think I'll be touching the online play until I've played quite a bit of the main single player story mission.

I'm not usually interested in online multiplayer but I doubt I'll be able to resist this one.

I can't get it to connect to a game server-- says I'm not signed into my PSN account-- I'm relatively certain I am
 
Won't let me connect either, says unable to reach game server.
 
I just read on GTAforums.com that alot of people are having this issue.... the theory is the servers can't handle the traffic.... nothing official from what I read though..
