Welcome to the Gran Turismo Racing League, a completely new type of Online Racing.

The GTRL is a concept I’ve had in the works for a while now, developing it to (hopefully) near perfection, to be as challenging yet driver-friendly as possible, catering to everybody’s interests in regard to favourite courses.

This is a series purely based around the Formula One. Designed wholly on driving the F1 to perfection, this series involves a complex group of rounds which will put driver talent and tuning skills to the ultimate test.

This series will involve a number of different courses, each with varying levels of difficulty and each with its own unique car setup requirements. Get that perfect setup and reap the rewards, get it wrong and suffer the consequences. Balance, handling, tyre choice, gearing, driving aids, downforce and LSD are all the key to success in this series.

I mentioned before that this is a completely new type of OLR, and it is. The basic concept is to allocate testing days during the week, with a final race day to be held after testing. These are yet to be decided, but will be included in the Week 1 thread. This will hopefully add to the feel of real-life motor racing, and make the experience as realistic as possible.

I am hoping to run this series for as many weeks as there are races in GT3’s Arcade Mode, so it will be a 20+ week long series.

If you want to register, follow these steps:
  • From the GT3 main page, select Licenses.
  • Now select S License.
  • Now select SSR11.
Run this License Test to the best of your ability, then PM your time to me along with your choice of transmission.

Week 1 will officially begin once I receive 20 registrations, so get those times in now!

To make for more friendly competition, and because I want to try and achieve a sense of driver, driver classes will be persona non grata. Instead, for each week a “goal time” will be set, so drivers have something to aim for when they’re hooning endlessly around the course.

Good luck to everyone!

NOTE: This will be a series which uses the Arcade tracks, so you will need to complete the Single Race mode in Arcade to gain access to all tracks.

Yeah, it should be good.

Rob's lurking around here somewhere... :trouble:

So? I can handle it. If you don't like it, you don't have to enter.

:p

Alright, that's enough. I can see that this could turn ugly.

;)

Sandstorm, which F1 car will we be using? I don't have 'em all yet, and I'd hate to have to go about winning a particular one.

I assume it'll be either the 688 or the 094 (so that PAL folks can play too), what's the official word?
All F1s are in. We PALers only get 2 F1s ( :banghead: ) but you can use any that are in your possession. :)

Yeah, that's true.

yeah thats true what happens if someone chooses the 900+Hp rocket at a track like the test course or Super speedway? Should be the cars that are the most like the ones that we have to use (Poly 001/002)

with RER in there are gonna be some fast times afoot

...oh yeah im in just gotta run the test first
cheers
Alright, I hear you. NTCSers won't be allowed to use anything that goes over us PALers' hp limit. I guess we'll just have to trust them on this.

It's never too late. Registration is always open, until the series ends.

Nah, I don't like the Griffith. Should make for an interesting run on my part.

Should I say thanks?

Thank you, mate!

Har har. Looks like you're in the junior group then.

Well, they say practice makes perfect, but nobody's perfect so why practice? :dopey:

Hey, I managed to make a PAL save with all the NTSC F1's on it and they have P001 or P002 bodies.
Good one, Brett. 👍

Ok, I've got a few questions.
And I'll be happy to answer. :)

Sandstorm, can you start a thread with a list of entries (Driver Name / Qualifying Time / Tranny) and a start date for this series?
Sure. I can answer that here - as soon as I receive 20 registrations, I'll put up a thread which will give the details you stated above, ie driver name / qualifying time / tranny.

From the schedule thread, it looks like we're running some long races, yet the original post says that the races will be run in arcade mode. How's that going to work? Are we writing down lap times, then adding them up or what?
No, no - you run the races in Free Run. You know from experience that you can do as many laps as you like in Free Run.

How are we going to deal with the issue of DNF's / people who couldn't race. Having only one day to run such a long race is going to make it tough to run every week. These aren't races you can throw down in half an hour. I know I can't spend every sunday running these races (Every other sunday or so is an F1 Race, and I always try to catch those). Is it possible to allocate a few more days to running the final race? Why only wednesday to sunday?
Hmmmmm, yes - I can see your problem. Allow me to think about this, and I'll come up with a solution to this problem.

In fact, I think I'll start a questions thread.

Read the thread again, concentrating on the sentence highlighted in red. :)

Did you see what I wrote? I'm going to change the whole thing around.

Have you the questions thread, Sough?

What "other Griffith"? Are you aware that you can turn the ghost off?

You can't lean on the other Griffith, mate - he's just a silhouette.

Yeah, 11 people arealready registered. It's great!

Mate, anything will get you in. Bloke ran a 2'13.xxx and he still got in.

You could run a 2'20.xxx and still get in.

Yep, that's all you have to do. That, and PM me your transmission when you send your time.

Yeah, you can - the same way as you change the gearing on the actual races (through Options in the race screen).

So Im in england then is my gt3 a PAL version ? I cant get the 900 - odd bhp F1 monster I dont think - what happens there if sum1 has other version with diff F1 cars ? Sorry if this has been mentioned already !
There was a PALers and NTSCers thread with the information on that, but I got rid of it.

There'll be 2 groups - one for PAL users, and one for NTSC users, so those two systems don't clash. Of course NTSC users are going to run better times than us PAL users, but we'll be in a seperate competition to them.
