"Capture a moment from a grid start to "the first corner" - either chaotic or sublime"

PHOTOTRAVEL: No
UNIQUE RESTRICTIONS: N/A.

Please, ensure you read and understand all requirements for this competition. Failure to follow the rules may result in disqualification.
If you have any questions, please, send me a Private Message or READ THIS.

Be reminded that only the 30 best entries get into Classic poll style, 15 each side in H2H;
Do not vote on your entry;
Do not try to sway the poll;
Please, view each image in it's full size, before voting;
Poll will be up for 4 days;
In the event of a tie, a 1 day poll will be created;
During H2H weeks, dont forget to vote on both polls;
Winners have 48h to submit theyre theme to the competition host (via P.M.);
If the winner cant provide it in time, the runner up will get to choose it.

I've never said anything about not making a poll before, but I was really expecting to see my entry up there this time. Oh well, that's the way the cookie crumbles and there are a lot of great entries this week. I get the feeling I didn't pick the right continent of manufacture for this week's judge

Or maybe my picture just sucked

Jilted again!

Curious, why 40 pictures in the poll this week? I thought it was 30? Shear number of entries?

A few of these are gorgeous pictures, but didn't give me any sense of that first corner charge.

And I couldn't get a couple of them to enlarge? 5 of em'.

I think we all thought we'd make the poll, or we probably wouldn't have entered in the first place. There were a LOT of pictures, many of which were great shots, and two that made the poll were pretty similar to mine. I liked my shot a lot, but I'll try to do something less conventional next time.

Wahoo, made the poll, though I know I'm not going to win; there's too many better shots.

Have to say with my vote, I went for the picture that conveys the most excitement and franticness (even a word?) that you see through the start into the first corner in real live racing, and not the one that is aesthetically prettier.

it definitely looks better than 1/2 of the shots on the poll in my opinion, oh well... might as well get on with the next comp. :dunce:

Sorry man, I think this week was selected more on following exactly what the judge had in mind for the theme rather than simply the beauty of the picture. That's what makes the competition interesting is that you never know exactly what the judge has in mind or what pictures they'll like best. This keeps people striving and keeps the same people from winning every time.

Sorry man, I think this week was selected more on following exactly what the judge had in mind for the theme rather than simply the beauty of the picture. That's what makes the competition interesting is that you never know exactly what the judge has in mind or what pictures they'll like best. This keeps people striving and keeps the same people from winning every time.

I know, its not easy trying to please everyone (especially the judges) and I know my shot might not be exactly live up to the judges expectations, and I can understand... imo I just enter for the fun of it, doesn't matter if I don't made it onto the poll or win or anything. 👍

You can't even tell it is the first corner, the only reason people are voting for it is because it looks cool. It conveys no "franticness of the first corner to me.
