Problem: Updating to Spec III

Hey, I'm having problems updating from Gran Turismo 5: Prologue Spec II to Spec III. I've tried on three occasions, and not only does it take hours (literally) it always failed. I've gotten to about 25% (after 2 hours) and then it said download fail.

Any tips/hints, or any suggestions to fix this problem? Thanks!
 
This is quite a common problem. I kept on trying and it eventually worked, but I do remember someone saying "Say no to the first message telling you to update. Then go to the news section, click on it, then you'll get a message there saying you need to update. Let it update from there." I'm not sure whether this works but I know of people who said it did.

Hopefully it works but i'm not sure if it will. I never tried it. All the best:tup:
 
I had to go three or four times... it kept getting to 50% and stopping. The last time, it got stuck at about 54% then finished in a heartbeat.

Downloading from the news section is reportedly easier, as it allows you to continue an aborted download from halfway.

I tried from News section, got to about 5%, I got bored so I started playing GT5: Prologue, I'll let it go overnight and check tomorrow morning.
 
while we're on this subject, let me just ask a quick question.

why does it say 'spec II' on the top left hand corner of the screen in the game, even though i have the spec III update???
The spec III update is the one that introduced the Citroen GT etc??

Yes that is the Spec III update. And that is odd.

I woke up this morning and the download finished, and the game works good. I checked the Ferrari dealership and I have the California.

No worries. Glad to see it worked. On my standard definition TV it looks like spec II on the top of the screen but when you zoom in it's actually spec III. Its not clear enough to pick it up.
