Twin Ring Motegi. Sears Point/Infineon Raceway.
You know how I said that "...Daytona is no Le Mans..." in the "Daytona Prototypes" thread in these forums? Well take word. THIS is how a "roval" should be. Motegi is about the only track that has an oval which doesn't exactly use the oval. Motegi's road course is every bit as competitive as its oval with the IRL nowadays. Since Twin Ring Motegi is a stop on the JGTC calendar, this is going to be another advantage to the JGTC crowd. First Suzuka, now Motegi. I have taped the "On the Limit" coverage of the JGTC, and Motegi is a pretty good track. It's a good track for the JGTC, Super Taikyu, MotoGP road racing, or anything like that. I'm going to like this track in GT4.
Infineon Raceway now. We go east of the Pacific Ocean all the way to Sonoma, CA, USA. Wine country. I'm pretty sure this track is not going to be the pansy road course featured in NASCAR and "Pro Race Driver." The difference between the two is that the wimp configuration disregards the carousel and that sharp hairpin leading to the Esses. The real version includes the drag strip straight and the sharp hairpin. NASCAR Racing and NASCAR Racing 2 for the PC had the straight and the hairpin. And don't go off telling me that there won't be enough American influence to whet the palates of American racing fans. If you're not happy with Laguna Seca, Sears Point isn't a bad alternative. In fact, I think it's a very competitive track in which you have to be active. Speed Channel's Dorsey Schroder or someone said that Sears Point has no real straightaway, and with the lefts and rights you'll be making on this course, it's a nice way to take your American muscle, make it turn, and take down almost ANYONE who wants to take the fight to you GT style.
Two nice tracks. Now go make it happen on gameday.
