Hey guys, just thought I'd share the way I've found to autogrind without wiring, buying turbo controllers, etc.

First, I took two rubber bands and at attached them to the control stick like so:

I then used regular household scotch tape to tape down the X button.

Then, I taped down the Enter key on my USB keyboard that I bought for $10 at walmart, specifically for chatting on GT5 online since I don't use a headset.

I had the game set to run the Indy race of "Like the Wind" with my Red Bull X2010, and the car has placed first on its own, bouncing off walls, reset and restarted the race multiple times now.

Now I know to use this method for any length of time, I'll need to plug in the controller.

I also used a non-dual shock dontroller, so that it wouldn't bounce all over the place.

Hope this helps someone!

Hah well out here in the boonies, we tend to think pretty simple...

Haha well I looked at the different methods other people had used and tried to figured out how to simplify it all, and came up with this, and its been working well for the last twenty minutes since I came up with it.

Its not exactly the same obviously, sometimes the car takes one lap to get to first, and sometimes it takes 4 laps to get to first.

Great thing is, it doesn't slow the race down much at all, when I raced it manually, it took right about 3 minutes, now its only taking 3:30 to 4 minutes.

The grinding doesnt bother me to much. i just watch films on the laptop. i dont even know im racing half the time.

What I've found is that after a few races the X1 loses enough horsepower to leave it vulnerable to getting passed in the curves. To combat this, you can dial in just enough right turn, with the rubber band, to make it so that the X1 still stays to the right, but not so much that it affects the straight-line speed. If the X1 can get to 260 by the end of the straights, it will win every race.

Also, another way to get faster for auto-grind:

1. drop downforce all the way
2. zero out the tow settings, both front and rear
3. rear camber = 0
4. front camber = alot
5. tighten up all aspects of the suspension.

I've found these modifications help the X1 get ahead faster and stay there.

@ OP

Nice! 👍 I'm trying that tomorrow. Unfortunately, I don't have a USB Keyboard, so I guess I have to check back from time to time.

Y'know, what I did is that I taped the R2 button (that was my throttle button) & turned whenever I arrived into a corner on the Indy Speedway. Since I was driving the FGT, It wasn't necessary to brake. I taped it because I press on it quite hard & hurts after a few minutes. The bad part is that I have to pay attention. But It was still a good & cheap grinding idea, IMO.

Doesn't the car hit others and spin out? Then you could be accelerating into a wall for half the race?

That is a negative exception. But hopefully some people replicating the OP will check on the game like every 30 minutes or something.

@Kryptonite158

How was the OP funny & ingenious? Sure, It was a bit ghetto-like, but It was pretty convenient & easy to do.

Yes, the car does occaisonally spin out and crash, I've left it on overnight and usually wake up to my x1 smoking its tires against the inside wall lol but I've made tons of credits and xp this way. When I'm home, I do check it from time to time. I've just left for work for 4 days and contemplated leaving it going the whole time, but my ps3 is a near original and didn't want to strain it.

On another note, I've found another way to autogrind...I showed the old lady how to race @ indy and she loves it haha, made me 7mil one night while I was at a class! Lol

What do you mean by "the old lady"? Is it bob or something, or do you mean by an actual old lady?

very nice except i can just use my computer key board and use iphone vnc server to type stuff in computer everybody wins i save ten bucks

Why don't you just put a rubber band on the RS pushing up for gas and do the last championship 1st race on Extreme. More money & more Exp.

I hadn't seen that race yet, been concentrating on bspec lately but ill give it a try!

Great tip man. yea its lazy but I am done with the game so I don't care anymore lol. Only thing left is 40 A, but I just play online everyday now. Just to add to this if you have a wheel, well for me the DFGT, what I do is go into dream car race indy, after it loads and before starting the race just unplug power cord from wheel. This will still make the game recognize the wheel but it will have no force feedback motors working. Start the race, aim the X2010 just a little right, I make it hit around 242mph on the straight it will bounce off the walls all around the track, barely hits all the way down the straight, and wins everytime. The wheel holds it perfectly still. It will turn perfect 45.4's every lap lol. 7:42 race time. 108K 10K-XP

Personally I also turn on a controller, set it to #1, and then tape the right stick forward because I don't want to wear my pedal spring out by holding it down all the time. Good way to earn 10mil while you sleep over night.

Mine does 42.5 laps and reaches 263mph. That's worth like 30 secs less per race. You must be doing something wrong.
