New Endurance Save glitch

Has anybody else tried the new save feature? I just did to see how it works, i am on the 9hr one. on entering the pits, sure enough the suspend feature is their, so i hit it and then quitted the game when told to. i then restarted the game, was asked if i wanted to continue, i did and now the car is drivingn itself, like a bob is in control. tires are red but the car won't come in!!! Waiting for fuel to see what happens!

what happened? I did a 24hr race before and this happened but was pre in game save. Thats also happened a few other times but only when running B-Spec.

I have quit the game and tried again.
On restarting he over shoots the pit entrance and then tries to enter the pit an the main straight!!!!

Did you do anything to piss bob off?

Seriously I can imagine that its pretty annoying, hopefully it will be fixed quickly.

It must be to do with when and where i 'suspended' the race.
It is funny watching him bounce down the main straight trying to get into the pits!!

Had the same thing before the update in the roadster enduro, I crashed near the pit entrance, "bob" took control, tried to enter the pit but failed, then continue the track the normal way, stayed ahead for an 30 minutes but run out of fuel, and so he finally loose... So it is not useful once you need fuel

So the conclusion is - Tsukuba has very slow and tricky pit entrance, if you don't brake before it enough, computer wont be able to slow down the car and you'll skid off pit entrance and then you're not gaining control again. Top tip: Don't go there like mad, thinking computer will sort out everything, I bet you wouldn't be able to make it into pits that way if they weren't automatic, you would just skid back off to the track.

Another poster in Q and A has the same issue on the Tsukuba 9hr Enduro:

I wonder if this is a valid bug issue with V2.00?

Ah, fifomaniak seems to have found a cure. So, it appears that it may be about entering the pits in a realistic way to ensure that you will regain proper control of the car after the restart from saving. 👍

Tsukuba has always had pit issues, not a new bug by any means. I've also heard of AI taking over at Tsukuba, before Spec II.

I'm loving the update, and it's finally given me a chance to start some endurance races. How exactly, though, do you save and continue later? Do I just exit and a message will appear to save my progress? I'd experiment on my own, but I didn't even think about it until I was two hours in.

You do it as you pit in. There is an option to suspend the race. You then exit the game, and the race is resumed when you reload the game.

When you suspend the race,it says to turn off your ps3,as soon as you load up gt5 next time it loads into the race

I havn't tried it yet - since I took the opportunity immediatly to put some time into an endurance race and didnt want to throw away the laps put in to test this yet:

Once you pit and suspend, GT wants you to exit the game to the XMB. On game restart, it automaticly loads the suspended race, but you have a few seconds to press O and cancel this. I dont know if this will allow you to do other stuff in game while retaining the save, or that it'll just throw the savegame away. I suspect the latter though, else GT wouldnt need to have you exit the whole game while suspending the race in the first place.

im wondering do you still get your log in bonus going up each day even though you're locked in an enduro? Only im planning on doing the 24 hr ones over a few days & obvioulsy would love double xp at the end of it.

That's a good point. I've always found the login bonuses, in the UK at least, kinda sketchy. The number of paints and museum cards seems to be less than 10 sometimes even if I logged in the previous day. Also if I leave my PS3 on into the early hours but go and do something else, leaving GT5 on the main GTLife screen, I only get the online bonus when I go into some event, then exit back out to the GT Life screen. So i guess it only "checks" each time you load that main screen, rather than in real time.

Took one for the team and tried this out...unfortunately you lose the save after a game restart if you cancel out to go to the main menu. But hey, we didn't have that option before....so a BIG + for Spec II.

Great information here. Thanks:tup:

Yeap, just tested it out too.
Cancel saved enduro load at start-up = loose it. For me it makes the option 100% useless. Don't ever expect to have 24hours (ok a bit less but still) of straight GT5 time to devote to 1 enduro. Unless psn crashes again for weeks, lol.

I for one am glad of this update, been waiting for this to do the longer endro events.

Did the 4hr Nurnb.. event was a pain (well not really). I can see why GP's have a 2 hr limit, as started to lose concentration a bit in hours 2-3 (actually a lot). Ended up driving like me nan on speed (fast but all over the place). The last half hour was the best though as the end was in sight.

Anyway. For me (and my life) 1.5 to 2 hours would be a max time spent in the game. So for me I really think the update is great. Always new you would have to go straight back to the game once saved.
