Steward's Comments:

Nice job everyone!

Cheers,

OLR Team.

Important notices:
To streamline the WRS administration process, all required replays for this race must be submitted within 7 days. This thread will be listed as "Provisional" and will become "Official" once all posted replays have been verified. After 7 days, all drivers who fail to provide a requested replay will have their lap disqualified. (Beware: disqualification isn't taken lightly within the WRS.)
Drivers who do not have a submitted lap posted in the results are not to post any information related to a laptime they might have achieved in the results thread. Any such posts will have the times removed.

Replay Verification Requests:
This week we would like to see replays for all indicated results. All replays are to be posted here.

Instructions on how to upload your replay can be found here - https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpost.php?p=3180607&postcount=2

Replay Checking:

  1. It is customary for all participants of the WRS to verify each others submitted replays
  2. Once you have checked the replay, post in this thread to say that you have checked it and whether it's clean, dirty or doesn't meet the required race specifications
  3. When verifying a replay, check against this weeks race specification, check that the tyres are the correct compound and that the power and weight is correct for example
  4. If you are unsure about a replay, always seek a second opinion before posting

I don't understand the whole handicap thing, even tho I am actually handicapped, lol. Could someone please explain this to me and is it actually good that I am #1 in that catigory?

Congratulations to all winners and podium finishers, especially Al! Your first D3 win, probably? It's great to be sharing a podium with you and Shawn 👍

Chris, thanks a lot for the tune and the tips!

Here's my NTSC replay.

Yes, it's good. 👍 It means you are doing much better than you did in your qualifier submission.
Those of us who have participated week after week have settled into a groove, but people such as yourself,
who have only submitted a few times, are showing your true speed. Negative numbers are good in the handicaps.

Not sure if Frank will be corrected into D3 or not, I'll leave that up to Vaxen.

Congrats Wes, Baron, Al (+7), and Mitch/Frank on your wins.

Glad to see Christina, Matt, and Daniel submitting fast times. 👍

Wes, you are so fast! Great combo, Kev, wish I could have run twice the distance I did.👍

Congrats all! After a poor first set of laps where I was running 1'11s it started to come together. Nice laps, Baron and Christina! I thought my last sector was good, just not quite good enough though.

I don't really get the handicap output this week. Wes is almost showing at 0.0, which I've never seen. D2 seems slightly odd by comparison, but the its the same algorithm as before I guess so it must be right! Close race at the end in a couple of the divisions, pretty cool :)

Good job everyone, I think I did the best I could possibly do this week. I changed my setup a bit and lowered the car (Prainanos) and did a 24.2 in sector 1 pretty consistently but lost out a bit in the middle and the last sector to better my time, in the end I think I could have probably made 1 tenths or 2 (if i was lucky) at the end of the lap but felt it wasn't worth the time and effort to only chase 1 or so tenths that I may not find so gave up on it.

Congrats to Al, that was a monster T3 I knew this event would be decided in T3 given that so many people were within a 1/10 of each others lap times.

Congrats to Wes for the Win and Chris, your lap looks really good and smooth, could not get your tune to work with my driving style

Congrats to everyone that submitted, I thought it would be a quiet week but looks like a lot of people turned up 👍

Congrats to CargoRat on the handicapped win, I think those TT Seasonal are making you too quick for D4, thought you had me on this one but looks like I had a better T3 :), Good job though

By my understanding of the handicap system, GTP_Worst_Driver's postion really skewed things left, right, and center.

Congrats D1 guys, great showing. Amazing job in D2 as well, it was mighty close :scared:.

Al, Daniel .

Thanks my friend. And yea, the seasonal time trials as well as all my late night practice sessions are finally starting to pay off. Nice run by you aswell. I'll get you next time, lol.

Considering I was aiming for a 1'10.526 I was disappointed in my time, I could nail it in the end. The cars behavior was too inconsistent for me to have a proper rhythm. But your pretty quick so I wouldn't be surprised if you beat me next time

I know I'm not suppose to post a replay this week but can I post one anyway and maybe get some comments and tips from the D1 folks I have a PAL replay, I know a lot of D1 folks are PAL

Well, thanks for the kind words but don't sell yourself short. You're pretty quick as well. It will be fun having a friendly competition between us tho and in the end, it will make us both better. Off to bed now. Talk to you later my friend. I'm gone.

You can try...it's been done before and has produced some good reviews.

Just make sure it matches the time you submitted. :sly:

 0.0XX handicap, I've had 0.5 before maybe even 0.3 but not this. I think it's partly caused by GTP_Worst_Driver's submission but also because the gap between P3 all the way up to P16 is smaller than the gap from P1 to P3. D2-D4 are closer together than D1-D2 which is rather strange (not in line with the registry times).

Anyway congratulations to Chris.
If you can find that consistency you can challenge me even more for the win.👍

Great effort from Baron, Al and Frank to get the division wins.

Congratulations to Wes on another great win - I know you're a bonafide alien but you still surprised me with that last sector this week. Fantastic job mate. 👍

I'm well happy with 2nd and was really pleased with my lap overall.
Anyway congratulations to Chris.
If you can find that consistency you can challenge me even more for the win.👍
Thanks mate. :) Thing is, even my magic lap wouldn't have got you:
24.025
21.606
24.018
1'09.649
And what's more, your lap wasn't your magic lap  :P

The handicaps do look quite extreme this week but its down to the spread of lap times across the board coupled with the relatively low average overall lap time of this combo. As Wes said, the gaps are exponential at the top. If you look at the curve of lap times this week:

week89chart.jpg

and last week:

week88chart.jpg

...the trends are pretty obvious. Obviously the same calculation is used each week - as Vaxen has said in the past, it spits out numbers, he takes them. A certain amount of adjustment can be employed depending on divisional participation, combo difficulty, etc I expect... but the spread of times is the main factor.

That said, I'm gob-smacked at both my own and Wes' handicaps this week. I'm certainly not complaining though - this is the best weekly handicap result I've ever had and a great reward for such a tricky combo. I loved battling this car round here, too :)

Anyway, congratulations all round to everyone who took part and stuck with it. 👍 Particular mentions to Mitch for blowing away the handicap this week, Baron, Christina, Matt, Lucas and Viper for a great D2 battle, Al for punching into D2 territory again with his flying last sector. Great battle in D3 as well - that last sector was more important than ever this week.

Many thanks once again to Kevin for a monster wicked combo. :D ...and Vaxen for the speedy results service. 👍

Enough waffle from me... Here's my lap video again:

I'll have my replay posted soon. Congrats to winners and podium finishers.

I guess I fell asleep in T3 on that lap I ran. I didn't think of running again because I didn't think I could beat that lap I had.

Thanks everyone!

I am very happy to get my 1st D3 win! Had a feeling that my T3 was strong but not that strong! Congrats to Daniel for your P2 in D3! Congrats to all that braved this twitchy little beast! Great combo Kevin. Thanks to Chris and Praiano for your tunes, I ran both of them but settled on Chris's tune. Wow Wes! Amazing time! Congrats Cargorat for the handicap win!

Here is my replay!

Al

After reading some of the comments about the handicap system and somewhat starting to understand it, I think I may be to blame here and I deeply appologise. You see, I registered some time ago but never participated in any events. Along the way, I have been relentlessly practicing and practicing some more and it seems I have improved my skill somewhat from what it was when I submitted my registry times.
So now I come in with my improved skill and start running events and it seems to skew the results and makes some people unhappy. I deeply appologise for this and it was never my intention for it to turn out like this. At this point, I'm not sure what to do as I don't want to continually skew the results and make people unhappy with the results. Maybe its best that I just bow out and things will be back to normal. This happened the last time I submitted and ended up on top of the handicap results so I know its me thats causing the problem here.
Again, sorry for this and never meant for it to happen.

Mitch

Thanks Pekka. 👍 Yeah were late, you gatecrasher. :sly: That is a mighty strange setup - I'd never have even tried that but if it works... Nice job anyway for a late entry. :)

Mitch

It's not your fault. If you keep performing the way you have been, you'll get promoted like others have done.

The short lap time and how close everyone was is what has made it seem skewed.

There's nothing to apologize for. Your handicap won't affect the overall placement of handicaps, it just means you are outperforming your qualifying level. And there are always people improving and spending varying amounts of time on different combos.

I'm a good example too - I qualified in D2 Bronze after spending 2 hours on the qualifier one day before the first deadline. Was pleased with that too. Then in the first event, I got hooked, spent about 12 hours or more on it and ended up 10th overall (out of 170 people) with a D1 Gold handicap for that event. The term 'sandbagger' was toyed with I'm sure... :sly: But you should be proud of that result this week and keep pushing. 👍

I'm afraid it is my fault because like I said, it also happened the last time I ran and ended up on top of the handicap results. People were complaining then too. I could not submit a replay at that time because I had no way to do so.
Its no big deal tho, I understand why people would be upset and I totally appologise. I should have been taking part in the events right from the beginning. Now it looks like I was sandbagging on my registry qualifier when that is certainly not the case. I put alot of effort into that when I did it. So, I can understand why people are upset.

Shush now Mitch and keep Racing On :gtpflag:

Pekka - you'll have to remove the quotes from my green flag I think mate or fetchy won't pick it up. :)

The other event you competed in was at London. Shorter tracks tend to do this because of tighter lap times and drivers being closer together due to the short lap times.

Don't take any blame for topping the handicapped results, it just means you did the best performance-to-handicap of the drivers in that event.

As long as you keep competing like you did this week, you'll get promoted in no time. 👍

Like other people mentioned already, you do not need to apologize, I have had numerous handicap wins !! When I qualified I spent not even 2 hours on it, never thought I would get hooked up this bad. Result : I am now at least 8hours on these tt's.... started in Div5 and know still crawling up the ladder :)

Wow, I haven't been told that since I was like 10 years old by my Mom, lol. I was only trying to clear things up on why the results may have ended up the way they did. I know I'm new here so I'll just keep my mouth shut. Peace.

I think they ended up like that because worst driver is d1 and his time was quite low for d1. As for the handicap you'll be promoted soon enough if you more events. For me I ran the qualifier later than most people cause I joined late, before that I had done so many nurburgring laps that d3 gold was easy to get, I still had time to gain but glad I submitted otherwise I would be in d2 struggling to keep up now :)
