Is it me or is PD modeling practically everything about the vehicule...and by everything, I literally mean everything, even things that are not shown to us when the car's chassi is in one piece and the car is assembled.

Take a look at that pic:
http://www.gtpla.net/wp-content/uplo...eenshots-8.jpg
didn't want to embed the pic because it was too big

You can clearly see the radiator, the tubes comming to and from it, you can see in details the brake clipers, the rollcage is well represented, and I'm guessing that this is just the tip of the iceberg.

It was well known that the feeling of really being in the car was due to the fact that PD modeled the interor of the car and literally pace that view on the drivers face, (intead of doing like other game companies like shift and *probably* forza) of simply rendering a completly other scene to put you in the car.

My bet is that PD is doing this in order to better simulate full car damage (meaning parts flying around etc...) and/or they have have a whole other meta game in GT5 revolving around "Car mecanics": car parts, mecanical customisation...just to name a few. (something taht would make allot of us literaly jizz in our pants *I know I would*)

Share your thoughts. I would like to know if some of you think the same of am I juts loosing it.

PD is up to something.

We know GT5 is a completely new game from the ground up. GT6 is only a couple years away and who knows what they plan on doing. They may not even know, but with the car and track models now in place, they can do whatever they want.

I guess this could bring up in-depth car customization again. If PD is going through all of the trouble to model various individual parts, one can speculate that you will be allowed to switch out these parts.

To answer the OP, I'm not sure this level of detail is related to damage or customization.I guess it's just PD's signature. Like the litle letters in the BMW headlight.

Like i said Before, Exterior Car customization its already in, kaz promised it in 2006 and in the meristation xavier ocampo interivew he showed how it would be and said you can change practically everything, like bumpers, sidesteps, spoilers, rims and who knows what else, so expect that feature of the game.

To reiterate on the aspect of interchangeable parts, an old presentation demonstrating the new technology additions stated that each part of the car is modeled separately.

After nearly two years of playing GT5 Prologue, the car models still manage to look better than what any other developer is doing. And to be able to render all 16 of them on screen and still have the game run at a steady 60 FPS is a huge technical achievement. The one thing that matters to me in a sim besides the physics is accuracy. The cars and tracks need to look and sound as close to real life as current technology will allow, and that's why GT has always been my series of choice.

I bought FM3 on launch day, and although I believe it is the best racing game for this generation so far, it's clear to see accuracy wasn't very high on Turn 10's list. Some cars look great while others are modeled very poorly - in some cases you can even see polygon placement mistakes which, at least for me, ruin the whole beauty of the car.

As somebody who obsesses over getting every detail of every car perfect, I can really appreciate what PD is doing.

Wow, who's already thinking of GT6!? Is that gonna be on the PS4?

Ok, after looking at that picture, who is saying Forza 3 looks on par with GT5?

I try not to think about PD and GT5 lol.
God knows what they're up to, but I'm willing to bet we'll have a few surprises once the game is out.

PD won't consider a car finished if they found a small bolt missing, or the latch inside the doors, seem a bit out of place.

Seriously though, so what aftermarket bumpers will be available?
