Welcome to Seoul, the capital city of South Korea! We've had an exciting sprint race to start the season off, and now it's time for the main event. So everyone jump in your cars, and may the best man (or woman) win!

As a slight change, please only discuss sector times for your laps, not total race times or lap times. Also please note i've fixed the AI to +5 for this round.

General Information and Regulations

All rules, regulations, car specifications, and races are controlled by SuperGT sanctioning body, GTMSA. Any and all questions should be directed to GTMSA officials (namely me ABud or oldmodelt) and officials will do their best to answer in a timely and accurate manner.

All drivers must run at the specified weights and horsepower settings provided by GTMSA for each round. Horsepower and/or weight settings are adjusted for competitive reasons each round based on finishing positions from previous rounds.

  • Standard Online Racing Rules Apply.
  • No Cheating, hybrids, etc. You must run the car specifications I give you
  • Try keeping at least 2 wheels on course. Long races = small mishaps, but absolutely NO shortcuts

Time submitted (for GT500). Took a couple of runs, one I even had a WoodOne Supra spin me out at the last corner. And guess what the game gave me?

A PENALTY.:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Seriously, how unfair is THAT?!

EDIT: GT300 time sent in. Am worryingly slow :nervous: compared to the lap records.

Interesting thoughts for strategies on this race in GT300. I can go with a 3 stopper, a 2 stopper, or a one-stopper. Haven't quite decided yet what to do, but I will say I've beaten the lap-record in all three runs.

Haven't tried GT500 yet, but I always seem to have problems mixing tire-compounds, which is what I think I'll have to do.

Already done my GT300 race and I'd say I've done my best for it... The Altezza and the Celica was quite annoying though. But finally managed to break the 1 minute mark lap time throughout the whole race.... Here's my strategy:-

Lap 01-15 = RM/RM
Lap 16-27 = RM/RM
Lap 28-37 = RM/RM

So I did 2 stops with only one type of tyres and that's Race Medium. I think that's the best that I can get so far but not going to take any risk on running Combos because I can see nearly no difference in this one. This track demands you front tyres a lot especially the front left. So I can't wait for the result and I hope that I've done my best for this one. Good luck all!!

Cheers,
KidrauhlM5...

Suggestion Kid, do the race again, last stint using RS/RS. You'll have quicker lap times, and if you can get 15 laps out of RMs, you'll get 9 out of RS easily.

I don't know how this is possible, but to me this race is actually MORE difficult on +5 AI instead of +10...I haven't been able to get a clean run yet and the more i try the more the game blocks you, brake-checks you and slams you into walls. Interestingly, the race on +10 doesn't do ANY of that to you, plus it's fast enough that it doesn't block you in the corners...

Bottom line: I don't know what to do about it.

Ooohh... I can't wait! I'm going now!

Try giving up one corner to get a run on them in the next. Sometimes if you 're coming to a turn side-to-side, just brake later than them and hopefully they won't hit you in the back. :dopey: Best places to pass are the front straightaway, braking into turn 1, straight after turn 2, and the straight after turn 5.

RH's seemed to do me best on the Loctite Mugen NSX: Had a massive advantage in tyre wear over AI. Seriously though, the Corvette C2 Race Car has ridiculously bad tyre wear - it only goes every 6 laps, though on its 4th (!) stint it went 7 for me. :boggled:

Just because it says "+5" doesn't mean you can't go above and beyond. You just can't do +4 or less, that's all. I do all my racing at +10, just so I know what to expect from the AI.

One great place to pass them is coming out of turn 5. Give the AI a little room entering the 3-4-5 complex, and chop inside as the AI drifts outside exiting 5. You'll have a big enough lead into the Carosel-hairpin that you won't need to worry about that car again.

Don't (really) go by the AI tire wear. They're not that good on wear, and some are WAY off. The Impreza Touring Car stops every 7 laps, the FTO stops every 10, and the Castrol NSX stops ever 18 (!) laps.

Haven't quite decided yet what to do, but I will say I've beaten the lap-record in all three runs.

That is quite an accomplishment. Knocking off 1.5 secs. from your sprint BL. Would love to see that video.

which one? the incredibly slow qualifying effort or the decent show on the race?
it's much easeier to get faster laps with a low fuel load too.

That's hardly surprising, given the possibility of using super soft tires and, as you mentioned, the benefit of a half-full fuel tank.

Just because it says "+5" doesn't mean you can't go above and beyond. You just can't do +4 or less, that's all. I do all my racing at +10, just so I know what to expect from the AI.

What? That may be how you would have interpreted it when you ran the series, but that is a completely unfounded assumption given only the information in the first post. I believe that +5 is the only setting allowed, but ABud will, of course, have to confirm that.

Firstly, i'm guessing that super soft was a typo, the only tires allowed are soft, medium and hard, no RSS or RSH.

On the AI thing, use the setting provided, so +5 means +5 not +5 and above. Sorry if that means re-doing any runs ICallShotgun.

Not had time to do any runs on this yet, but i'm hopefull i can make a place or two up in GT500. I'll be happy to finish where i qualified in the GT300 tho, doubt i'll catch austin343.

Oops! :dunce: Sorry. I just wasn't thinking at all when I posted that; I know the softest tires allowed are soft, not super soft, and that's what I meant in my last post. There was no typo. 👍

this is going to hurt, I have no idea where I am going to make up 1-3 seconds per lap to come close to catching you speed demons

BTW - how do you edit the AI tires?? I have the NTSC version and I have tried looking in the race options to no avail.

Right after you select your car, you can select the transmission setting, driving aids, tire grade, and AI difficulty. The tires you choose there are the tires the AI uses, and as I'm sure you know, you're free to change your own car's tires in the Quick Tune box once you have the field of opponents.

Sure nice suggestion... Will try to do it tonight and let's see if it's quicker than my previous. Thanks :)

We all feel your pain. In the same race.

Give them a little more room. It's not worth the pit. Couple of secs here and there compared to the penalty.

You're kidding right? I'll redo the runs, but I'd really like to know why I can't run a more difficult race than what it says? At +5, I'll be hanging around the AI for maybe 1/2 lap, where at +10, I've got at least some fun competition w/ no problems about bumping and such.

If this is the case, I guess I'll abide by it.

I think it's because the race organizer wants us to race under the same conditions to make it a level playing field for all participants.

You're missing a crucial point: since victory in the race itself isn't the aim, +10 may well be easier in the context of our series. They may get in the way less often and cost less time to pass when doing so is necessary. And that is the reason you chose it, right?

seriously, level playing field. Cmon if that was the case then we would all be racing the same car, same gear ratio, same tires, no pit strategy. The the better driver would win

Valid point. But I don't think we would get as many participants if we only used one car for each class. A little variety helps. At least for me. Sort of like real racing. Different cars of pretty equal specs. We have a number of race choices here at GTP. SuperGT/V8, all the various short races not to mention all the competitions in the spot race section too. Oh and not to dis the Tuners either.

Wow, I sound like a salesman for the website. My 2 cents. Back to racing.

Allirght, I've had to do alot with school over the week but I think I'm able to do it tonight.

Not really. It's easier at +5. Did a GT300 run last night and knocked another 8 seconds off my time. The cars were out of the way faster (Passed the leader into T1 on the 2nd lap) than in the +10 mode (had to work to catch the leader on Lap5) and were always in the pits instead of on track. I think I saw an AI car twice my whole race. And got a new fast-lap.

+5: MOV was around 1.5 laps
+10: MOV was roughly 25s

But whatever. It's fine. Dead issue. I'll run what I'm told and nothing else.

Normally rounds would be run at +10. I thought (perhaps incorrectly) that +10 would be OTT for some of the slower drivers here what with it being a short lap mostly consisting of straights. Anyways, it's nearly over now :dunce:

As oldmodelt says, we all run at the same AI to make conditions more or less equal for everyone.

meh, i didn't care. i still used +10 AI and lead for most of the race...
