I was wondering who is competing in the GT Academy from our great group of world class competitors. Since this is such a focused group of devotees and what I think are among "the fastest in the world", please post your PSN handle that you are using so your fellow members don’t have to see all the riff-raff in the top 250+ and can treat this like another weekly competition from within your top 10 friends list. I was running GTA with the GTP_3D3Racing account today just trying to get the account the free cars per Pekka's suggestion (one run per event and any gold would do). :lol: Then someone else logged in and it kicked me out. :mad:

Anyway, it was pretty interesting to see that friends list since it's basically made up of 100 WRS drivers.

I'm running as GTP_WRP001 of course... but I don't plan to grind until 8-5 at which point the gloves come off (or maybe that's when I should put them on).
 
I'm running with GTPcats_pajamas, if anyone wants to compare.

I'm not running super hard yet but I am trying for some respectable times on each test.

Hi there,

You could add me, GTP_the_wilco. I've been trying to get into the top 5000 in as many as possible. As an added bonus if you have ant B-spec Bobs online I'll add them to my grinder list.

Just noticed that PD have reset the leaderboard for 6-5 due to corner cutting. Everyone will have to re-do their time. I just managed to improve and get into the top 250 (for a few minutes anyway).

I ran some decent times with GTP_3D3Racing last night for stages 5 and 6. I didn't kill myself, but ran each for about 15 minutes and figured I'd be a rabbit to those who might be on the friends list looking for a target. I'll be running in my main account and trying to beat those later.

I don't know if you guys are aware, but there is a cool website you can use to track times for an individual user... For example:

Just edit the id at the end of the URL to see your times. It will only track times for those in the top 5000 of any stage however. Lefty -- I notice you are listed in the top 5000 on almost all the events. And ranked 155 in the world in 5-5... that's awesome. 👍

I'm putting about 10% effort in, enough to get gold and move on. I can't do 7 and 8 and those are the only ones that matter so now I'm just doing it for the cars. I am going to have my brother get gold on 7 and 8 for me so I can at least get all the cars and that racing suit. I want the suit.;)

Well considering the top 138 did 6.5 in under 23 seconds according to the website, I would say they need to do a little more work on it!

Of course as I am sitting at an average of 225 in the U.S., I guess I need a little more work on it also.:)

One thing ive been worried about is if I ever made top 36 (no chance in hell :lol:) that my GTP wouldn't go good due to the fake email address so should I use my main for GTA?

Does anyone know what "Score" is and how it is arrived at?

There is no way I could be ranked 68th in total time world wide so it must only look at those that have done all the tests. I have noticed quite a few guys have skipped a test here or there.

Not sure Paul, but I think you only need to worry about it if you live in the U.S.A. I think that is a requirement on this one. It is open to all to play, but only the top U.S. residents qualify for the chance to be a real racer.

I looked a little further, and it appears I am wrong. It looks like there will be winners from each region meeting up at Silverstone for a change to become a real racer. Not sure exactly what defines region, but I assume they are the regions listed on the Grand turismo website when you log on. So get your email straightened out there Paul and I'll see you at Silverstone.

Not spending too much time on most of the tests. Getting golds on all, which is easy so far. In it for the free cars at the end.:sly:

I looked at that also and it looks like your 68th in the world of all people who were able to finish in the top 5k in all 30 events, a very exclusive club bro 👍

I would be there too but I'm lacking on 1-1 and 2-1, I'm just board to death w/ those worthless challenges, I just wish I could figure out how I'm missing out w/ the whole "steddy thing" just holding the line boorz me to death.

Running them with my main account, GTP_Gravitron. I'm "friends" with most of you so far, but won't be competitive till the final round. :trouble::lol:

I hear ya man! I was bored one day and decided to just keep doing 1-1 untill I broke into the 30.3xx's. It was more nerve wracking than anything else, time after time trying to ballance between a firm grip on the wheel and trying not to overcorrect (actually trying not to have to correct at all).

My approach is similar to Hydro's. It goes like this:

Has Lefty ran this one. No? Cool, I'll set a time for him to beat. Yes? Ok, run it till I beat him. Done. Now go check to see if he has went back and beat any of my times. Yes? Run them until I beat him again!

This technique works well for most challenges. The two I have given up on are the down hill hairpins at Eiger, and the other S turn challenge. Eiger was the last Special event I golded. I have a very tough time doing any good at that track.

Frustrating though, I bettered my time in two events last night considerably and dropped from 68th to 88th! Need to get back on it and work harder as there are only 92 listed so I have to figure 88th is not that great!:yuck:
 
I'm using both main and GTP accounts (mostly for the cars), which is a little awkward. Because our little backwater aren't actually in it, it's a little random whether I do any detail on a test, and on which account - my main is quite a lot better in several challenges that the curiosity bug bit me on, for example, or vice versa if I happened to do them on the GTP one first with a little time available. The different friends lists thing is funny, because I can see where I my main is against my GTP account friends, which sometimes kills my motivation to better the GTP one....

I hope we can actually keep and re-run some of them after the event, because with saved alien replays (which I'll definitely be grabbing pre-closure to be safe), they are considerably more valuable than the license tests (and no SRF), and there's actually some pretty critical corners in there to learn.
 
I'm only running this on one account for now, but I'll eventually get to it on both my GTP_Toymdngn account and my main toymdngn account.

You guys can add me, though I probably won't end up on anyone elses Top 10. :p

Running these events for the cars. I will start putting the hammer down on Round 8-5. (No, not literally. I'm just going to drive faster, the events so far have been way to easy. ;) ) Add GTP_Daz.
 
Running with my GTP_GREEN account, so far been trying to get fairly good times and spending abit longer when I enjoy the TT. On holiday last week of GTA so won't get to grind 8-5 for 2 weeks :p, anyway good luck everyone and here's my times so far ....... :D

You have to download GT Academy from the PS Store, I think it's in demos. Then it's a separate "game" from GT5.
 
My times in the top 5000 , seems to be invisible for most of the GTP'ers on my friend list. (may be because of Finland not being officially in the GTA2012.)

Got 3D3 to 2nd in the world for an event, if only for a few minutes yesterday. By the time I thought about taking a picture it was already down to 3rd and by late last night off the top 10 to 11 and at this time down to 31, but at least 15 minutes of glory on the top 10 and got a replay uploaded. :lol:
