FGT Vs Ferrari F1 2010

I was doing some grinding around Monza in the FGT and was managing 1:19.1xx (+/-) lap times.

Inbetween the races I got to wondering about the FGT. What with it being the ultimate formula machine according to PD.

Now the fastest lap around Monza was set in 2004 (surprise, surprise) by Mr Blah Blah with a 1:21.046 (Quali time was 1:20.089) and seeing as we have no direct comparison to a 2004 machine and these are generally considered to be the fastest F1 cars of all time I wonder if we can draw a comparison with the 2010 machine.

This years Italian GP's fastest lap was set by Teflonso with a 1:21.962.

Has anyone put a decent amount of laps on the F10 around Monza and the FGT to get an idea of how much faster the FGT is ?

Cheers

Just realised most of that was waffle

The F10 is most likely modelled against a typical F10( if they even managed to get their over-hyped hands on one) and not a Monza spec machine. Which would have a single surface rear wing and just in general have much less drag at the expense of DF, along with lighter/weaker drive train components where allowed. So if GT5 where really really realistic, it should be at least 1 sec slower per lap. (V.Rough guess)

I have both cars. I'll just say that while I think the F10 handles better than the FGT, the FGT has by far the superior level of power and acceleration and will pull faster lap times on ANY track. I do love the F10 though.

The FGT has, since GTPSP, had superior acceleration and straight line speed to the Ferrari F1 cars. But The Ferrari slaughters it in the corners. They generate around twice as much downforce as the FGT in GT5. In addition, they are much easier to drive, low or high speed thanks to their superior grip and traction because of the much bigger tyres. So, at Monza, the FGT would beat it, but at say Monaco, Nurburgring, Suzuka, maybe Fuji, or anywhere else where corners outweight straights, The Ferris will come out on top.

People must also keep i min that although the FGT is yeared in 2004 ,it is NOT based off of 2004 F1 cars. It has the year 2004 simply because of the year GT4 released. It has a V12 engine, slick tyres, weighs 800 kilos and is wider and longer than current gen. It's sort of based of of the 1990 F1 cars.
